The week's Topic Of The Week question is:
Do you have a trip planned for Las Vegas in 2008?
If so, what are some of the things on your TO DO list?

Hello
Yes, we are planning another family trip to Vegas as youngest daughter turns 21 in July 2009. We know that we are staying at the Venetian but not sure of the exact dates depending on summer semester schedule and final exam schedule.

Yes, we leave here Sunday January 6th and we are in Vegas for a week until Sunday January 13th and are staying at the Imperial Palace. Booked through Bob Cohen.
The reason is the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) for Carl. I will do various things like shopping, shopping and maybe some gambling and oh, also eating of course.
Looking forward to it as we are having lousy weather, snow, ice, cold and this early in the season too. We are expecting a rotten winter this year, that is what they say. Whatever happend to Global Warming!

Yes and no. Due to overlapping work schedules we always have some difficulty scheduling our trips. Health has kept us from going as frequently as we used to.
Anyway, we'll be going either late March or mid to late June. We will stay about a week downtown. We seldom hit the strip except to see a show.

Of course I have one trip planned for Vegas in 2008 and thinking about another. March and October always work for me.
Just the usual, drinking, smoking, strip clubbing and gambling.
Good American clean fun!

Have my trip booked for February, staying downtown. We plan on renting a car and traveling to the Grand Canyon during this trip, weather permitting. We are considering staying one night at the Canyon.
 We sure do! As a matter of fact we were going to go Jan 6 to celebrate my husbands 60th. However, I think we are going to hit a casino around here then for 2 nights and go to Vegas in Apr for anniverary. Couldn't find any shows in January.

I'll be in Vegas at least two or three times in 2008.
The January trip will be partly business (Performing) and mostly play (Casino Hopping) and visiting with Dad. May even take in a few shows if time allows. :)
The May Trip will be a fishing trip to Pioche for some great rainbow trout fishing with our Secret bait... ;) Guarantees us our limit almost every trip.
The September or October trip will be to visit friends, see some shows and try to win some of my money back that I may have left there on the first trip.

Our first trip to Las Vegas in 2008
will be over Super Bowl weekend!
It's about the best place to be and
watch the big game IF you can't be
at the actual Super Bowl!

I am playing in my first Vegas slot tourney Jan. 13th-15th at the Gold Coast.
I will be heading out of the Buffalo airport on the 12th and expect to arrive back home on the 17th. I haven't book flights yet cause I'm still waiting to see if my son wants to go along. It gets tiresome sometimes going alone to sin city.

We have our airline tickets for March 2-8 but will wait and see what kind of offers come our way before booking a hotel. It is between the Nascar race and the NCAA basketball tournament so we're thinking there might be some slot tournaments, etc. with good room deals for that week.:)

I'm going to Vegas on 1-1-08 for 3 nights. A trip to Laughlin was included in my reservation, so I'll be going there for the first time. I also plan on getting a massage at the Platinum Hotel Spa. Other than that...eat, drink, gamble and walk...a lot!

YES!! couldn't go thru a year without at least one trip to Vegas. First is a toss up between SuperBowl Weekend or March. The second is as always the girls weekend 1st weekend in October. I'm excited already:D
We don't make too many plans as we tend to break them, but I am considering seeing LOVE again.

I absolutely have a trip planned in '08. It is rare that I don't go at least twice a year but I didn't go at all in '07 because I spent all my $ on a trip to Europe in Sept. Have to make some sacrifices. I'm not sure when in '08 but it will be after the new Criss Angel/ Cirque d Soliel opens at the Luxor. I am a huge CA fan and want to see the show ASAP. As usual, I will be going to the Chippendale show at the Rio and dropping in to see the boys upstairs take it off at Olympic Garden. WooHoo! I will probably be staying at the Luxor. Maybe the Rio but it would be much easier to stalk Criss Angel at the Luxor. Just kidding!

I'm from Hawaii and we tend to stay at the Gold Coast and Sunset Station
in February. Both of the Casino have high ceilings so the cigarette
smoke does not affect you. Now, you can't smoke in the coffee or Buffet
areas so it's very ideal. The egg benedict is superb at the Gold Coast
buffet, plus the cost is so cheap ($6.50)...and have the Mongolian dish
in the evening (wow). Since the renovation at the Sunset, the buffet
is very poor, not like before. Too bad! The Casino is good because the
Gallery Mall and the IN and OUT eating place is close by, plus Walmart. Terrific walking distance...........Dec 4

The good thing about living in Los Angeles is that every weekend is a possible trip to Las Vegas (I can hear the drool hitting the keyboards). So, there will definitely be a trip there next year. Steve's get-together in July is almost written in stone on my calendar. The other good thing about the availablity of Las Vegas is that I don't have to plan much. I generally plan in the reverse: If there's something special available when I'm there, then I go. If there's nothing available, then I'm gambling and/or eating and/or just relaxing. The only thing that would make my situation better is if Las Vegas was just a little bit closer.

