You long to see Paris but don't want the hassle of foreign travel, so you've come to Las Vegas instead. Lucky you. At Paris Las Vegas you can have your croissant and eat it, too.

"Our" Paris has the sights—smashing replicas of such Paris landmarks as the famous opera house, Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower; and the sounds—just listen to the chatter as you stroll through the streets of this enchanting French village.

Dining is at the top of the list of things to at Paris on the Strip as it is in Paris, France. And just as it is in its namesake city, Paris Las Vegas is always abreast of the times with new food trends as well as classic French cuisine.

At the top of this trés chic hotel's dining list is a smaller yet exact replica of the original Eiffel Tower restaurant. Housed within the tower, 11 stories above the Strip, the view is simply spectacular.

To reach the restaurant (you must have a reservation), check in at the casino-level reservation desk. Then take the glass elevator to the restaurant leve, where your adventure begins. Sophisticated and elegant, the restaurant and bar is pure eye candy with its updated techno-disco décor with a bit of contemporary art deco. No matter what it's dubbed, the burgundy and silver colors are smashing.

The glass-enclosed dining room offers a fairy-tale view of the Strip and a premium view of the fountains and water show at Bellagio. Request a window table when making your reservation. As you exit the elevator, you are warmly greeted and taken to the bar or your table—your choice.

For the ultimate dining experience, have the degustation menu. A tasting menu and a la carte selections are also available. Under the gracious guidance of general manager Lyle Tolhurst, service is always outstanding.

A four-course tasting menu typically includes an amuse bouche, lobster salad, cream of Boston lettuce soup with petite chicken quenelles, a seasonal fish presentation, and sautéed venison medallions with a huckleberry sauce. For dessert, you have a choice of an Eiffel Tower dessert or one of the delectable souffles, from chocolate, to Grand Mariner, to raspberry.

The petit fours that follow are also irresistible.

The degustation features six courses (including dessert) and, like the tasting menu, must be ordered for everyone at the table.

A vegetarian cassoulet is accompanied with many side dishes. Eiffel Tower restaurant recently added a light fare menu that is offered daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is served nightly from 5:30 to 10:15. A separate bar menu features a jumbo shrimp cocktail, raw oysters, a French Brie and fig compote, and an eclectic selection of other small plates.

Creator of the Eiffel Tower concept, owner Jean Joho is an award-winning chef associated with the Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You group founded by Rich Melman. Chef Jean makes regular visits to Paris Las Vegas and loves to meet Eiffel Tower diners. Friendly and accessible, he's a dear man.

And the Eiffel Tower ... it's trés bien!
