I heard great things about Luxor rooms. I heard Excalibur and Strat was mediocre. Try www.tripadvisor.com (http://www.tripadvisor.com/) . They have a section on hotel reviews. So you will get some honest reviews of people that have stayed in those hotels. I rely on this site to give me the best reviews. For the most part, it is pretty accurate.

LUXOR...and stay in the pyramid. If you don't stay in the pyramid, you
haven't stayed in the LUXOR.

Go for the Pyramid rooms !!!

Too, too many kids at Excalibur...

Strat is way out of the way and really showing its age..
Muppet street gangs abound..

I saw a photo of Grover and Bert & Ernie and that had guns and knifes.
Rumors have it they run a CrackHouse from there..  :D :D

Where to stay???
It depends on what you want to spend AND what amenities you want...
We stay someplace different each time we go and have stayed downtown at the Golden Nugget and hung out for days at the lovely spa there, and we've stayed on the strip and loved the pools at Caesar's. The Rio has huge rooms with floor to ceiling windows and a view of both the mountains and the strip. We went "on a budget" and stayed at the IP and had a lovely room, no view, but good service and nice room. The Venetian was drop dead stunning, but we found it hard to navigate, as well as the MGM, which I truly do not recommend->nothing spectacular, and like trying to get around O'Hare. I happen to love an afternoon siesta poolside with frozen drinkie-poos with little umbrellas in them while my husband smokes his HUGE cigars, so when we go during pool season we go where the pools are the nicest. We have stayed at others, but really not worth mentioning. I agree with the tripadvisor website, the posts are generally written by real people with honest opinions. Hope this isn't too much info. Have fun!

ratevegas is also a good site to get info. I hear the Luxor rooms are small, but its fun to ride those sideways elevators. :D

Luxor would be my choice out of those you listed.
Never stayed there but it looks like it would be a nice place.

Eileen and the kids stayed at the Excalibur and she said it was fine for a family. Luxor also has a lot of kids but the hotel itself is very nice and more attractive than the Excalibur. The Strat is the last major hotel on the Strip but it's a short walk to the Sahara where you can pick up the monorail. If your looking to save $$$$, the Strat is the most economical of the three.

Hi.

I live in Vegas for the past two years.. Originally from NY.

The Excalibur Hotel may have good deals on rooms, but we had a room there and the beds were sunk in the middle. We ended driving home to sleep instead of staying there overnight. Truthfully, I wouldn't recommend Excalibur Rooms. They do however have a nice casino and a nice pool area.

I've also stayed at the Luxor Hotel when it was first built many years ago.
The rooms weren't as large as some of the older hotels, but they were decorated beautifully. I would recommend, after you get your room, to ride up in the elevator which rides on the diagonal (due to the pyramid shape of the hotel) It through off my equalibrium and we had to change rooms and get a room on one of the lower floors so we could walk down.

The Statosphere has a nice casino, I don't know what their rooms are like.

Hope this info helps!

Between your 3 choices I would pick the Luxor. I liked it because it connects with Excalibur and Mandalay Bay, which gives you many options for meals, gambling and entertainment. Have Fun!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed in a Tower room in Luxor several years ago, and it's still my favorite. From all accounts, the Tower rooms are much larger than the Pyramid; ours was very cushy, with luxurious bathroom and lots of room. Last time in LV I stayed in TI, and the Luxor room was much better, I thought.

We took the whole family to LV in April of 2003 and had four rooms at the Luxor Pyramid. Asked to be put in the pyramid!! Our room had a water stain on the ceiling where they had apparently had not figured out the 45 degree angle vs the rain. Ditto our son's. Our son's room smelt like the boys locker room in our 100 year old high school. They conplained and a maid came and sprayed some Fabrize--no effect. We had a pizza box outside our door for three days and a pizza crust on our counter when we checked in. No tubs, just a shower. Our two girls thought their rooms were ok. We were bitterly disappaointed and complained. Gave us a free upgrade to a jacuzzi suite during next stay, so we were content. Others seem to have great rooms? Just our experience. Dave

I've not stayed in any of the three hotels, but I've gambled and walked around them all.

Of the Luxor/Excal pair, I'd lean toward Luxor. The casino is much nicer and less dark. I saw a Luxor Pyramid room once - it was only average - and I, too, smelled that locker room smell. However, the Excal just seems to me to have seen better days.

I've read good things about the Stratosphere hotel. The casino is well lighted and spacious. They have some wierd games, though (crap-less craps) so watch out. Have a car if you stay at Strat, though. Not nearly as important to have one at Lux/Excal.

I stayed at the Luxor in April...LOVED IT!!!! I stayed in a Tower room. It was beautifully decorated and very quiet. I had heard bad things about the Pyramid rooms and leaking water around the windows when it rained. Since I went in the spring, I thought I should avoid the Pyramid. I have also stayed at the Stratosphere. The location left a lot to be desired, but the room was very spacious and clean. The food at the buffet was AWFUL, as was the food at the '50s themed diner (the name escapes me). I didn't think it was possible to screw up a chicken sandwich, but the diner did it! I have not stayed at Excalibur, but have heard bad things about the cleanliness of it. So my recommendation would be Luxor, without question.

If I had to make a choice, of the 3 it would be the Luxor. However, I know someone that has stayed there in the pyramid rooms, and they didn't like it. They mentioned that since they are directly over the casino, thjey can be very smoky. Don't know for sure, however, smoke does rise, and casino is noisy.

excaliber---no
luxor-- nicest with the biggest price tag.
stratasphere.. haven't stayed there but i hear that they make your stay a good one, gambling wise to compensate for location. if u choose the Strat-- do NOT plan on walking unless you like long daytime treks.. certainly wouldn't do any nitetime jaunts.