I usually go 2-3 times a year and this first trip is planned with my usual group for Feb 25-28, staying at Paris. The next trip will be with the wife, probably sometime in July(maybe in conjuction with Steve's deal) and if lucky another trip , maybe between Feb and July or October.
I hope to see Mamma Mia again, and eat at Billy Bob's, Grand Lux and maybe someplace new. Never make too many plans, as they always seem to get changed.

PS: anyone want to plan a mini-meet in Feb??? let me know.

But, of course. I am not sure about the dates yet. I might go in May,either after my niece's graduation from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga or before. Who knows, I just may go from ATL. But I will try to go again for my b-day 9-19, if I haven't moved there. I still have to visit The Rio, The Palms, Sams Town, I love going to Laughlin, eating, seeing the Habitat at the Mirage, catching the Sirens of TI (I made it to Treasure Island when it finished 3x).Oh yes, visiting my brother and sister in law. Winters in Buffalo, NY can be pretty harsh.

5 Days in January specifically for Jan 19 at the House of Blues. LISA LAMPANELLI...the Queen of Mean. Love seeing her live and she was my excuse for Vegas in Jan. Staying at the WYNN for $139/night.
Spring Break (April) in Vegas...probably downtown.
My annual 2 week road trip in July which includes flying into Vegas and renting a car to visit Nevada, Death Valley, Arizona, etc. The trip ends back in Vegas for at least 3 days to lay around a pool w/drink service and gambling most of the night.
I learned the hard way that October is one of the most expensive and busiest times of the year. 2008 will have me visiting around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

My trip with my mother is scheduled for April 28-May 2.
I just booked my package through USAirways staying at Fitzgerald's downtown.
This is my 4th trip in 10 1/2 years.
On the Agenda this trip:
1. Karaoke
2. Rio Seafood Buffet
3. Circus Circus or Bellagio War Game. Dying to try that.
4. Venetian Madame Taussauds museum, forgive the spelling.
5. Visit El Cortez and the Gold Spike
6. Jay White and La Cage Shows
7. See the Wynn - missed that on the last trip
8. Spend more time at Slots of Fun - about 8 hours ha ha ha
9. Play Bingo at the Plaza
10. See the Freemont show from the 2nd floor of Fizgerald's or 4 Queens which everyone has that bar / balcony thing.
11. Caesar's Animitronic show and a drink at the Seahorse bar and to visit that black/red casino I fell in love with in 2000.
12. Carinval Court - again. That was too awesome!
That's the short list

I have been going at least twice, and occasionally as often as 5 or 6 times a year since 1987. There have probably been around 60 trips.
2008 will probably be a three trip year.
I don't have much of a to do list because I have already done everything I have wanted to do.
One thing I need to do again is have dinner at the Top of the Stratosphere. It may be the best kept restaurant secret in town. Not cheap, but no pricier than the "in" places, with food just as good and a view that is the best in town. A window table at sunset is hard to beat.
I stay at a variety of places, usually dictated by an offer or a comp of some sort. Most recently though, I have discovered vacation rentals that give me a private, upscale three or four bedroom house with a private pool and top notch amenities in a great neighborhood for no more money than a nice room in a mid level hotel like the Monte Carlo or NY,NY.
When traveling with another couple or two, we can all live like kings wthin 10 minutes of the strip, less expensively than we could stay at a low cost hotel.

I don't know if I can afford to go yet, I have a niece getting married out of town. That may be the only trip I can manage next year. I may have to live vicariously through the rest of you. So I hope you do some pretty fun stuff. LOL Make me proud.

All I think about is my next trip to Vegas so of course I have some trips planned!
Possibly March before baseball season starts (Go Angels!)
Definitely the first weekend of June with my best friend and Vegas soulmate! The only show planned is to see Bobby Slayton. He is so funny! We will be drinking (Caesar's outside bar has THE best margaritas!!!), gambling, hang out at the pool (MGM), clubbing (Tryst and JET), and having the best Vegas weekend ever!!!!! :)
Hopefully for Steve's weekend in July!!!
Possibly the end of September for the Kings pre-season hockey game!
DEFINITELY... Thanksgiving weekend for my 30th birthday!!!!
It is so nice to be so close to my favorite city!!! 45 minute flight or a 3 1/2 to 4 hour drive!!!!! :D

We are booked for May at the Grandview accross from Sount Point.
It is our first trip in the spring and first off the strip so we are looking forward to having a daily visit to the same casino.
We are also talking about a second trip in 2008, a first for us.

