the best buffet ever is Spice Market in PH.
I love that they will steam my crab legs...and seriously if you ever get the waiter Javier...you will have a wonderful experience.
the worst buffet ever is the Stratosphere....the food was very very very bland.:eek:

For me it has been the Bellagio for breakfast and at times for lunch.
I was pleasantly surprised that the quality has been maintained after the MGM purchase from Wynn.
Next LV trip I will try Wynn's.
Also enjoy the Paris second best. (that should not come to anyones surprise?)

The absolute worst buffet we have ever had was The Rio carnival buffet. The absolute worst!!!! Service was fine, but the food!!! YEECH. Everyone we had talked to had said that you HAD to go to the Rio for the buffet. It was inedible.
The best buffet was at Bellagio....we went for breakfast. The variety of food offered was amazing and most was freshly prepared as you waited. Best oatmeal I've ever had.....I know, judge a breakfast buffet by oatmeal? It was worthy of a mention.
A great middle-of-the-road buffet is at Mandalay Bay. The variety of food available is limited, but everything is well-done

I'm with you on the oatmeal
I start EVERY breakfact with steel cut oatmeal and no regrets
Some friends who I dine with give me that twisted face when I serve myself oatmeal

Gee that Palace Station was really bad. Not at all like the other Station buffets.
The Wynn for the best with the Spice Market second and Mira Lago buffet on Sunday morning at Lake Las Vegas the very best off strip. Perhaps now that I think about it MAYBE the Mira Lago (with the view) is better than the Wynn.
The Orleans for the best Cheapo altho the Gold Coast has a pretty amazing buffet (with GREAT Choc cake) for an even cheaper price.
At 2 for one (ACG) at the Green Valley and Orleans you just cannot eat that good for those $
My honest opinion.

I LOVE the Buffets - a week in Las Vegas means at least 5 Buffets!
BEST!!
Wynn is the best, however, most expensive. For the money, can not beat Planet Hollywood. Orleans is the best cheap one, and the Flamingo has a nice view and you can usually get $5 dollar off from the girl in front of Harrah's
OK - To Pricy
Mandalay Bay and Mirage is ok, but far to pricy for what you get
WORST!!
Tropicana and did not like Treasure Island

04-01-2008, 03:39 PM
The worst buffets that I ever ate ate were: Tropicana for breakfast, over priced crap! stay away, nothing was fresh all pre-made foods.
The Hilton for dinner. Also over priced, stale food, nothing was very fresh and the restaurant did not seem very clean. Stratosphere for dinner, thank god we had a free coupon.
Best Buffet for breakfast - Main Street Station Downtown, reasonable, great service and wide selection, and the Golden Nugget for Breakfast, $10.00, great good, great selection and great service.

Although I stay at The Flamingo, I do NOT like the buffet there because everything tastes and smells like fish!
The worst was The Sahara. I am not kidding you, they had gravy that was sort of a yellowish green color, and I actually tried it! omg.
Good Middle Of The Road buffets at Imperial Palace- (believe it or not), and my favorite is at Luxor.

great----Bellagio. Foods you can't get just anywhere: octopus, buffalo, sturgeon. Deserts were great too.
worst--Boardwalk! It was only out of convenience, since it was 3 am, and I was starving after a night of partying. The food looked like that featured in Vegas Vacation. You weren't even sure what it was. It wasn't hot--barely luke warm, and the service was horrible. Thank heaven, it's gone now!

Worst Buffet was the SeaFood Buffet at the RIO. Even with the discount it cost 2 people about $70 and it was so not worth it. Even the CAB driver told us how good it was. The Lobster Tail was mined up and sliced with the shell. I knew it was not going to be BIG LOBSTER but I did not expect it to be minced and sliced with the shell. They did have a large selection of seafood but for the price both of us were bitter about spending that kind of money on that buffet. Circus Circus buffet was bad & The SAHARA was just icky, I did not go but a friend who was with us went with his wife and said he should have gone and got a Fat Burger instead he said SAHARA Buffet was dirty and the food did not look good at all.
I liked the Buffet at the Mandalay Bay, not a huge selection of food but everything was very quality and tasty and the place was extreamly clean. One of our FAVORITE places to eat is BATTISTA'S HOLE IN THE WALL, Italian Food, at 4041 Audrie Street, behind the Flamingo. We eat there ever time we come to Vegas it's very yummy and the Italian Food at this place will be better hands down over any Italian food at any Buffet in Vegas.

