This week's Topic Of The Week question is:
What was the best deal you ever got in Las Vegas?
Now this could be a hotel room, show tickets, airfares or meals..etc.
Comps do not count..just good deals.

My wife and I got $99 a night plus a $20 trick for a Bellagio fountain view room. We also got $180 airfare from Houston on Continental, so for $780 plus taxes, four nights in the premiere hotel in the premiere city.

In February we spent 5 nights in Vegas at the Four Queens. We purchased a package deal with non-stop flights and the 5 nights hotel for $278.00. I thought that was a pretty good deal. Granted, I know the Four Queens isn't fancy, but the rooms are remodeled and we love downtown.

My best deal was making a reservation using Harrahs Total Rewards card and being comped for 5 nights at Caesars in the Augustus Tower. Checked online without my card and found out they were charging over $2500.00 for the same time period. And all I play are penny and nickel slots.

Best deal on a room we ever got was at the LUXOR. $79/night. Had problems with the plumbing on the next to last day so they moved us to a grand suite which goes for $3000/night and we got charged $59. Now we know how the rich live!

Well my goodness I am almost ashamed to say that neither my hubby nor I have ever received a special deal getting to Vegas or in Vegas. Don't recall ever finding a "head's up" penny while in Vegas either. Guess we don't live right or as the saying goes "our time is coming". Sherry ;)

It’s only been about 4 or 5 years ago; We got a $29 a night at Excalibur (love Christmas time in Vegas) and had flown on frequent flyer miles. We had 2 for 1 buffets at the Rio, Harrahs, and Excalibur. We also had a $10 a day car rental from Priceline. We saw Mac King (which is always a bargain) with 2 for 1 tickets too. We came back with more money than we spent on just a couple of decent slot hits. Good time..
Would love to have had the suite deal above..

I usually spend quite a few hours scouring and then re-scouring the Internet and any other possible travel information I can find before I make my final decision and at that point I think it's the best deal.
So this year I was able to book a nonstop flight from Philadelphia to LV early nonstop flight out, red eye flight back (extra day of fun, woo) for 7 nights staying at Fitgerald's for a total of $861 for two ppl. It was actually $60 cheaper the week before I booked it, but thought I'd wait and I unfortunately lost out that deal, ahh well.
Ok so it's not on the strip, but I thought downtown looked cool when I was there, so hopefully Fitzgerald's will be a good deal, we shall see. I can't wait! :D

The best deal was four nights free and two free breakfast buffet at the GOLD COAST. Second best was thirty dollars a night at the ORLEANS.

I don't know if this counts as a deal or just being in the right place at the right time, but a few years ago, we were waiting for our flight back to Chicago on the old National Airlines. The flight was overbooked. They called our names to come to the counter. I though, "oh boy, here we go...looks like we have to stay." The guy behind the counter asked for our boarding passes and said as he tore them up, "we can't have you sitting in these seats, they are way to small." He then handed us two passes for First Class! I had never flown First Class before, or since. And knowing what happened to National soon after, I'm glad we took the First Class tickets rather than ask for a free flight in the future!

Last year decided to play the comped room game at off strip properties. 3nights Sunset Station, 3 nights Suncoast, 2 nights Silverton all comped.
That was nice but the best part wasn't really a "deal" we were bumped off the flight going out AND coming home. That may pale in comparison to what others received but we were pretty happy about scoring a couple of free round trips each.

Several years ago, I had tickets to see Clint Holmes for $16 -- and sat in the fifth row center. You couldn't put a price on what his show was worth -- absolutely fantastic!
This year (from June 28th) I have a car reserved with Dollar for 14 days for a total of $248 which includes taxes and fees -- in all my years of traveling out to LV for two weeks, this is the lowest car rental yet!

So far I would have to say the best deal for a hotel is this trip coming up in June. Thursday-Sunday at MGM for $281!!! Not bad if I say so myself! Good thing it is cheap, there are only 2 of us going!!!