We'll be there from Feb. 27 through Mar. 11. We'll be attending the Tennis Channel Open tennis tournament again. We're huge tennis fans and also huge Vegas fans!! What a perfect combination :-)
Hoping to go for the July Slot Tournament, never participated in one before.

Second trip, week before Xmas to celebrate 60th birthday and where else but Vegas.

I usually go 3 times per year - April, August, and November.
The only things I want to do at this point are definitely see Bette Midler and also check out the Envy Steakhouse.
Although I usually stay on the Strip, at some point I'd like to stay at Red Rock Station, if they'd ever send me an offer!

1. Feb 16-19th - 3 friends (no wives) who go out every year mainly to eat and play blackjack, slots, and texas hold em. Staying at the Orleans.:)
2. July - Going out with a friend to celebrate his son's 21st birthday and our
retirements. 35 years in education. Looking to stay at Imperial Palace since this is his son's first visit.
3.October - My wife and I went out last year in October and she really liked the weather. :p
4. November - My retiree buddy is a big Kentucky Wildcats fan and they are playing in the Las Vegas Classic at the Orleans where we always stay. Sounds like a good reason to go !!!!!!!;)
Since I am retiring in June, I hope to make 3-4 trips a year to my favorite place.

Aside from Steve's get together in July, the following trips are definite:
March 30-April 3. Apex trade show. This will be a first for me--actually working in Las Vegas. I'm rather conflicted about doing a trade show in LV since it's a long day in the booth and, usually, at the end of the day, I want nothing more than to order a pizza and watch TV. We'll see how that works out.
Sometime in August there is a Passkey (hotel software) conference at the Wynn. My supervisor told me that I'm going this year. That might be more fun---I just have to sit in training classes during the day.
There probably will be another couple of trips just for fun. I need to see what offers come in before I lock in my dates.

Thanks for asking. Yes!! Next week, 12/10-12/13, my wife and I will go to Vegas to celebrate her birthday. We will stay this time(1st time) at Harrah's since we got two free nights and the third for $45. Also, my Continental Airline pilot friend is providing "buddy passes" for the flight. Cheap Trip!!!! We will try to do most of our play at Sam's Town or one of the other "locals" casinos. Also, there are a couple of ancient banks of single line dollar machines at Circus, Circus that I've won money on before. Might have to try those out. Hope to take the wife for her first time to Freemont Street and check out the newly remodeled Golden Nugget. Looking forward to some mindless R&R and hopefully win a vew bucks.

I will definetely go to Las Vegas in mid to end September. I am looking forward to it. I already look for good flight rates from Germany to the USA.
I already take notes on a to-do list. I want to go to the Paris breakfast buffet
(you guys really like them, so I wanna also try it), to the JJ Boulangerie at Paris for having sandwich and coffee (saw it this year from outside, but didnīt have the time) and I wanna go and see 2 or 3 shows, but I have to decide which ones.
Canīt hardly wait til September, until then I will join this Forum and the Newsletter regularly.

October seems to work the best for us - a pre-holiday vacation before all the craziness begins.
Our favorite day in Vegas is the day we take the tram down to MGM Grand and then spend the day walking back - in and out of all the casinos and lunch at Harley Davidson Cafe. When the sun's shining, it doesn't get any better than that!!

My first 2008 LV trip will be the weekend of March 15 with my daughter and hopefully my son, as well.
IF my son gets to go along, the one thing that I will be sure to do is get a picture of his awe struck face when he sees the lit up strip for the first time. He is the only one in our family who has never been to the great city of LAS VEGAS.
The other big plan for this trip is to see LOVE.
Next trip will probably be in June for hubby's birthday. (Or maybe April, for mine?;))

12-06-2007, 10:59 AM
The answer is YES. Since we are going this Dec. 07, our first 08 Vegas trip probably won't be until May for either Kentucky Derby or my Birthday. I am also planning to go to the ELV meet and tournament in July. Feb. 08 won't be wasted because we will be at Harrah's Rincon in San Diego county for the WSOP circuit tournament. Not exactly Vegas, but it will do. Since I also live in driving distance to Las Vegas (about 31/2 hours) last minute trips are always a possibility. The only special plan I have this year is to drive out to Red Rock Canyon and the Red Rock hotel as for some reason I have not done that yet and want to.