I'm going with Paris's buffet. I love the crepes and unique dishes.
Worst is Rio. It used to be good after the remodel but now it's horrible.
Second best is PH. They have some unique dishes as well.

The Wynn for breakfast was by far the best.. Everything was great and the smoked bacon was a flavor I still remember. The worst was the brunch at Harrahs, what a let down. Cold food that looked liked it had been left over from all week... It was the week before Christmas, so maybe it had been, but thats still no reason for the warmers to be off!!
Here's they are in the order we liked them:
Fantastic: 1.Wynn 2. Ceasars Palace 3. Bellagio
Good: 4. Mandalay Bay 5. Paris 6. Rio 7. Mirage 8. Palms 9. Hilton 10. Golden Nugget
Plain but edible: 11. MGM 12. Excalibur 13. TI 14. Riviera 15. Sahara
BAD: Sams Town Harrahs
We are still trying to find the Venetians (kidding)...

The ones we've liked the best were Aladdin when they were Aladdin, haven't tried since PH took over but have heard it's the same and we like Harrah's.
The worst that we've experienced have been Terribles, Sahara and since the remodel, the Palms.
We like Stratosphere for breakfast but not for dinner.

Best for us was the Bellagio, but I found that even though "applewood smoked sturgeon" sounded like a fine gourmet treat, it was definitely not for my palate. Wound up hiding it under some scraps because I felt bad about leaving most of it:o. Most of the other high end buffets on the strip are also very good.
We are not picky eaters---food is generally just fuel for us, so I can't say we have eaten at a bad buffet, and that includes Sahara, Strat, Riviera and Tropicana. We have not tried (and most likely won't try) Circus Circus.

The worst buffet's I came across while visiting Las Vegas, was Circus Circus, and Excalibur. In both places the hot food was cold, the food did not taste of anything, there was no flavour. The decour was looking old and decrepid, and Circus Circus had sticky floors
The Best buffet I have been to was at the Aladdin Hotel. The food was superb, and the service of the waiters were very friendly when they came to take your drinks order, clear the plates.

The best by far for lunch & dinner was at the old Aladdin. Selection was great and tasted even better. We haven't tried it since PH took over. The best breakfast is Harrah's and is terrific! Very large selection and so good.
The worst in order:
1. Imperial Palace - seemed dirty and was tasteless.
2. Luxor - awful selection and only luke warm food. But that was before MGM took over.

I need to agree with alot of people as say "Rio Seafood was the worst and very overprices-we even complained that the lobster tails were under cooked and nothing was done about is-never going back and that was 2 years ago
best-main st station for the price and sunset station and Harrahs

OMG! I canot believe no one has mentioned the buffet at South Point! It is truly VERY good! And, if you can play an hour or so at one of their tables and ask the pit boss to comp it, you will be delighted! We did this the entire weekend we stayed there and got free champagne brunch on Sunday. While we LOVE Paris' buffet, this one is a close second - not for the atmosphere, but for the unbelievable amounts of different food!! I would rate this a Bellagio or Paris "junior buffet" if you know what I mean! Clean place, decent service, and really great food!
The WORST has to be Treasure Island. Love the hotel, cannot stand the buffet!!!!

Best buffet: A tie between Bellagio and Wynn.
Worst buffet: Agree with many reviewers that TI is absolutely terrible. We had two free coupons when we last ate there. If offered coupons again, wouldn't use them -- it was that bad. Also greatly disliked the buffet at Paris although many rave about it.

I would definitely rate the Riviera's Buffet the worst in Vegas. Not only was the food bad but there were bugs everywhere. We won't ever go back. The Texas Station and Treasure Island buffet's were really good but Planet Hollywood's has to be the best in town. The variety and quality are top of the line. I will have to say the last time I had TI's buffet was in 05 before the redo so if it's as bad as you all say I won't go back especially how raunchy the room were when I stayed there last. It was horrible.