I had nose-bleed seats to Celene Dion. Due to my disability, I get very dizzy in high places, especially looking straight down. I explained this to the House Manager at the Coliseum, and he gave me a 15th row seat on the main floor for no additional cost. Great seat & didn't cost me anything extra! Same thing with Manilow- but I was given main floor seats because they didn't have an elevator to take me to the balcony! About time some of these older hotels were up-graded for the disabled LOL:rolleyes:

An acceptable room for $30 a night [midweek] at the Stratosphere.

We were supposed to check into the Bellagio for two nights on the day they lost all their power a couple years ago, so they put us up in the MGM for two nights free, including dinner and breakfast. Then, two weeks later we got an invitation from the Bellagio for two complimentary nights which they honored for a Friday and Saturday night (the weekend Josh Groban was at the Mandalay Bay), which normally would have cost about $800!
Also, shortly after the Wynn Las Vegas opened, we got an invite from them for two no-strings attached complimentary nights! We actually spent 3 nights and paid $199 for that 3rd night!

This happened back in the 90's on one of our annual trips. We always look around for the best deal and had everything booked. We arrived at McCarren and went to pick up our rental car at National. They were out of the compact we rented and upgraded us to any car we wanted in the next row and we took a Thunderbird. We got to Caesar's to check in and meet up with our friends who were also staying there. This was when they were a Starwood Hotel. They were having computer problems and upgraded us to a petite suite in the new tower for our patience. Part of our package deal was a $50 dining credit so we used it at their high end Italian restaurant. The next morning my husband won $200 on a slot machine while we were waiting to get into the Paladium Buffet. We felt like we were winners before we even started gambling. Unfortunately, the luck ran out for the rest of the trip but we'll never forget the first day in town. And best of all we didn't have to ask for any of it, it was just offered to us. Ah, the good old days when customer service levels were high!

Air/hotel: In 1995 we paid $315pp for 7 nights at Ballys + airfare from Chicago!
Food: Easily, the 25 cent martinis at Commanders Palace. I still miss that place!
Shows: Saw Mystere for $42 back in 1994. It may not have been a "deal" at the time, but now I really appreciate it!
One of our best deal is now with the gas being so high and going higher, we got airfare for both of us from Cleveland, Ohio to Las Vegas for the third week of April this year non-stop for $464.00. Thank you Continental! And our hotel stay at Bally's five days is free.

After the 9-11 tradegy i booked air for 5 people for $39 RT on swa from Omaha Nebraska to LAS. Only way I was able to take the whole family and we enjoyed a great scenic drive and views for 2 days to the grand canyon.
First trip there for I think around $24.99 we went to the Las Vegas Hilton
show included a steak supper, 2 drinks each, and besides some random acts the first main one was Doug Henning doing his magic and the finale was Bill Cosby doing his comedy.
Imagine what that show would cost today.
Next best show was the Judd's at ceasars for $40/head. Great show

Hi, every one is always talking how food prices have gone up. We go online and go to Terribles and get coupons 2 for 1. We use ours for the breakfat buffet. It is complete 2 for $4.95. They have an omlet station + a complete good breakfast. I also get a large orange juice. I have already paid that much for just to OJ. It is a very good deal. We eat there a lot!

Last fall we booked a standard room, 2 nights at Sam's Town on a $25.99 offer. When we checked in, they informed us they had upgraded us to a deluxe room facing the Atrium at the same cost!!!!!!!! During the same trip we were able to see KA on the ticketmaster deal of $50 per ticket, so we felt as though we did get some very good deals on our last visit. :D

Best deals in Las Vegas are the week prior to Christmas.
I got 4 nights at the Vegas Club - downtown for $4.50 per night.
The next year, four nights at Fitzgerald's for $18.00 per night. Then got comped for Saturday night ....
Hard to beat the week before christmas.

