Well guys I am all set I'm leaving this Tuesday can't wait. I am going to the members meeting. My question is I have been reading so much about the wait time for a cab to the hotel. How long is it? I am hearing and reading at least a 45 min wait time. Is there another way besides the shuttle since I hear thats a long time to. Has anyone ever taken a private limo or something similar? I am in a rush to get to my hotel CP because I am entered for the summerfest slot tournament at Harrahs, I couldn't make it for another day. I am not sure what to do and what the fastest way to get to CP is. HELP :)

It all depends on the timing of other planes, sometimes you can walk out and be the first in the taxi line, other times you could be the 100th in line.

With the shuttle's you might not have to wait as long, but they can take a little longer than a taxi to get to CP, especially if they stop at 3 or 4 other hotels before CP. Then again CP might be the first stop.

Limo would be a fast and fun way, especially if you can find 2 or 3 other people going to CP to split the cost with. On one trip, I did this and think it was only about $15 or $20 for two of us (that was about 7 years ago).

You might even call and see if CP will pick you up, never know until you ask.

Good luck in the tourny.

I've been in some pretty long cab lines at McCarren, but they are well organized and move pretty fast since there is a constant stream of taxis coming and going.

The only time I thought I'd have a problem was in early June when the line near the Southwest baggage claim was really jammed up and out of control. Not sure what was going on.

I just went back into the terminal and backtracked through the baggage claim area to the other taxi line nearer the escalators. That one was moving fine and I was in a taxi in 5-10 minutes.

The ONLY time we took a cab, it was a Thursday night and we waited about 20 minutes in line. Too long for us old folks.

Call Caesars and tell them you want a limo and have it charged to your room. We have done this several times with HET properties and they are always on time and very pleasant. Charge is around $45 for one-way trip.

I don't know if you have left already but if you walk around to the international arrivals you should get a cab immediately. There has never been a queue there in the 7 years that I have been coming to Vegas - I've been out of McCarran and at my hotel within 20 minutes every time

If you haven't left for LV as yet, I highly recommend that you call your host at CP and request a limo meet you and take you to the hotel.

Nothing beats riding down the escalator to the baggage claim area and seeing a limo driver holding a card with your name on it !! He'll take your luggage and you won't be standing outside in the steamy heat waiting in line for a cab and you'll be dropped off right at the checkin at CP.

As was previously suggested, charge it to your room and it could be comped for you.

Good Luck !!

We have done the Limo thing a couple of times booking in advance from the UK - It's a great way to arrive. Relaxed and lots of fun.
But as duskette has said - getting a Taxi from the international arrivals is quick - certinly much quicker than getting a Taxi at the Tropicana or Wynn on our last trip!

Get a limo. Book it in advance, and it'll run about $80 round trip (plus tip) for a regular Lincoln. They'll stop any place you want, take any route you want, the meter is not running, and the air is always cold. Nothing like arriving in Las Vegas and having a dude with a funny hat holding a sign with your name on it . . .

Taxis are awesome.

And, if the line looks ENORMOUS - dont worry, that line moves (it really moves!!!!!!!!).

Take a Limo...its Vegas! Its only about $40-45 (w/ out tip)...so its not really that bad considering what it would cost you in a different city for a Limo.

Taxi line does move quick, so its not that bad an alternative.

Shuttle sucks because its packed with other people...after all, you did just get off a flying can packed with people, a little personal space goes a long way when your vacation is just starting (at lease for me).

Rental car pick-up at the airport isn't bad either. The daily rates I've notices seem to be a bit cheaper...but the taxes and fees are roughly a total of $15 more (over the entire rental), which ends up being the same cost as a cab to a hotel...

I found a hidden gem on my last trip of the 4th of July at the Wynn. There is a taxi drop off and valet at the Wynn off of Spring Mountain Road. While the taxi line at the main entrance can be up to an hour on weekends there were only 2 people in line at the Spring Mountain valet. The entrance/exit is close to the beginning of the retail area at the Wynn.

remember though, International flights arrive at Terminal 2. Not sure if the two terminals are connected and it is a short walk from T1 to T2. Coming from Canada on a Canadian airline, they fly into T2. The cab line there is so quick.

Go out the opposite side of the terminal from the taxis, at the same place you can get a limo, they also have town cars and suv's for about $10 -$20 less than a limo. Most times the chauffeur (bet I didn't spell that right) will give you his card and will arrange driving for you for a night on the town, sightseeing, or your return trip to the airport. My wife and I are going on the 15th, and I've already arranged to have my driver pick us up at the airport to transport us to The Golden Nugget. Cab fare is about $35 plus tip, and Bill from Bell Transportation in his spotless black Escalade is $45 plus tip. And it's pretty cool to have the guy waiting at the baggage pick-up with your name on a little sign! Makes other people think you're special....

Lordy, it's worth ten bucks not to get into another filthy taxi!

Good advice for FREE!

I'll stick to the cab ride regadless. Especially when I am going solo. I wouldn't get a driver unless there was 3 or more of us going. But that is just me. I don't take cabs all over Vegas when there. I usually only take one to a show or event. Other than that I take the shuttles, monorail, bus or walk. Saves me money to spend on gambling or eating etc.
I still remember staying downtown in January 2006, my first time to Vegas. I attended the AVN Expo at the Sands Expo Center. $20 cab ride there and $20 back both days, so $80 just for that. Then came hitting The Strip a couple of more times, $20 each way, so another $80. Altogether my buddy and I spent $200 on cab rides. That was way too much. Add in the cab rides to and from the airport.
That is when I stayed more on The Strip so the cab ride from the airport isn't as much.
I try to make my costs low for my trips now so I have more spending money. Last year in January I wanted to stay at the MGM, so I got it for $70 a night Thu, Sun, Mon, and $90 Fri and Sat. But at the end of it all with the taxes and airfare, well th cost was $900 approx for the 5 nights/return airfare. I sure wish I kept the IP for that trip. The cab ride mind you was nice and short and cheap. No limos for me unless there is a group of us, which will never happen.

We have always taken a cab from the airport to the hotel, except for the couple times when we booked a limo as a treat. Even on peak times and days we haven't waited that terribly long. It is very well organized and moves very, very fast.