I love the orleans and gold coast buffets, ok not the best but cheap and regular decent foods
worst thats easy bally's terrible food poisoning my sister was in hospital for 4 days. I always thought their buffet was a little dirty and things didn't look right. Guess we learned it with a hard lesson. (this was before Harrahs took it over!) Maybe its cleaner and better now, but I can't go back again :)

My wife and I try and go to a buffet a day when ever we go out there. We have noticed since we have been going to Vegas the Buffets in Atlantic City (we're about 45min away) are gross. It is like getto buffets. Anyway I don't think we have had a BAD buffet. Terribles is kind of small but it is worth the money if you get the 2 for 1 coupon. We absolutely love the Flavors buffet at Harrahs, The Rio buffet and the PH Spice Market buffet, always on our list. We also like the buffet at the Palms, a little small but the food was good. We tried the Excalibur Sunday brunch last time and to be honest with you, I was prepared for the worst but it was ok. Our next trip in May 08 will feature a trip to GVR for Sunday brunch right after we get off the plane. WAHOO!!:)

Ok, so 100 years ago, Palace Station and the Rio Carnival were the best - I remember them as the first "super buffets," where there was a vast variety of foods for all different tastes. Then they took a dirt dive. And kept going. If I had a dog, I wouldn't let it eat at either place. Same with Circus Circus - it didn't get the name "cattle corral" for being remarkable.
My favorite Casino Buffets have to be Paris and Mandalay - I haven't tried Planet Hollywood yet (but will in May). Sunset Station has been pretty good since it opened a bunch of years ago - most of the other Stations have sacrificed quality for price. I don't remember eating at Green Valley though.
I hated the Stirling Brunch at Bally's. I guess I must have done it wrong, since I attended the 3 hour "cooking class," where you did get to eat at the end, and the food was good, but just not worth the time and $$$ invested. By the time we got to eat, I would have eaten a McD happy meal and like it. Never again.
Special mention to Todai - this is actually my favorite buffet, but since it's in the Desert Passage shops, I guess it's out of scope. But if you like seafood (both sushi and cooked seafood), you have to try it. The lunch and dinner buffets are almost identical, but lunch is like $10 cheaper. I think the only difference is no stuffed lobster at lunch.

I can tell you that I use to feel that the Luxor was a very good one, but, took some freinds there the last time we were out there and it was terrible. We were a little embarrased since we had bragged it up so much..
Now, I would say the Red Rock is on the top of the list. This is not to be to much above the Orleans, always good for the price and the size..:o

The best buffet that we've ever had, IMO, is Planet Hollywood.
The worst buffet we've ever had in Vegas was at the Palms...OMG, was like a buffet for a kindergarten...chicken nuggets, Kraft macaroni and cheese, instant mashed pototoes...it was gross and very kid like. The price was very low but it was a perfect example of "you get what you pay for.." ick!
A second runner up for worst buffet would be the Rio Carnival Buffet...ick! They had tons of food but the quality was really gross.

Our best buffets have been the Orleans, Golden Nugget, Gold Coast and Main Street Station, even the Fremont, but we haven't got the classier buffets in our budget. Can't see spending that much money on food, although I would love to try Paris, Mandalay Bay, Wynn. We are going to try Planet Hollywood this time when we go.
Our worst buffet was at Westward Ho, Tropicana, Whiskey Petes, and The Plaza.

Bellaggio has since they opened the very best dinner buffet on the Strip. The weekend buffet has Kobe beef, Sea Bass, Giant Alaskan King Crab Legs, Jumbo Prawns, Wood oven Pizza's and some of the very best desserts. Their personally tossed Caesar salad is great. Everything on the buffet is cooked perfectly and is as good as any main dish in a fine dining restaurant.

We are not big buffet eaters, but I have to say that the Sahara has an awful buffet. I think it is so dark in there so you can avoid looking at what you are eating. I has the feel of a high school cafeteria.
On the other hand, Rampart Casino out in Summerlin has a very good Sunday brunch buffet.

Worst Excalibur, Fiesta, Sahara, Flamingo

Best: Have to say Spice Market Buffet at PH. Love the crab
legs and good assortment of seafood.
Bellagio runs a close 2nd if you don't get stuck in the 6-hour
line that runs to downtown sometimes.
Worst: Sahara smelled like rotten fish and when I finally sat down with my plate of food, I couldn't eat it, yukkkkkk.

