Love the forum. Can't wait to see more member replies. We're staying at NYNY for the first time 10/9-12 on a comp. Any tips on rooms? Are they nice? We usually stay at the Mirage or TI. are rooms comparable?
Thanks,
Lyonsroar

I've stayed there and it's fun...
When you check in, be aware if you get a room by the RollerCoaster
you'll hear the roar, the screams.......
The Big Apple Bar/Lounge always has good music/drinks.

I stay at NYNY everytime I go to vegas. The standard rooms are small. Find out if you are getting a deluxe room. They are quite nice and roomy.

I've stayed at NYNY plenty of times...I've always had a good time there. The rooms are a little dark. If you stay in the Century tower the elevators are located right next to the front desk. If you happen to be in the Chrysler tower...we'll then you will have somewhat of a long walk through the food court...the tower is around towards the back away from everything! but if you ask for strip view...it's really nice. The casino is alot of fun...NYNY has a very lively atmosphere. The swimming pool (although may not be open in Oct. not sure) is very very boring!.

I've stayed at NYNY once. The hotel part is ok, not great, in my opinion. We had the Broadway Deluxe room, which normally costs a few bucks extra. If you can get it with the comp, do so, as these rooms are the "larger rooms", but I found it just adequate for 3 of us. As with most hotels, ask for something as high up as you can get. This is especially true here with the roller coaster outside the rooms in the mid to low floors.

I agree with the comment that the rooms are a little dark. I don't go to Vegas to sit and spend time in my hotel room (if you know what I mean), so it's not a big deal for me. However, my wife does like to spend an hour or so a night reading and she found it pretty dark.

I love the NYNY casino, though. I normally stop in there at least once on every trip to Vegas. Great atmosphere and friendly people. You can find good games of craps, blackjack, and baccarat at reasonable minimums. Watch out and avoid that horrible 6:5 blackjack, though; this abomination of the game is ubiquitous in the NYNY casino.

The sports book is not so good - small and no place to sit. However, ESPN Zone is right next door and they have all the games on. For Monday Night Football they normally are packed and have a $10 per hour minimum thing going, so watch out for that.

It's easy to access the entire south strip from NYNY. There is an over the street walkway directly into sister property MGM, Monte Carlo is just across another street, and there is a over the street walkway to Excalibur. Come to think of it, they're ALL sister properties since MGM-Mirage purchased Mandalay Bay Group. From Exalibur you can ride a free monorail to sister properties Luxor and Mandalay Bay. It's really funny, but all your dollars go to the same corporate parent for every casino I've mentioned!

If you want to be a rebel (and escape the corporate clutches of MGM-Mirage), you can get to the Tropicana easily from MGM grand, which is connected to NYNY. I would recommend doing the Tropicana, it's cool in old Vegas style.

Also, from the Monte Carlo, which is right next to NYNY, you can get a free monorail to Bellagio (yet another sister property). From there you can walk the four corners of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd with CP, Flamingo, Balleys/Paris and Barbary Coast. So.... I guess what I'm saying is NYNY has a great location with lots of good free access to other resorts.

I like the mexican place in the food court. ESPN Zone is great for the sports fan like me. I've not tried the other restaurants there.
