My husband and I are going on our 1st trip to Las Vegas the end of April for our 25th Anniversary. We'll be revewing our vows with Elvis (why not!). We already booked Beatles/Love and Ratpack shows. Any other MUST SEES?

Have you already booked your Elvis? If not, I have a recommendation. He's the best in the business. Let me know..........

I juuuust have to ask ... why are you classifying the Rat Pack as a "must see show"?

In addition to "Love", I would recommend "Spamalot" at the Wynn resort.

I picked Beatles Love and my husband wanted Rat Pack. He likes Sinatra. Is it my 'must see'? No.
We did book Elvis already. Elvis at Grace Land. Would he be the one you recommend?
AND we booked to stay at the MGM, the small hotel.

Yeah, SPAMALOT is lots of fun if you're a Monte Python fan!
I'll see it for my 4th time in June.
I suggest CENTER ORCHESTRA, rows 4,5,6,7,8... centerish.
1st, 2nd rows are great too for watching the actors up close...thats where
I sat the first time I saw it but...you're real close, you won't see their feet, lol.

Cirque's MYSTERE is always a MUST SEE. It's Cirque's first, best experience
of what Cirque is all about, most affordable and...LOTS OF FUN!
NOT TO WORRY...its totally different than LOVE.
I suggest SECTION 203 for your 1st choice...ROWS AA,BB,CC if possible.
*NOTE. Choose seats in the middle of the rows AWAY from the stairs. Theres
a guardrail around the stairs that will be in your view.
SECTION 204 or 202 would be you other choices, as close to center 203
as possible. GET YOUR TICS IN ADVANCE. 1.800.944.7444 and be in your seats
15min. before show time for all the PRE-SHOW FUN!

NO website bookings/NO disappointments...CALL THE BOX OFFICE.

RAT PACK a must see?...YEAH, for some folks. I saw it at Greek Isle and
had lots of fun. I'm seeing it again in the PLAZA's classic old style show room
in May...really looking forward to it! The LIVE BAND is made of LON BRONSON's
horn section...ya can't get any better than that!
The show room is MATERDEI SEATING so you can 'tip' you way up front if you like...

I would also recommend the Rat Pack. My mum and I loved it!

I would also recommend Mamma Mia or Phantom. You can generally see them in any city but there's nothing like seeing them in Vegas.

Six years ago hubby and I did the same thing. We renewed our vows with Elvis, tried to see most of the free stuff, saw some shows. And because you CAN'T do it all in 1 trip, in May we will be taking our 16th trip to Vegas. Congrats on 25 years. Have a great time and remember to bring comfy shoes you'll need them.:D

A first trip to Vegas is overwhelming. Don't plan too much as you will be a nervous wreck trying to fit it all in. Just visiting and looking at all of the different casinos can takes days. The fountains in front of the Bellagio, I think, are a must see for everyone the first trip. Two shows planned might be enough for your first trip also. How long are you staying? If it is a long time and you want to see another great show, I would recommend "Mystere" at TI or "Mamma Mia" at Mandalay Bay. Both great shows. Most important of all is to bring comfortable shows (not new ones) as there is more walking than you can imagine. Congratulations on your 25th wedding anniversary. Have a great time. Hopefully you will post a trip report when you return.

We live close to New York and Mamma Mia, Spamalot and a few other shows are there (haven''t seen it though).
Anyone ever go to the Price is Right show? How about a 5 hour round trip bus ride to someplace?

In re. to the Price Is Right (I've never been interested but...) fans of
the TV Show have fun. I rarely hear of any big winners however...
You use a hand held remote and enter bids on items...ya gotta be real
quick to compete and win a spot on stage. Its held in the JUBILEE theatre,
pretty good size room...don't know how full it gets.

...a 5 hour bus ride, in and around ANYTHING, sounds terrible!

maybe we'll catch that on our trip in June if any of you give the thumbs up of course...

would think that is a must see if its good

Saw the Jersey boys in Chicago GREAT show. Already got my tickets for May 30th at Palazzo. Mezzanine level front row $68.00. Should be great seats. :o

I went to the Price is Right last September. They weren't using the remotes anymore. They drew seat numbers to get up on stage. I thought it was boring. I would have liked it better if they were still using the remotes and I could have been guessing on the prizes. Not many were winning anything. Everybody was over bidding once they got a chance to play a game.

It is a lot like the real thing. A lot of the same games and they have the big wheel. It was not full so you could probably get tickets the day of the show with no problem. Cost is about $50.

Some other shows you might enjoy are...
Gordie Brown - very funny impressionist
the Scintas
and if you are a Neil Diamond fan - Jay White, he is very good. Close your eyes and you will think Neil is on stage. This guy even looks a lot like the real thing.

None of these shows are very expensive.

The Price Is Right is a fun show. Remember you can usually get gett Pack tickets at the 1/2 price tickets outlets so pay full price.

Also remember I will be in Las Vegas at the end of April and we may have a members get together.

Gregrio..we have tickets to see Mystere in May...Section 203 Row CC, seats 4-5. These look pretty good with only a few seats in the row but will we have anything blocking our view? I am really looking forward to the show....hubby has seen it years ago but this will be my first Cirque show in Vegas. :)

Thanks!

I think the Bellagio buffet is a must do for a first trip. And maybe a side trip to Ellis Island for the sirloin steak special. This way you experience the both an expensive buffet and the cheap special.

But, someone mentioned not to do too much. If this will be your only trip to Las Vegas, then maybe stuff as much as you can into your one visit. Otherwise, maybe plan on doing 1 or 2 things each day and let the other things just happen if you feel like it. And if you don't feel like it, then catch it the next time. You will notice that if you visit all of the newer casinos, they start looking alike.

All good advice, just don't forget to see old Vegas and the brilliant light show in the downtown casinos.

We got back yesterday and had a GREAT TIME!!
Arrived Monday and after we checked in to MGM we took the monorail to Bellagio (had the buffet). Walked around a few casinos and saw Fat Elvis. We needed an hour nap and then went to New York, New York, Excalibur and Luxor. Tuesday was a stratosphere and middle casino strip hang out day and Fremont at night. We ate at the MGM RainForest for dinner. On Wednesday afternoon the stretch limo from Graceland picked us up to bring us to renew our vows with Elvis. (cha ching, cha ching!)They dropped us off at the Plaza for our dinner and Rat Pack evening (very good show). Thursday we rented a car and went to red rock cavern and Hover. We parked at the Mirage in the late afternoon to check more of that area out and then to see Beatles Love. Friday morning we hung out by the pool (doing jello shots at 10 am) and left for the airport by 11.
After 19 years of ONLY going on vacation with the kids, it was wonderful to get away!

Great to hear this. It sounds like you got to see quite a bit of the city.

I believe couples should take vacations without the kids (but not too often). But I'm single, so what do I know. I think you picked a great city for such a vacation.

Doris,

That's what grandparents are for. However, for a small loan, I'd consider it (I had to get that one in).

Hey wait, your kids are old enough to take care of themselves. I say you leave them at home to fend for themselves while you vacation in the tropics. Just leave them with some extra money so when Uncle Mike needs some extra gambling money, he can just get it from them (because their mother is a little tight).