The best buffet we have had recently is the Silverton. On a Friday night seafoood buffet they had crab legs hot or cold, cocunut shrimp, peel shrimp, oysters, clams. Everything was real tasy and served hot.

This week's Topic Of The Week question is:
What was the best Las Vegas Buffet you ever had and what was the worst. Please give specific details.
Steve
WYNN = BEST. Gourmet food. The bacon is cut right there in front of you.
Everything is fresh and is presented and tastes as if it was preparred by an executive chef(probably because it was).....
HACIENDA = WORST. Tastes like dorm food. It is consumable, but comparable to the truck stop in Kingman. This place is not in the center of Las Vegas, but anybody who has driven to Hoover Dam will recognize it as the last casino before you hit Hoover Dam. The one good thing is that they will comp it to you for playing low stakes table games.

I haven't eaten at THAT many buffets over the years, I tend to find a good one and stick to it.
BEST: I like the Mirage - fresh food and many options. Didn't have any soup though and not a huge fan of their potatoes, they didn't have any mash!
I last ate in the Golden Nugget buffet in 2005 (on my way to my first Matt Dusk concert! :D) and LOVED it! I don't spend much time downtown now so it was my one and only visit but I'd give it the thumbs up.
Flavors at Harrahs was good too with a good selection but the staff on one of my visits were horrible. Failed to bring us drinks and when I asked another employee I was told that I couldn't have asked for any - they didn't believe me!!
WORST: HAS to be Circus Circus and/or Imperial Palace's Emperor's Buffet. In both places I got chicken that still had blood running out of it - ever heard of SALMONELLA??!!
Steve
04-02-2008, 03:59 AM
Let's start down Memory Lane.
The all-time best buffet in Las vegas was the Sunday Brunch at The Brown Derby. This buffet was awesome and not once in all my visits was it bad.
If you went during a holiday, there would be chocolates representing that holiday. Chocolate Santa's at Christmas time, chocolate rabbits and eggs at Easter time, chocolate witches and goblins at Halloween...etc. Plus the room was decorated with pictures of all the celebrites that dined there and you always had someone famous at this buffet when you were there.
Present Day:
The best for me.
The Sterling Brunch..Never had a bad experience but haven't been there in nearly a year.
2-Planet Hollywood. One bad experience
3-Flavors, Great service and they treat my members very well.
4-Rio. One bad experience
5-Mirage. Very underated buffet.
The worst for me:
1-Tropicana/Breakfast..Totally tasteless, uncaring staff and overall dirty.
2-Planet Hollywood. If you read my trip report review, you will know why.
3-Orleans..room was very dirty and food stations were unclean.
4-Main Street Station-Even after the first disasterous visit, I gave it a second try. Food stations and room could have been shut by the Board of Health. I have never in all the times that I have been to Las Vegas seen so many unbussed tables at a buffet.
5-MGM. IMO, they should give you a roadmap when you enter the buffet.

The Best: One Friday night at Bellagio. They served Kobe beef that could turn a Vegan into a meat eater. I went back on my next trip they didn't cook it as good. The same tasted like regular beef.
The worst Excalibur
The best buy: Railroad Pass?( the one before the turnoff before Laughlin)
$5 for crab legs and regular buffet. The Legs were great:), the rest CC.:(

Best ....Wynn, Great food , much attention to detail. Not cheap, but worth it.
Worst ... Imperial Palace...I love staying and playing there. But the buffet is the pits, bad selection, poorly prepared and served and served just not quite hot enough. Flamingo gets second place vote here
Don't eat there at any price, including free!!
Best value.....Orleans, great food and selection for the price. Main Street Station can be included in this category as well.

Best we have tried: Mandalay Bay, Rio Seafood Buffet
Very good: TI, Harrah's, Mirage, Big Kitchen, MGM
Not too bad: Rio
Good enough for breakfast: IP
Not as good as High School lunch room: Circus Circus, Excalibur

:) Best we have ever had was the breakfast buffet at Paris and the dinner (supper) at Gold Coast. Gold Coast has about 7 different stations with various types of food ... always hot and fresh. Very good for the $.
:( The worst, by far, was the old Barbary Coast. Just plain disgusting.