My husband and I are planning our 20th wedding anniversary for November, 2008! My plans are to stay at my favorite place, Bellagio. See Barry Manilow (if he's still there), see Bette Midler, see Love (if it's still there), Legends in Concert (haven't seen them yet in all these years), dine at Eiffel Tower Rest., and I'm sure I'll find a famous comedian headlining that particular week to go and see. Not sure yet what else until I get a little closer to the date. By Aug./Sept. I'll have everything booked.

:oSuper Bowl weekend baby! Also, we're going to see George Strait at the MGM on Sat. Feb 2nd for BF's birthday. I'm looking forward to a fresh margarita at Margaritaville!
We'll definitely be there in '08!
A sure thing we do every year is a trip in May. We drive in from Arizona and meet up with my sister and brother-in-law who fly in from Iowa. We're usually there from a Thursday to Monday and our MUST DO's include a Champagne brunch somewhere on Saturday and the Margarita brunch at Gardunos at the Palms on Sunday. Another thing we usually do without fail is at least one trip to Margaritaville, whether for a meal, to split a plate of nachos or just for their yummy margaritas. We love to sit upstairs on the outdoor patio and enjoy our margaritas and the sights of Vegas. So basically, we plan to drink a lot, gamble a lot and have a lot of fun!
If possible, would love to make it in July for the arrangements Steve has made. However, it's a pretty good bet that we'll make it there a few times in 2008. That's one of the plusses of being within driving distance or a short plane ride away (although we prefer to drive as we hate the hassels that come with flying and also like to have our car while there).
We'll actually be there in less than two weeks for a quick trip before Christmas...can't wait!

Yes we will go twice this year! Our first trip will be in May and second wil be in October. We have done this for the past few years and these months seem to be the best for weather, not too hot and not too cold. All of the normal tourist stuff, free atrtractions and a full assault on the buffet circuit are always on the slate. We'll be bringing my sister-in-law this time (will be her 3rd visit and 8th). Probably a Circ show and most likely a Std Vegas style topless show. If any one has suggestions we are open for new ideas.

My "first" trip is finally all set....Jan. 13 to Feb. 8. One week in Vegas, one week in Reno with DH, and the rest of the time in Laughlin (It's warmer there).
Most room nights came in free, and I got offers for shows in Reno and Laughlin. Agenda: lots of walking/sitting in the sun, gambling, free daily slot tournaments and one "real" one at the Strat, shows, eating leisurely breakfasts while reading the LVRJ start to finish, and checking out downtown. Haven't been down there for over a year.
Hope to do one or two more trips after this one, but nothing set yet.

I plan on taking the drive down to Las Vegas for CES in a couple of weeks.
On behalf of all of us in the "Public Sector" here in Nevada, we cordially invite as many of you as possible to visit as soon as possible and spend as much as possible...from what we hear from Carson City, we need to get sales tax receipts up ASAP to avoid some nasty 5-8% budget cuts.

Oh yes we will be taking a trip, probably not until October '08. We didn't go in 2007 because of the awful noise the construction crew did during the night next to the Jockey Club. Hopefully by October the interior noise will be muffled by walls so one can sleep. Sherry

First I want to pay much more attention to the mailed offers I get from the different casinos. Since Harrahs took over the IP your break or deal on your stay is not what it use to be.
I will be paying much more attention to the competitions offers.
Secondly, I will MAKE MYSELF not pack so many damn clothes. Although this year I did not pack as much as last year, it was still too much.
I will also be paying more attention to how others have been treated by airlines other than Delta. Delta's handling of their customers during this recent delays and cancellations this past weekend was very poor to say the least and that is a very long story, one I will be writing to them about very shortly.
That, at the moment is what I am planning for my 2008 trip.........lol

We have a trip planned in February. It is a birthday celebration for one of my "big" birthdays.
We are having friends and family go with us.Many of the people who were with us when we were married by Elvis 5 years ago will be there. We have not been since November 2006 so this is the longest time we have spent away from our favorite city.
This trip we will eat at Top of the World (1st time), bet the horses
(1st time) Carrot Top (1st time), staying at Paris (1st time).
Red Square (every time), Bellagio conservatory (every time),Quarks Restaurant (every time),Gambeling (every time).
Counting the days!!!

We will be driving to Vegas the middle of January for the Las Vegas Classic Knife Show at the Riviera in which we will be set up. So that one will be pretty much a business trip.:( But a planned May trip for the last five years or so (we try to set it up over Mother's Day) will be strictly drinking, eating, drinking, gambling, and did I say drinking?:p That is the one we really look forward to. We have been to so many good places to eat, but we still have a lot more to try.

