Four girls are taking a trip to Vegas the first weekend in November and we are going to Lucky Cheng's. Has anyone been there? I have been to the website and have not seen any outside reviews of the place etc...

We figured it would be a great place to drink and carry one for our 40th birthdays..

Go to SEARCH and type in Lucky Cheng's and it will bring up about 4 threads about the restuarant but keep in mind the Lucky Cheng's changed locations since most of the threads.

Dear Stephanie,

I was there last October. I wrote about it in my trip report. Here is the excerpt:

We had 8pm reservations at Lucky Cheng's. That's an experience. First of all, the food was very good. You get three courses for $40 per person. The servers are all drag queens and most, I thought, were very pretty. Our server, Cherish, told me that only one of them had the operation. Some of them wore pretty skimpy outfits and I'd swear they had the operation because, well, certain telltale signs weren't there. I asked Cherish about that and she told me it (the missing equipment) was taped up.

If you are with a big group of girls and you want to have dinner and drinks and get rowdy, this is a great place. From what I understand, it is very popular with Bachelorette parties. There was one large bachelorette party (or "drunken whores" as the mistress of ceremonies, Ginger "I'm 6'2, 225 pounds and I can mess you up" Grant, called them).

It was Saturday night and it wasn't very crowded---surprising. A lot of the stuff they do is lewd but the D.W.'s seemed to have a good time. I'm thinking that, if the place is really packed, it should be a hoot and a half. If you're a prude, don't go. If you're a straight man, you might not be comfortable being groped by another man----even if he is pretty and has good legs.

The one thing for which I was not prepared: tips. This place is billed as a drag queen cabaret and karaoke. Only two of the performers actually sang karaoke. The rest lip synced. That was it. You are expected to tip them $1 for their efforts and they make you stuff the bills in their bras or wherever else you want. That's a little creepy. Some of those breasts were bigger than mine and I came by mine honestly. Also, I have no real skill set for stuffing money into someone else's bra. I had the money for the tips but I might have thought twice about going had I known. Oh well, good fun and good food.

Have a great time.

Lori

Thanks,
I have read those reviews. I was not sure if anyone had beenthere more recently.
The four of us always have a good time when we get together in Vegas so I am not too concerned. I just want the food to be good. It will help soak up the booze.

Here is my review back from July...

We got to Vegas mid afternoon and kicked back a little. We were trying to decide just what we had the energy for dinner wise, we looked through a couple of visitor mags and decided this would be a good night to solve our curiosity about Lucky Cheng's. I called for reservations and got them for 6:30 PM. What they don't tell you on the phone is that the show part doesn't start until 8:30. Our Drag Queen Vivian came and took our order, you get your drink right away but had to wait at least another 45 mins for the salad and then another 30 mins for the entree...they are trying to space out your time until the show starts. They have a prix fixe dinner at $55 per person ...3 courses. I ordered a Caesar salad, black and white sesame crusted salmon and my sister had a skewer sampler plate, we both had pear creme brulee for dessert. The good and the bad....the food was quite good save for the creme brulee, not so great. HOWEVER, after waiting all that time, the queens start their show. They have the usual smart remarking host(ess) and several different queens dancing and lip syncing including whoever your server was. The show was cute but by no means great. There was, or maybe still is, a drag club in the LA area called the Queen Mary ( it ain't the boat) that had outstanding performers. Having been to that one a couple of times this was no comparison. The performances weren't that good and none of the boys would ever fool you into thinking they are really girls.
Bottom line...with the total bill coming to $160 , that is way more than I would ever pay to see a boy in a dress unless they were way more entertaining....and growing up in the Los Angeles area...I don't have to look too far to see a boy in a dress!!!