We don't eat at buffets often because we enjoy being served and don't mind spending the extra money at a good restaurant. That being said, we do go for breakfast at the Paris every time we are out there. It is my favorite.
We always stay at the Sahara while we are in town and the first morning of our first trip, we went to their buffet for breakfast. After walking miles to get to it and more stairs than getting to the top of the York Minster, we arrived to this horrid, dark room. Still running on nothing but adrenalin from being in Vegas for the first time, we forged on. I found a piece of plastic (that holds the price tag on clothes) in my eggs. I freaked out but my husband told me to just get another plate. He is the more calm one in the family. I went for the fruit. Big mistake. There was a RUBBER BAND that was starting to deteriorate in the fruit. I couldn't believe it! I wanted to talk to the manager, but my husband told me to just leave it alone.

Believe it or not the Best and Worst Buffets we found were at the same casino - Aladdin (prior PH).
We always enjoyed their buffets even though there was usually a long waiting line - the selection was always great, the food fresh and plenty of selection. However on our last stay (as Aladdin, just before the changeover), the selection had dimished and the food barely warm.As I waited at the fish bar (there was always a long queue in this area), I noticed small crawly insects around the serving area (cockroaches ?). Needless to say I didn't hang around for any fish. In fact I couldn't eat any of the food and left in a haste.! Perhaps morale (and cleaning skills) were low, because of the impending changeover ? We haven't been back since so I can't comment on PH standards.
I also remember the first time we had the Excalibur buffet (years ago now) the plates were brightly coloured plastic ones !
We have recently enjoyed Caesars Palace breakfast buffet - good food and a quiet atmosphere needed for early mornings :D and also Harrahs Flavours - all the better for the $5 coupon !!

There are two buffets at the RIO....the Carnival which many do not care for. However the other one called the Fishermna's Village or something like that is a few bucks more but far superior. It is predominitly seafood with strong emphasis on shrimp in many styles. There was also lobster tail peices cooked two or three different ways whe I went there..So I suggest that if in the Rio that you try this buffet...truly, Gvizier

By far and away, the absolute worst buffet in the history of mankind is (without argument) the buffet at Circus Circus. I've seen packs of wild dogs refuse to eat that crap. One dog ate it and dropped dead on the spot.

Here is my list of favs.
1. Wynn...hands down...its super clean, great presentation, creativity, veggies are really fresh, great quality and great atmosphere
2. Red Rock....very good meat carvings for the most part....great Chinese food (I'm Chinese too)....great gelato selection.....a lot of people don't know this (and I came to find out much later)...if you take the shrimp cocktail and bring it to the chef behind the Mexican counter to your immediate right OR take it to the chef behind the Italian section they will use the shrimp to make shrimp scampi and you have your choice of various spices, sauces, and pasta. It's actually very, very good.
3. Paris....hmmmm, hmmmm, good.
4. Mirage....deserves an honorable mention.
----------------------------------------------------------
In reading all these posts, I'm about to shock people with my opinion on Bellagio. I used to like going there as it was one of my favs, but this past Saturday, me and 2 others went, cost $77 and we were sorely disappointed. Corn on the Cob was raw (and I tried 3 different ones to see if i just got a "bad" one), fish entrees were bland and dry, sushi, although made fresh behind the counter.....the rice was yuck! The Chicken Wellington was dry, dry, dry.
Obviously, it was a very off day, but I think it will be a very long while before I return. On top of it all, seeing that it was Saturday, they keep out the brunch selections e.g., eggs etc.....(even tho it was already 1 pm), I felt I really overpaid for lunch food that wasn't good, and breakfast items I can easily make myself.
So, I'm not saying it was my worst, only because it used to be one of my favs, but definitely not worth it.

Worst:
Circus Circus
Excalibur
South Point

Best I've had so far...
Bellagio, Wynn, and Mirage.
I can't really say I've eaten at a really bad buffet.
Other buffets I've eaten at that were not as good as the above three, but weren't horrible either, were:
Luxor and Bally's
I've heard horror stories about other buffets like Excalibur and Circus Circus, so I'll never go there.

the best buffet comes down to price.....Eleven to twelve dollars...Main St in
downtown and the Orleans have the best food from the prime ribs, chicken fajita, mongolian dishes, and the bread puddings. The worst is the
california hotel buffet....however they have the best buffet at 6:00 in
the morning.