We're planning to visit Las Vegas in October for the 5th year in a row. It was iffy for a while - our kids invited us to join them at Disney World ( don't snicker- it'll be the first time for our grandchildren, ages will be 6 and 4 and a half then and we do want to go with them) for Thanksgiving. But they agreed that Feb. school break would be better, so now we're happily planning both trips.
Would like to see Bette Midler, Rich Little, Louie Anderson, visit the Pinball Hall of Fame, shopping, of course. Would like to eat at Bradley Ogden.

In 2006, I made four trips to Vegas. In 2007, all but one of my trips had to be cancelled for one reason or another. AAAARGH!
This weekend, I will be booking my first trip for 2008. It will be in late January or early February. Just have to sift through my room offers and pick, then book. Since I'm going solo this trip, I can improvise a lot.
This trip I'm planning to hit some of the entertainment choices my usual traveling companions aren't interested in. I'll probably be seeing mostly tix-4-tonight type acts. I also think I may spend one night downtown to see what that's like. I haven't had nearly the time to explore there that I would like.
I'm also beginning plans for an August trip with Mike and Justin. That's the trip we're planning to see Bette Midler.

I'm sure it will be packed as it is Superbowl Weekend, so we will escape to the off-strip casinos for the weekend. Hopefully, I'll have a nice TR for you when we get back.

We've booked our end-of-April trip on SW (one FF trip and one paid) and have two our of three free nights at Harrah's. If all goes well, we'll book another one for the end of October.
Eat, drink, gamble......
My dear sister gave us two Southwest round trip tickets from Birmingham to LV for Christmas this year :D. 3/15-3/22 during our spring break. Now I've got to find rooms. Harrah's has not sent me any offers past Feb 2008 as of yet. Hope we can get rooms at the Flamingo as we love the location. We will be doing Love, KA, and Rita Rudner this time around. I'm also thinking of Mac King since an afternoon show would be fun and I've heard good reviews of his show. For meals we will hit the buffets at Main Street Station, Rio, the Wynn and Paris at the very least. I'm going to push for a meal at the Steakhouse too, despite it being in Circus Circus. A great place to eat even with the dozens of rug rats running around the halls The first trip out in a couple of years and we can't wait!!!:p

Yes, but T time is too long! Aug 16-22...waiting for SW to open up to those dates to secure flights ( for 6-8 ). Will stay at Paris and or Bally's as usual but will need cheap rooms for Sat arrival. We gamble, gamble, gamble with a little shopping thrown in & always do the Paris breakfast buffy, EI & Margaritaville. We have rest.com certificates for Oceans in MM shops so will give that place a try this year. Gonna keep an eye out for other certificates for places we haven't experienced. Anyone have any good ideas???
Our first trip back as "Diamond" players with Harrah's will be April 26-May 2. 5 nights comp. Looking forward to trying out all the Diamond Lounges ;)

Just planned a 4-night trip with hubby for the end of February. We have a couple nights comped at Harrah's. Nothing special planned. I will probably play in a low cost poker tourney somewhere and maybe a session of BINGO at Gold Coast.
We may see Jay White (Neil Diamond impersonator) and Fab Four Mania- two shows we never seem to get to each trip.
Hubby's making a list of places he wants to dine while my list only includes a meal at the Grande Lux.
Looking forward to strolling through Palazzo. I will play lots of video poker and my new favorite table game- Black Jack Switch (at Casino Royale).
We are still debating whether to rent a car. We almost always rent a car but I'm inclined to take the deuce and shuttles while hubby worries cab fare will limit his dining choices.
Ok, now I'm really getting excited. Anticipation is one of the best parts of a trip to Vegas!

My hubby, my brother, his wife & our dad will be heading to Vegas for the 3rd summer in a row. We all work in education, so the heat of July is the only time we can do it. Last year, we stayed downtown at MSS & liked it so much, we are doing it again this year. Each year, we add more time. First summer was 4 nights at the Venetian ($$$$), last year was 5 nights at MSS ($$), now we are staying an entire week. We'll be there July 6th - July 13th. Looking forward to the easiness of downtown, another amazing meal at Hugo's Cellar @ Four Queens, an overload of poker, a good day of walking on the strip & sightseeing and a nice week away from the kids.

We go to Vegas twice a year in April and October. Our April trip is just a "girls" trip and is planned for April 19-26, staying at Ballys. Flights are booked for 218.00 round trip plus taxes, which is the cheapest I've seen them for awhile from Green Bay to Vegas. We plan to look through the Palazzo and also see "Jersey Boys" and visit Red Rock Casino as it's been on our "to do" list since it opened. Other than that will just "wing it" and do what we want when we want to. We don't even have any restaurants picked out or reserved this trip. I know we will have one meal at MAG and probably one lunch at the Grand Lux.

