Hi Steve,

I recently got back from a great week in Las Vegas. I have a time share
at what is now The Greek Isles Hotel & Casino. We bought it in 1994
when it was Debbie Reynolds Hotel & Casino. Although I went alone, I
was joined by friends and relatives from three states throughout the
week. I arrived around noon on Saturday, Sept. 10. After renting a car
and checking in at my timeshare, my first stop was the beautiful Wynn
Resort. I love the video slots and won about $75.00 there. I met
friends at Bellagio Buffet for dinner. Maybe I started at eh wrong end
of the buffet, but do not feel it is worth the $34.00. Fortunately, we
knew about the sitting at the bar trick and avoided waiting on a very
long line. Sunday breakfast was at Arizona Charlies on Charleston and
Decatur. Their $2.99 steak, eggs and home fires is great. In the
evening we went downtown. The $17.00 Fremont buffet was pretty good.
The light show was a dumb Star Wars thing and not at all like other
times that I've been there. Monday was breakfast at House of Blues
using coupon from Las Vegas Advisor Pocketbook of Values. Spent the
afternoon at Green Valley. Didn't eat there this year because I was
having an early dinner. Green Valley has a great buffet and lovely
Irish Pub. If you join their slot club, you get a 2 for 1 buffet. The
best deal of the week was dinner at Ellis Island on Koala behind
Bally's. Their delicious steak dinner with large salad, green beans and
baked potato was every bit as good as I had read. It is not on the
menu, you have to ak for it. After dinner we went back to The Greek
Isles to see the "Rat Pack" show. Sammy & Joey are new this year. Joey
could be Joey Bishop's son! The show is great and the tickets,
purchased at the Coke Bottle at MGM were $22.00 instead of $54.00.
Tuesday we had inexpensive breakfast at Ellis Island. It was delicious
and plentiful, too. Went to Circus Circus, Riviera and Aladdin. Dinner
at Ellis Island with new arrivals. Because I had gotten a comp card the
night before and somehow had 10,000 points, (they give you 5000
automatically)(, we got 2 of the steak dinners free! Wednesday, back to
Arizona Charlies for huge ham slice breakfast for $2.49. Stopped at
Salvation Army store on Charleston (we are thrift store junkies). and
got a bunch of books and small stuff for $2.00. One of those items was
an Ann Klein leather belt, like new. Stopped back at Wynn. They have a
great reasonable priced cafe. I think it is called The Terrace Cafe.
We just wanted a snack. Their fruit plate with 4 kinds of berries for
$7.00 hit the spot. Had an early dinner at sidwalk crepe place across
from Paris Buffet. Delicious and reasonably priced.

Now the highlight of my trip, Barry Manilow "Music & Passion" at Las
Vegas Hilton, Wednesday night. About two weeks prior to my trip, I sent
a letter to Barry requesting that he sing "All the Time". It was in an
album of his from the 70's. You can't imagine my surprise when he said,
"I received a poignant letter from a fan requesting the next song."
When I heard the notes of "All the Time", I thought I would die. I am
67 and have had an exciting life, but this was one of my biggest . The
show was well worth the price. The room only holds 1000 loving fans.
Barry looks and sounds as great as, if not better than ever.

Thursday, breakfast at Ellis Island again. Lunch at the Terrace Cafe at
Wynn. It is reasonable, not crowded, good and the staff is friendly.
At least three people thank you for stopping there as you leave. Oh
yes, I won a few $$ at Keno while we were eating. We wandered around
the Monte Carlo and New York New York. The night we had tickets for the
Frank & Barbra sow at the Riviera that were purchased from the Coke
Bottle at MGM again. We ate at Riviera's Kady's Diner, using another
coupon from my POV book. Friday, we had our annual breakfast buffet at
Paris, a must. That is the best. We then bought souvenirs at some of
the lovely shops in Paris. We walked next door to Desert Passage in the
Aladdin. Lots of interesting shops. Dinner was at Hofbrau House on
Paradise & Harmon across from The Hard Rock. The food is delicious and
the atmosphere is just like in Munich. There was a table full of guys
up in front of the band. They had been standing on the benches and
drinking lots of beer. All of a sudden one of them mooned everyone and
then turned around and flashed everyone. I am disappointed that he was
not thrown out. There were families there with young children. We had
been there about 2 hours and decided it was time to leave. Hofbrauhaus
is a really fun place with good food and fun bands, so I would not let
this incident keep me from returning there next year. Saturday, I had to
return my car by noon and had 4 hours before my plane left. I put money
in a few slot machines and won $75.00 on a "Nurse Follies" video slot.
Since I got back what I had spent there, I decide to have a dish of
fruit from the snack bar and read my book.

A great week. No big wins and no big losses either. Brought half my
money home. Can't wait to go back next year!!!

Super trip...do you rent out the time share when you're not
using it?...how much, what are the terms?
...SO, the truth comes out! YOU'RE A "FANILOW"...great show huh!
I saw it late last year and was very entertained. I haven't been in
a Showroom full of fans like Barry's in a long time...FANILOWS EVERYWHERE!
Did you use you 'Light-Stick' or are you saving it?

What a great report!

We'll be in Vegas in 2 weeks, and I'm happy to say we have tickets to see Barry Manilow (also Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme). We were able to get the Barry Manilow tickets way ahead because Steve mentioned in the newsletter that tickets had been put on sale through the end of the year.

Also in our plans are breakfast and dinner at Ellis Island. We've had the steak dinner before, but is there anything you especially recommend for breakfast?

Thanks!