The absolute worst buffet we've eaten is the Riviera along with the Sahara (the only reason we ate at the Sahara is we had 2 freebies)! You even have to get your own soft drinks there!
The best we've eaten is Bally's Big Kitchen Buffet, but I have to confess that it was quite a few years ago. Monte Carlo was pretty good, too!
Best of the cheapies, I think, is the Gold Coast. My hubby loves the get your own strawberry shortcake!
Happy Eating!!!

My favorites are the higher-end ones, just because of the "better" selection of food and cleanliness overall; however almost all buffets I've been to on a regular basis can be a little inconsistent (ranging from "very good" days to "average" days).
My Top Five:
Paris
Bally's Sterling Brunch
Wynn
Bellagio (although I haven't been in 3 years)
Harrah's Flavors
The worst was Circus Circus, but that was 10 years ago. Apparently they haven't improved.
The worst I've been to in recent years is MGM Grand.

Best buffet hands down is Paris' Le Village Buffet. I've only been there for breakfast, but if the other two meals are anything close to breakfast, it's got to be #1 in Vegas.
Worst buffet? Hands down....Excalibur! Horrible with a capital H.
TI runs a close second.

The best we have enjoyed was actually downtown at Main Street Station.
The atmosphere is relaxing and the food is top notch. The price is a factor in nthe rating. There was plenty of variety and the side dishes were exceptional. Potaoes au Gratin were cheesy and moist. The corned beef was tender and flavourful. The fish was fresh and cooked properly and not dried as is the case in most buffets.
The worst is Excalibur's Round Table. Cattle call serving is a turn off. Food is steamed beyond belief. No beverage service and the desserts are simple.

great Chinese food (I'm Chinese too)
Really? I thought you were ... oh, never mind.
Best buffet: Bellagio (best pasta in a steam tray and I love pasta). Main Street (best value). Freemont (best macaroni salad, like they serve in Hawaii). But I haven't tried Wynn, yet.
Worst buffet: Stratosphere. Nothing looked or tasted fresh. It appeared to be left-overs from the prior day.
Many people bag on Excalibur's buffet. Though it isn't very good, I thought it was OK for the money.
I'd like to mention the Riviera's buffet because they have a sign on the table that says something like: If you don't like the service, don't leave a tip. I had never seen that before nor after.

Well, the only buffets we go to are for champagne brunch so can only judge on that plus we're cheapos and since we don't eat a whole lot, aren't willing to shell out the money for places like Bellagio, etc. So based on that, the best was a toss-up between Rio and Monte Carlo. Food selection was good at both places, however, the champagne service sucked. We had to practically chase someone down just to get a second glass! The worst food-wise was the champagne brunch they used to have at the Tea Room at Imperial Palace. If you stuck with just the breakfast items, it was doable but we really enjoyed that the champagne was on tap and you just helped yourself. Lately, our regular Saturday champagne brunch has been at Terrible's. Again, not the best food around but ok for the price since you can almost always find a 2-for-1 coupon plus they are good at keeping the champagne flowing! They always bring you two glasses at a time. If we're downtown, we will go to the champagne brunch at Main Street Station. And on Sunday's, it's ALWAYS the margarita brunch @ Gardunos at the Palms. Gee, is it obvious we like to drink while in Vegas?:)

2) Planet Hollywood
3) Mandalay Bay
Worst:
1) Main Street Station - Mediocre offerings and filthy floors near food stations.
2) Treasure Island

I do apologize, I put Harrahs buffet was bad and I meant Bally's!! Bally's was the one with the cold brunch. My apologies to Harrahs, I have had their buffet and it was good, one of the better ones actually, especially the deserts Harrahs staff was excellent.

The best for breakfast is Paris by far and for dinner I love Bellagio.
The very worst is Riviera--imagine cousin Eddie in Vegas Vacation---followed by Rio Seafood--awful!!! and expensive!