Planning a trip to Vegas at the end of April for 7 days. Most likely will be staying for my first time at Fitzgerald's. Will be celebrating my b-day as well as my boyfriend's during our time there.
I am really looking forward to seeing some of the new casinos since I have not been to Vegas since '03. I purchased discount tickets on ebay to see the drag cabaret show at Lucky Cheng's restaurant. :D
Considering going to Mount Charleston and the Springs Preserve as time away from the wild Vegas fun
Will probably do some "traditional" site seeing to the Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire (time permitting) since my bf has not been to either place.

My husband and I went to Lucky Cheng's in Dec. I laughed really hard, almost got a hernia when our waitress sat on my husbands lap and put is hands on his/her chest, my husband did not enjoy it as much as I did. It is a very tactile and interactive show to so say the least. The food was very very good by the way.

i've been off this board for the past year because it was too depressing to read when I had no trips to LV planned. But I finally talked some family members (the fun ones, of course) into a trip the second week of December since it's so relatively inexpensive then. Just starting to shop for hotels, but my husband and I love the Venetian and I think that's where we'll all end up!

My wife and I will leave 2 weeks from today. WE have our rooms compted for 6 days at El Cortez, but might stay only 4. We just gamble to have fun and try and make a little coin, all the while smoking and getting our liquor on (Coronas) in my case. This trip we will drive over to the Hoover Dam (don't worry, I'll be sober for that trip :D) and then probably take the duece to the strip and see all the different casinos, all the wile trying to maintain my alcohol buzz.

Just do you're not disappointed when you get to Las Vegas, Larry has closed his show and is in negotioations with an undisclosed strip property.
Also the Vinnie Favorito show is hysterical but might be offensive if you don't know his material.

Yippee 2 days at Silverton and 3 days comped at PH (comped due to a rude person at the a-list players club). My husband says the heat really doesn't matter because your inside or at the pool all the time anyways. I am looking forward to the heat my self we have had over 600 inches of snow this winter and it snowed 3 inches last night, I need to thaw out for awhile. ;)

July 20 - 24 going back to the Monte Carlo.
We tried the Luxor last visit and were terribly disappointed.
I love going in the summer. Since I live in Texas, the heat isn't a big change. Also, we spend so little time outside with all the walkways between hotels and such that it isn't a big deal.
In all the times we've stayed in the Luxor we've never seen Lance Burton. So, that is our goal this trip. We try to do one evening and one afternoon show each stay. We haven't decided on a good afternoon show yet. I like comedy but prefer something that is fairy tame and almost "family friendly". Any suggestions?

Going April 20-26 and staying at Caesars.
I started out trying not to have too many plans this time, but I asked my aunt to come along for the first few days since she needs a getaway after her knee replacement in January. My uncle (her brother) is joining us too and he likes to play craps.
Per first post (major) plans include - Monday: Going downtown to play craps, eat at Hugos, and see the Rat Pack. Tuesday going to outlet mall, see Big Elvis & meet up with people wearing boas, maybe go to Rao's, see Spamalot if we can get half-price tickets. Wednesday: Relax, shop, go to Dick's Last Resort & other places later on, and probably some lounges at Caesars in the evening; I want to see Pussycat Dolls, hope I don't feel too old there :p. Thursday: Palazzo for lunch; Venetian sportsbook and LaScena Lounge, Trader Vic's patio, and see Jimmy Hopper, end up at Carnaval Court. Friday: play craps, end up at Carnaval Court.

My best friend and I are going to Vegas for my fourth time and her first! I am hoping she loves it as much as I do. Since she lives in OHIO and I live in Florida, it will be nice getting to spend time together. We are very interested in seeing as many hotels as we can(mainly for her) and partying as much as humanly possible. We plan to hit downtown, as many clubs/lounges as possible, do grand canyon, good meals, and good shopping. We have both been shopping for months for fun outfits to wear to vegas. We are staying at Harrahs but I recently received an email to stay at Bally's for only 25 dollars more! We go the room for 4 nites for 303.00 including taxes. I thought that was a great deal since one nite was a weekend nite. Now I am wondering what we should do since we want to be able to hit the pool and I have NOT heard great things about Harrah's pool. Any advice anyone?