1. First trip to Vegas 1984 $198 included round trip air from Seattle and one week stay in Vegas World (where statosphere is now). Saw Seigfried and Roy at $35 pp and felt guilty we paid that much!
2. Wager Works and old web site let you play casino games in exchange for prizes. Our computer would hand up somehow and we really racked up the points so got multiple free stays at Mirage, Ny Ny and Treasure with free buffets and line passes to Bellagio buffet and Mirage buffets plus plenty of free tickets to EFX at the MGM.
3. Got on Lady Luck's birthday mailing list and for a span of about 5 years, got comped rooms for three nights and free birthday show.
4. And we cannot forget Bob Cohen at the IP and the nice rates he sets us up with (might have changed with Harrahs taking over)

I've told this story before, but the night I checked into the Rio around midnight, and was upgraded to a Cariocus suite, I thought my bang for the buck was through the roof! Getting 2 rooms, and a bedroom jacuzzi, for the price of a regular suite was my best value ever.
I also agree with the restaurant review that says the Ellis Island steak special is a great value. It's a real steak--not just a quarter inch thick piece of beef jerky, like you get with most steak and egg specials. (at an off strip casino, one waitress told a customer "order it rare, otherwise you'll be chewing all night!")
One last great surprising deal is now gone. The mega hotdog at Westward Ho, There was nothing better when you were hungry, in its hey day.

We also took advantage of the Venetian deal after 9-11. Have also done the slot tourney thing at Orleans (3 nights for $99) and will be doing it again this year.
When "Love" was getting ready to open at the Mirage they had discounted tickets for preview shows, I think for $50-60. That was a tremendous deal and opportunity! My favorite Vegas show to date!

Last May I got 3 comp nights at Mirage, and 2 at the Monte carlo. Was not sure about the Monte, heard mixed things about it. But the upgraded me to the 32nd floor ,the call it the club floor. We had our own conceiger and lounge on the floor and the room was awesome. Also gave two Lance Burton tixs to boot.

$49 each way on Southwest from Kansas City. Had free rooms at Rio and got a strip view room in a diamond level suite (had a coffee maker... that was about the only difference, but I sure appreciated it) on the 28th floor. I just told them it was my girlfriend's first time in Vegas, and because it was not a busy time of year, they took care of me.

Many bemoan the fact that Las Vegas isn't as cheap as it once was,
however about a year ago we purchased half price tix at the Tickets
4 Tonite booth for Steven Wright playing at the Orleans for about $20.
Then we used our 241 coupon and ate at the buffet before the show.
For $30 bucks that night we had dinner and a LIVE show! Where else

This is a very hard question for me to answer as most of my Vegas expenses are comped due to my media status.

I had a host at the old Aladdin. When they closed the Aladdin, the host went to Harrah's. For what I assumed was a marketing scheme to get me to move my gambling DEBT to Harrah's, they had a promotion in which I got a free room and some other token free stuff. But the best part was that they had a dinner for all of us people, and they served some pretty good food. But that now looks like the "good old days" as Harrah's hasn't given me a second look. Soon after that, I was told the host retired, so I never set foot in Harrah's.
At the Las Vegas Hilton, as a Hilton Honors member, I get free access to the spa, free bottled water in the room and free breakfast buffet every morning. The information I got from the front desk was that this was for Gold and Platinum Card members. However, somebody on these boards said it is also for Blue Card members. Assuming this last part to be true, if you are staying at the Las Vegas Hilton, you should sign up for the Hilton Honors card. It's free to get the card. The Blue Card is the starting card. There are various ways to become a Gold Card member. I have no idea how I got mine, but it has nothing to do with gambling.
And don't forget that Steve's slot tournament over the 4th of July is at the Hilton.