I 've never had a bad buffet in Vegas, because of the information received on ELV and other Vegas web sites. That said I have had some that were only O.K. the best
1. Wynn price wise high, quality great
2. flavours @ Harrahs had the lunch buffet and thought it was good
3. GVR Sunday brunch v.g.
value for the price
1. MSS ,breakfast, I like the omlet station.
2. Gold Coast
3. Orleans
Disapointed in Paris breakfast, not as good as I had hoped
Like to try,based on reports
1. Circus Circus Steak House
2. P.H.
3. Bellagio

I used to go to Harrah's every trip without fail when they had the big vegetable and fruit statues by the tables. I always sat by the celery stalk. After they remodeled and revamped the buffet I went and wasn't too impressed. I went once more after that and realized it just wasn't the same without the celery. I like tacky when I'm in Vegas, what can I say. Their staff has always been great to me though. Very friendly, and always ask if you need more to drink. The one time I went to Excalibur's, the food wasn't the worst, it just wasn't conducive to going back for more because of the crowd. Too many people were waiting for their first plateful, so I didn't want to try to cut into line to get more of anything. When I eat at Excalibur, I go for the food court (Coldstone Creamery, Quiznos, and Krispy Kreme) and The Steakhouse at Camelot. I've never done a breakfast buffet yet. Do any of them serve breakfast after 3:00 PM, that's usually what time I finally leave my room after gambling all night? :D

This subject was very educational, but Steve, we'll have to discuss this Main Street Station thing when you get here! I thought it was lovely. Not the best, but....
Anyway, I hope the buffet operators are reading this. Obviously a lot of things need to be fixed. I really feel guilty now about complaining about too many potatoes at Sam's Town. FYI--they were listening, and reading. Before, the potatoes were scattered all over the buffet. Now they have them side, by side, by side, by side, by side, all in one location. So folks like me can choose only one or 2 of their favorites! LOL Yes, I'm laughing at myself.
Lastly, I drove past circus circus last night. Do you know they actually still charge you money to eat their garbage? Even after several days of all these comments? I would have expected to see, buffet closed for renovation, after all of this. Instead, the marquis said lunch buffet $12.99, Dinner buffet $13.99. I don't think so!

The best buffets are Planet Hollywood, Paris and Bellagio.
the worst buffet was at the Suncoast a few years ago. The food was inedible!! We were comped and if it wasn't for that I would have asked for my money back!
Palace Station used to be good years ago, but they went way down in quality and selection.

The best for me was Wynn by far, the quality and freshness can't be beat.
The worst ever was the Riviera, I hear they have redone it but back then it looked like something out of Vegas Vacation and tasted worse. We were all very fearful of getting sick after we ate there and thought about it.
I wasn't crazy about Spice Market for lunch at PH but loved Cravings at Mirage for breakfast.

We never eat anywhere else but buffets while we're in Vegas.
Best by far: Wynn
Best: Rio, Mandalay Bay and Spice Market at PH
Absolute worst: Treasure Island and Excalibur (it's a tie)
Worst: Paris (my dog wouldn't eat there)
Imperial Palace
Everyone has a different taste for food. Most buffets serve about the same menu items, but the quality of the food is what you're looking for. It's amazing what a good chef can prepare.

>>I've never done a breakfast buffet yet. Do any of them serve breakfast
>>after 3:00 PM, that's usually what time I finally leave my room after
>>gambling all night?
On the otherhand, I do nothing BUT breakfast buffets...normally right at the time they open.
From recent experience on the January trip, I thought the South Point buffet was great.
Main Street Station continues be be the best for the price. IMHO.
The Sahara upped their price and lowered the number of selections, so they're off the list. (For breakfast, I never thought they were as inedible as a lot of people said.)
Lots of "middle of the road" options out there...Gold Coast, Orleans, Fremont, Stratosphere, etc.
The all-time least satisying experience was the buffet at Excalibur.
But even the worst of these is better than the best of what they have at the casinos in Northeast Nevada.

At 2 for one (ACG) at the Green Valley and Orleans you just cannot eat that good for those $
My honest opinion.
your correct Palace Station awful Red Rock great,

Best Bellagio, Mirage, then Paris :)
Worst Excalibur, Fiesta, Sahara, Flamingo
Main Street Station, Freemont and Rio have had some really good and bad nights.
I've been reading these posts for these past few days. By the responses, and from personal experience at buffets (and hotel restaurants) it's my opinion that most, if not all, seem to have good and bad nights. Dontcha think? Of course for the prices we pay at some of them they should always be good. :)

The Worst ever was the Boardwalk when "ButterBean" was doing their ads. Even my Son "The bottemless food pit" agreed that "ButterBean" LIED. The best was the old Buffet at Ceasar's, haven't been there in years though. We've been staying Downtown lately and The Nugget is very good and the Plaza for $7.77 is the bottom of the Downt4own list.