We are going May 15-18. On Saturday we are renting a boat and scuba diving at Lake MEad. We hope to see a couple shows, eat out at some nice places, and get tan drinking bloody mary's by the pool.
Now I am wondering what we should do since we want to be able to hit the pool and I have NOT heard great things about Harrah's pool. Any advice anyone? I would stick with Harrah's myself. The pool is not "pretty" but it's functional and there are plenty of places to sit. You can also hear the Carnaval Court music which gives a very Vegassy feeling. I don't like that looonnng walk to the rooms at Bally's.

Well my 3rd trip to Vegas this year which I was planning for Oct/Nov is on hold with the rising airfares here in Canada.
Currently a return fare on Air Canada is just over $600 and on WestJet is just over $700. Add that to about $400 for the accomodations and well not much left to spend and gamble and have fun with.
My last trip in April cost myself and a friend $600 each for the 5 nights at MGM Grand and return airfare with Air Canada. (MGM $391us /$400cdn total for 5 nights, Air Canada $350 return fare).
Now with the rising fuel costs and more chcrages added to airfares here, I may wait until January. If the cost is the same or more then my Vegas trips will be on hold.
Driving to Buffalo is out of the question too because of the cost of gas, then the cost of parking your car at the airport.
April was a fun time, walked The Strip from Circus Circus to MGM Grand one day, attended the Avril Lavigne concert at the Palms, Rosanne Barr at the Sahara. Went to the Hard Rock, won a bit there, Rio and Palms as well. Had a blast as always and can't wait to do it all again... Will attend the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in January again if I do hit Vegas. Vegas rocks in every aspect.

Will attend the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in January again if I do hit Vegas. Vegas rocks in every aspect.
Hi
Have you checked out www.travelzoo.ca? they seem to have some good inclusive deals for Vegas.

My next trip is for the last week in June, and then again for the middle of September - I am staying at my usual haunt, The Bellagio, on both trips and I have comp tickets to see the Bette Midler and Wayne Brady shows in June and to the Criss Angel Cirque Du Soleil show in September which all look great...I also always make sure to see Dian Diaz perform at The Fontana Bar in Bellagio - she is an amazing entertainer. Apart from that, gambling (of course) eating tons of great food and the usual crazy Vegas stuff. ;)

My first trip of 2008 is a little more than a week away now.
We are staying at Excalibur but otherwise don't have any solid plans yet for anything special we will be doing on this trip... we will probably see 2 shows and have one really nice dinner out, but will wait to decide after we arrive.

I recommend seeing Carrot Top, who is right next door at The Luxor - the theater is small enough that every seat is a great one and they are not all that expensive. He is HILARIOUS and I laughed non-stop the entire time, Just be warned the humor is very risque so it is not for kids - I loved it!!

My last 5 trips to Las Vegas we stayed at Luxor and they always gave us 2-for-1 tickets to see Carrot Top... but never did.
I've talked to people who saw the show and have said the show is actually pretty good, but from all the times I've seen him on TV or making a guest spot on a show, etc I've found him pretty annoying.
But in the end we'll see what happens. We don't plan much for shows or entertainment we'll see while there becuase a lot of it depends on what we decide when there based upon how we feel and what we are in the mood for.
Not sure if that many people on this site have seen one of my trip reports or not... but when I do the one for this trip up I'll post the link here as well in the trip report forum.

as a matter fact I do have a vegas trip planned. A girlfriend & I are going in August. We don't have a real To Do List as of yet, but I know some things on the top of our lists would be those awesome vegas shows I've heard about and the sights.
Any recommendations?

Not reccomending any shows myself, but will put out there:
If you want to see any of the REALLY BIG shows (like LOVE and most of the other Cirque shows or some of the really big name performers) you should look in to booking tickets online now.
Many of them will be sold out or maybe only bad seats available by the time you actually do arrive.
For most of the other shows you can get discount tickets when you actually get to Las Vegas at the discount ticket outlets or via coupons found in many of the free visitor guides in the city.

The week's Topic Of The Week question is:
Do you have a trip planned for Las Vegas in 2008?
If so, what are some of the things on your TO DO list?
Steve
We have a trip planned for December...180 days. Hopefully we'll be able to get away in late August-early September as well.
No specific plans yet except to collect our Wynn buffets that were given to us when we signed up for their players cards. Oh, and we're definitely going to try the Four Kegs. SO far that's it .:)

Greetings all!
I will be going to Vegas next week 5/29-5/31. This will be my 3rd trip this year. I am responding to a $1200 shopping spree offer at the RIO. After shopping and getting an 80 minute massage, I plan to hit a Royal then maybe line up 3 triple diamonds...Wish me luck!