Before 9/11 I had booked a couple of nights at the MGM through my Casino Host for a weekend in Sept. and it was about $120/night. After 9/11 when we were able to go the rooms were $79/weekend night. Also won 2($75) tickets to the FX Show via Wager Works. Then a couple of years ago I had bought a $45 ticket to watch the L.A. Kings at the MGM Garden Arena and when I went up to the Front Desk to pick up my ticket they upgraded me to a $75 ticket cose to the ice:). After that haven't had much luck.:(

Hey people, we have been staying at The Strat ever since Harras ruined the IP. I will be going out in April for $29.00 per night. Includes two free buffets, two free all day ride passes to the attractions at the top of the tower, and $20.00 slot credit to play on any machine I choose. Staying four nights, with the perks I figure it ends up being about $65.00 or 16.00 per night.
On a previous trip I paid $35.00 per night and used two coupons I recieved in the mail for $50.00 each to end up paying $5.00 for three nights! One coupon could be used each month. I stayed Oct 30-Nov 1, so I used two coupons.
The best I flew for was $69.00 each way on allegiant air.

Having just returned from a week in LV and having, for the most part full comped RFB with HET, I think one of the best deals we got was at the Wynn. When you buy show tickets they give you a coupon to use at card sign up. Sign up for the Red Card and they will give you $25 free slot play. Accumulate 50 points ($150 coin in) and they will give you two buffets (value up to $36.50 each). After getting the card I was able to get 350 points and my wife 400 points with relative ease ( pretty good play on .25 machines before our show). My play ended with me down around $40 and my wife was up about the same. So you could say we got pretty much free buffets. A sweet deal.:)

The thing that stands out in my mind was two free nights at the Wynn. We had been there the week that it opened. I signed up for the slot card and played a little bit. About a month later I get the offer in the mail for the two free nights. I call to find out what the deal is, and was told they noticed we had been there during the grand opening when it was pretty hectic. They wanted us to come back at a more leisurely pace and enjoy the hotel. So we took them up on their offer. At first I was a little dissappointed at how for our room was from the elevator. But once I was in the room, I changed my mind. We had a corner room so we had a view from two different angles with ceiling-to-floor windows. It was breathtaking.

Since most of our Vegas trips involved comps to some extent, I guess our best completely non-comp deal was this most recent trip. We stayed 1 night a the Mirage for $81 but also received a $30 credit for Cravings and free admission for 2 to the Secret Gardens. For someone planning to do both things, this would lower the room cost to $21 (We were definitely planning to eat at Cravings, but would not have spent the $30 for Secret Garden so I guess that meant our real room cost was $51, but Barb did enjoy watching the dolphins).

i was in vegas at the end of may. i booked a room at the monte carlo.i did this 3 months in advance. when i got there i was miffed the garage was part of the citycenter project that kills the famous skyline. that silly project dwarfs the MC,bellagio and caesars.parking is across the way at new york new york now. they dont tell you about the mess around there.i got to my room and went partying. after several drinks i went to my room and a message from hotel management was waiting for me. i was told there was no record of me paying for my room! i spoke to a guy named andrew upon check in and i told this manager his name and to check with him.she did and the problem was found. but im kinda buzzed so i began bitching about how i was treated. it works for annoying liberals right? this manager wanted no part of my shreeking voice and apologized profusely. then she said she would upgrade me to a DIAMOND SUITE.whatever..i was pretty annoyed and to me i was thinking it was just another room on a higher floor with a view of the strip and not citycenter construction and a wall.lol.so i decided to go take a look.as i entered the room i was stunned. it had a wet bar,tv living room and a jacuzzi by the window. the bedroom was huge! it had a huge closet,tv,great window view and a huge bathroom with a another jacuzzi.,and 2 bathrooms with showers. it was pretty clear this was a high rollers suite and trust me i lived like a queen while there. i took pics and used that room for everything it was worth.id never been in such an amazing place. that manager got plenty of thank yous from me.it was the best trip id had.see..it pays to speak your mind in a troubled economy.the monte carlo rocks!

I won three nights at Rio on a LV website several years back, and used FF miles for my plane ticket, so it was a free trip!
Another great deal was staying at the Flamingo for $55 a night, asking for a Bellagio fountain view room because it was my daughter's 21st birthday, and getting it!
