My friend and I took a last minute trip to LV, Sept 26-28. Girls only.Left hubbies and kids at home. Flew out of Calgary on America West at 7:00am (but we had to leave home at 3:00am to get there) on a direct flight. Arrived in LV at 8:30 am to 85 degree weather. YAY!!

No waiting for bags, just had our carry-ons,grabbed a cab over to the Rio.
Went to Diamond check-in. No rooms ready yet. Oh well, onward to gambling.
Found some Match game penny machines, never seen those before. Inserted 20$ played for an hour and cashed out with $50. Not too bad.

The diamond check in called and said our room was ready, so off we go to the Masquerade Tower and the 13th floor(without a coffee maker) That should have been the first indication that things were not going to go well.

Drop off our bags, and back down to gamble. My friend goes one way, me to my favorite bank of blazing 7 machines.Played there for an hour up and down and down. Cash out with the 100 I put in. Find girlfriend, she has won $2200 on $1 cleopatra machine, she is now sitting at the $1 top hat and has $1200 in it. Lucky her. Walk back to lucky ? sevens and a woman is sitting at the machine where I just was and has $1800 in it.

On to $1 VP. Nothing. 25cent VP. Nothing. Rapid roulette, small wins, lost it all. Diamond room, at least free food and drink.
Decide to catch shuttle to Harrahs. To make a long story short, nothing there either. Down the strip we go. In and out of casinos. Into the MGM finally win on a 2x 5x penny machine, cashed out went to play $1 majestic lions, lost it.
Back to the Rio for supper at the Buffet. As always the buffet is great. My girlfriend can eat her weight in crab legs and she does.
Played some more, finally won $800 on $1 tabasco machine. Went to bed.
The rest of the trip pretty much followed the first day. I pretty much figured out that I was a loser. :(
Hopefully when we go in December to the NFR, I'll do a better job of winning.

Isn't the 13th floor skipped in hotels? Was at Rio last summer and wondered about that when I noticed it listed as a floor in the elevator. I wasn't staying on it, thank heavens.

Hope you had time to catch the Ronn Lucas afternoon show while you were staying at the Rio. He does a great ventriloquist/puppet show (the best!) and is a very personable entertainer.
If you missed hime, be sure to catch his show next time thru the Rio.

13 is my number. i wouldn't say it is lucky .it is just MY number. i was born on friday the 13th

if i remember correctly the Rio has a 13th floor . but it doesn't have any floors that begin with a 3. 3, 30-39
some asian cultures think numbers that begin with a 3 are unlucky.and 13 is not an unlucky number to them. I think that is the story anyway.or something like that.

We actually stayed in room 1313 at the Imperial Palace and I think we won on that trip. My house # is also 13.

Some airlines don't have a Row 13....Their planes skip right over and

and go from Row 12 to Row 14. Some do and some don't. Can't remember

which ones. We've taken several different airlines the last few trips.
