Steve - in this week's newletter the following is reported:

High-profile restaurants on and off the Strip will participate in Las Vegas Restaurant Week Sept. 2-8. Three-course dinners will be offered for $50.07 per person, with part of the proceeds going to Las Vegas-based Three Square, a nonprofit organization that serves an average of 3,000 meals a week to elderly people and those in need.

-I have no idea of the accuracy of the following , but someone posted on another board that only $1 per person would be contributed to Three Square. A $1 doesn't seem like much - do you have any idea how much per meal is contributed to this worthy cause?

Frank,

I Goggled it and checked every article and did not find any that listed what portion of the cost would go to the charity..very weird.

I would guess that the event itself isn't a "fundraising" event, but rather an event that offers a donation to the nonprofit organization. That's a big distinction.

We have a similar program in my area and they too designate a small amount of each dining experience to different charities - usually the foodbank. I've always taken the view that whatever is raised for the charity is great as long as they have advertised it correctly and not misconstrued the intent of the event. From what I saw, this is simply a celebration of restaurant week and were offering a nonprofit donation into the event.

It didn't seem from the articles that I've seen, that this was a fundraising benefit; otherwise I would have wondered about the low donation percentage too <G>.