We arrive July 15 at 9am and leave July 23 at 12:35 AM. We had a toss up between staying at Golden Nugget or Monte Carlo. Decided we like to do more night gambling and drinking downtown so picked Golden Nugget. With the 100 or so dollars we saved by picking Golden Nugget we are renting a car to take trips off stip to various places and see the desert. I'm so excited. and who knows....may just tie the knot when we get there;)

I just got back from Vegas, & will probably stop through there in September on my way through Mesquite. It will probably be a quick stop at the Wynn/Palazzio.

Just an FYI - make sure you bring a lot of water along with you if you are going to be exploring the desert by car in July, since that is the hottest month in Vegas and you definitely want to make sure that you stay hydrated....

We have our second trip for this year planned in July for my husbands birthday. We were there in February for my birthday and really had no intention of going back so soon.
We like to go in November right after Thanksgiving though after much discussion with a wedding trip to New Orleans planned in October and the holidays we did not see a trip to Vegas happening in November.
We had a small more local trip planned from my husbands birthday but after free rooms at Ballys and a deal at Bellagio we decided back to Vegas.
Not many plans so far as this will be our shortest trip at 3 nights and since we have been many times we have already done a lot. With limited time we wont see any shows but we will:
Eat at Prime
Visit the Fontana Bar
Enjoy Bellagio
Gamble at Paris
Visit Our Favorite Bar at Caesars
Have so much fun we will be held over until November 2009 :D
Everyone enjoy their trips,

I hope you have a fantastic trip - it sounds like you are making the most of your three days and have a ton of great things planned!!
Just an FYI - Dian Diaz, who performs in The Fontana is going to be performing at the MGM properties in Mississippi during most of the month of July, which usually means the Bellagio is hosting poker tournaments in the Fontana Bar and it would be closed off to customers during that time - you should call the concierge (and maybe even speak to the person who runs Fontana) just to confirm that it will be open on the dates you are visiting...

My boyfriend and I are going to Vegas for our 5 year anniversary! Luckily, it falls on a Saturday, so we'll be spending Friday, Saturday, Sunday and leaving Monday. After much debate as to whether or not to spend the money on hotel or more gambling, we met in the middle with Treasure Island. We can't wait to try the Bellagio buffet and see if we can try for Diamond in a Day status at Caesars. Does anyone know if that promotion is ongoing? And if roulette does me well, we'll be buying tickets to Zumanity! Also, we'll probably rent a cabana for a half day since it's half-priced.

The best day & time to try the Bellagio buffet is Friday evening for dinner - that is the night when they have the gourmet buffet and it is awesome....Happy Anniversary!!!

My trip is planned for July 26 to July 30. Staying at MGM which we comped. Just last week I noticed my airfare DROPPED! Called Jet blue, they credited my account for the difference (140.00) . The family traveling with me got a credit of 280.00. So we are off to a good start!
We are going to play it by ear....we really go to Vegas to gamble then gamble and then gamble a little more (LOL), once in a while we do stop eat something...quickly!
But, this trip will a little different, my friend wants to bring their son who is only 16, so I think things will deffinately be different. Hopefully this trip won't turn into a disaster, trying to keep him from not getting bored, and that we will still be able to gamble.

I have a 16 year old brother, and I can tell you from experience: send a 16 year old boy to a buffet and all will be bliss! Not to mention he'll probably be happy just people watching since summer brings a lot of young girls. And I would imagine that the family might like a little alone time, at which point you can make a run for the casino!
I hope it works out for you guys!!! Let us know when you get back :)

Please remember that the lines will be hours long on the weekend for the Bellagio buffet.
You might want to consider going as early as possible, even getting there about 30 minutes before the dinner buffet opens.

Great point!!! I would have been so bummed! Do you know if you can earn a comped buffet at Bellagio if you're signing up for a new players card and earn x amount of pts?

You should call in advance and ask the Players Club - I am sure if you earn enough points there you can get a lot of things comped lol If you do happen to manage to earn enough to get buffet comps you should also try to ask for a line pass - it sure couldn't hurt. It is mainly for guests that stay in suites but if you are doing that much play I would say try and ask for it anyway. I always get the pass and I love it because it allows you to bypass those massive lines at the Buffet and Cafe Bellagio (if you happen to be near Bellagio during breakfast, Cafe Bellagio has my favorite breakfast thing ever - Maryland Crab Cakes benedict - awesome! There is a lobster omelet that is great too but the Maryland Crab Cakes dish is the best. And Cafe Gelato near the pool has the best gelato - I am going in two weeks and plan to have some every single day lol

Not sure if they still do it but in the past, The Bellagio would give you a line pass if you had enough points.
