We will be staying at the IP for the first time, thanks to Mr. Cohen. We have read many things in the past, but have things changed?? can anyone let us know what to expect? We did ask for rooms away from the Carnival Court, because of the noise, but otherwise don't know much else about IP.

At the IP expect a great strip location, long check-in lines during peak times, friendly employees, a mediocre buffet, a good sports book, a show that is worth the money, time-share hound dogs out front, a free picture, a great car museum, low shower heads, a Holiday Inn quality standard room (very clean, functional and basic), crowded elevators, a confusing (I suspect on purpose) floor plan, a great view if you ask for a high, Strip side room, balconies (!), rip-off 6:5 BJ in the Celebrity Dealer area, decent double-deck BJ if look for it, attractive cocktail waitresses and uniforms, an on-site medical clinic, the most expensive haircut you ever had at a regular barber shop, a decent coffee shop and regular mail offers if you give them some decent play using your slot card (with the possibility of comps at check out so charge things to your room).

I have stayed at the IP twice in the past 3 years. They have a great location and a fun casino for low rollers like myself. The Dealertainers are a bit distractive but fun. Good drink service on the floor if ou tip $1 a round. Also VP and VBJ at casino bars, $10 in gets you plenty of free booze. Rooms are decent and clean.
Downside - Hard as hell to find your way around the place, pray to God theres not a fire. Buffett is crap

I am headed to the IP for my first time in November as well. :D
Am checking in late on a Friday night.
Where should I request a room - high up, in back, facing strip????
Looking to be able to sleep late in mornings. :)

I'm going to agree with this entire post. Let me add.. WORST elevators... EVER! Small and slow. We took the stairs a few times. Location and price is pretty darn ok though..

I agree, those elevators are the slowest. There is a second bank of elevators hidden behind the main bank but the secret is out apparently as there are lots of folks there too.
Funny story about the stairways: we thought we'd try the down stairway one time as the elevators were taking forever. As soon as we were in the stairwell we noticed that all of the doorways were alarmed. What to do? We went to the 1st level and went through the doorway, into a parking garage area. The alarm blared and within seconds two security guards on bikes rode up. They were humorless. They questioned us, looked at our ID's and room key and eventually called a golf cart to shuttle us to the front entrance. Mind you, we are a very plain middle-aged Midwestern couple, so this really was a hoot ...after it was over!

I always enjoy the casino, even though it always seemed too warm.
But, I would not stay there, even if I were offered comp - if you get a room in the back, the security, as well as the lighting, does not seem to exist. It is downright scary. There are hallways here, outside hallways there, turns here, turns there.
One of the things I love about Vegas is not having to worry when I decide to stay out later than my better half when we stay in a "better" hotel. I would never leave her alone to wander back to the room.
Go somewhere else.