We have eaten at several very good buffets and a couple that were very poor. The best by a slim margin was Silverton where there was a good selection of food with very good flavor. Everything tasted good. The worst without a doubt was the Sahara where we ate because we had free coupons and the food was so bad we left and paid to eat somewhere else. We had eaten at the Sahara a few years prior and it was not that bad, but it has went down hill.

Just got home this AM......The Best buffett by far is at Wynn's.I can still taste the massive King Crab legs, and the lamb chops that will make your mouth water. The price is a bit higher then most, but oh so worth it !! The worst and over rated was the RIO. Included in that is their so called "sea food buffett"....... just two words...stay away.

As noted, I always stay downtown. I can't believe nobody voted for the Fitz buffet as worst. I've had both breakfast and dinner - the food was plain and not very good for plain food. I haven't been there for a couple of years and Don Barden was rumored to be trying to improve things.
I don't think you can beat the dinner buffet at Gold Nugget. I had it last year and also had the Bellagio dinner buffet (not the same night). I would pick the Gold Nugget immediately.
The Fitz in Tunica has a good buffet. I wish they could figure out how to get that quality to LV.

The best includes the (Aladdins pre PH) Spice Market Champagne Brunch, the Seasons at Silverton and the Big Kitchen Buffet at Ballys. We are hoping to try Bellagio, Paris and Wynn on our next trip.
The worst was the Sahara's (last year after the Platters, Drifters & Coasters show). Hopefully they have improved now.
We always try to stop in at the Fremont's buffet when we are downtown. We have never had a bad experience there.

Many years ago..the best buffet we found was at the New Frontier....Prime Rib and crab legs...always a two hr wait...
current day: So far the one we like best is Spice Market and Port's-O-Call at Gold Coast and least favorite: Sam's Town Firelight Buffet(YUK, YUK, YUK,!), followed by Flamingo
Honorable Mention: Flavors; LV Hilton; Rio; and Paris

Here is the rundown from best to worst:
1) The Cannery Buffet in North Las Vegas. This place is SO good. We had a coupon to this place thinking it was on the strip but it's a good 30 minutes from the main strip. The place looks below average and we seriously considered leaving but we were hungry. Thank goodness we stayed because the food was outstanding. It is definitely worth the drive out there. :D
2) Mandalay Bay Buffet - I didn't get a chance to eat here but my friend did and wouldn't shut up about how much he loved it the whole trip. I'll trust his opinion. lol. :p
3) MGM Grand Buffet - The food here tastes like reheated microwave dinners
set out buffet style - disgusting. I can only recall three dishes out of the many selections worth eating. :(
4) The Bellagio - The WORST hands down. I've never had food so tasteless and bland in all my life. The selection put me to sleep and nothing stood out. For the price of $40 bucks a head this is the last place I'd recommend anyone waste their money. I left the buffet hungry!

We've been to Vegas many times in the last ten years and here's our ratings. We figure if there's a buffet and we can't remember how good or bad it was, then it doesn't get rated one way or the other. :)

I love the buffet at Paris. Wynn's was very nice as was Mirage - but I still like Paris better.
The one that I thought was not good at all was TI. Didn't like it.

My fiancee and I enjoyed the Wynn and Rio dinner buffets when we visited those places last year. I had enough points at the Wynn to redeem 2 buffets, and it was Seafood Night ($38.95/person). The gourmet food was delicious, and there was so much food we wanted to try we put a little of everything on our plates.
Ditto for Rio's dinner buffet at the Carnival World. The buffet seemed never-ending. However, on our most recent trip we had the lunch buffet and while it was decent, it was a step down.
Worst buffet: Definitely the Sahara buffet. Most of the food was dry and had no taste, particularly the Chinese part of the buffet, and the chef was Chinese :(. The couple sitting behind my fiancee seemed to be enjoying it, though.
