Decision time

Planning our third trip to Vegas from the UK in August (12 nights) but can`t decide where to stay. The previous two times we have stayed at Caesars, but this time we would like to try a different hotel, top of the list are Planet Hollywood, Paris or Monte Carlo.
Has anyone got any comments/ideas that would help us decide?

Haven't stayed at Planet Hollywood but, I did stay at the Aladdin a few times. Nothing really stood out there that would want to make me go back. I've never had any luck there gambling.

Stayed at Paris twice and didn't care for it either time. Average at best. Gambling there is never fruitful and the casino is marginal.

Stayed at the Monte Carlo many times and have always enjoyed myself. Good rates and a nice casino. Good central location too.

We have stayed at both Paris and the Monte Carlo. Haven't stayed at PH since it has been changed. We liked both Paris and the MC. MC is a quieter place, has a decent cafe, buffet is just okay, decent gaming. They have a food court and also their pool area is very pretty (lazy river etc.). Paris has a great room, lots of noise in the casino at night, lots of good places to eat. Their cafe is quite good, buffet for breakfast is wonderful, they have a good deli which makes wonderful sandwiches. Their pool leaves a little bit to be desired though. Just a small cement slab with some palm trees. We have stayed at both places more than once though and enjoyed them both. I guess it kind of depends on what is most important to you in a casino, if it's the pool go with the MC.

With that many nights - i say choose two hotels. I mean, why not. It will give you a taste of a couple of places. (9 nights here, 3 nights there, or whatever).

Normally i wouldnt suggest this... as if you were here for 3 or 4 nights & valuable time would be wasted checking in/out.... but you're here for a period.

The paris casino, i just dont care for - so, for personal reasons, i'd probably stay over at PH (etc).

I have not stayed at PH, but would not mind it at all I don't think, good location. I do like the MC very much, although the walls are thin, the casino is great. As far as Paris goes I find it better to just to throw a few bills to the wind and keep on walking :rolleyes: I agree with mK about trying a couple of places since you are going to be there for 12 days. TI and NYNY are also good places to stay as well. Best of luck!!

That is too bad. What I know about the MC is; it is more subdued than PH, PH has lots of shopping, restaurant and entertainment options, I am not for sure but I think the MC pool is better. The MC is a lot easier to navigate. I hope this helps with your choice.

I was at PARIS years ago...good standard room and a Bellagio fountain view
room would be cool. Twenty bucks might get you that at registration.
Monte Carlo was fine too. They're all about the same. Its the special views,
upgrades to proper suites, etc. that really make the difference...just depends
on what you need in a hotel room and how much time you spend in it.
I really like the new look of PLANET HOLLYWOOD. I like the layout of the casino,
the location is good.
I know coming from the UK, going through a travel agent makes sense.
You are stuck however with the package you choose. Booking the hotel on
you own 'can' save you money. You book something...watch the website and
if the rate goes down, call 'em and re-book to the lower rate.
Don't know if you can use the 1-800 phone numbers over there...if you have to call at your expense this plan might not be the best for you.
Only problem with a Travel service is you usually can't tip your way to a better room, you don't get the free stuff the hotels hand out to the guests that book direct with them...you're basically stuck with the package the agent set you up with.

You'll find something I'm sure.

Bob I booked my upcoming trip from the UK myself which gives you more choise of Hotel etc, Nb flights for £430 direct from Manchester and got the Bellagio for £100 a night from there web site well worth the money if you can.
When you see the cost of Hotels in the UK its a snip.

Thanks for that Mad Dog, I have looked at booking hotel and flights seperate but found that there was not much difference in the prices as to what the tour operators charge but I will check again (p.s what airline flys out of Manchester and is it a direct flight)

Hi Bob, it's MyTravel that fly direct from Manchester - I usually get their direct flight from Glasgow. It isn't too much to upgrade to First Class and it makes it a more pleasant flight.

I stay at the TI because I find it the perfect location being centre-Strip. For that reason alone I would probably go with either Paris (being nearest to the centre) or Planet Hollywood.

Right now I would choose Paris or Planet Hollywood. I love the layout of Monte Carlo, but you have to walk past that City Center construction on that side of the street to get north. And the other 2 are more centrally located.

I had a remodeled PH room last Oct. & it was pretty cool, but I don't think they are all remodeled yet; however it's not like the old rooms were worn out either. The only thing is they have this top 40 music pumped into the casino which can get irritating after awhile, but you don't have to stay there all day either.

We have decided on either the Paris or Planet Hollywood, Both are about the same price but PH has a free upgrade of a strip view.
Is there anything to choose from on the quality or is the free upgrade to good an offer to refuse?
Any comments will be appreciated

I like a strip view myself, so I would go with PH then. Especially since you will be there awhile, it's just nice to look out your window and see the goings-on & lights. :cool: I feel claustrophobic looking at a parking lot or rooftop but maybe that's just me.

I also love to have a strip view, so because of that I would pick PH. There are good views at Paris too where you can watch the Bellagio fountains from your room, you can't always get these rooms though.
