Next week we'll be going to Bellagio at the invitation of our new Host. I think it's customary to take the Host a gift, but I'm at a loss as to WHAT to take.

Any suggestions???? Our host is female.

Perhaps a gift certificate for Victoria's Secret might be nice. There are also many stores in the fashion Show mall where you can also get gift certificates.
Anything along those lines would be acceptable.

But I REALLY don't think a gift certificate to Victoria's Secret is appropriate. Speaking as a female, that seems a waaay too personal type of store to give to someone who is not a personal friend. Even though they sell all kinds of stuff, they are known for lingerie.

Any other type of store or Vegas restaurant would be fine. I've also heard that some folks give an American Express Gift Check, or bring something from your homestate area. EX: locally made chocolates, maple syrup, whatever is special in your area.

Ladies also like things like candles, poipourri, flower arrangements. Have sent all of these and they were always appreciated. Especially candles that have a unique fragrance that is not available just anywhere.

Hell, I thought it was a great idea . . . . Anyone, man or woman, can find something to entertain themselves or others at VS . . . . Since it's the holidays, bring the host a fruitcake. See how that works out for you next trip.

It was SO easy to gift our female casino host. Over the years we've given her "dressy" lapel pins for her suits, g/c to Amazon & LL Bean, Manneheim Steamroller gift basket, Harry & David gift basket, American Express Gift card and because she is really loves dogs we made a contribution to the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society in her name. These are just a few of the gifts we gave to her. She really worked for us and deserved these and more. We also wrote to her manager to express our thanks and appreciation for all she did to make our visit so good.

She has since left the company (so sad) and we now have a male host. We've gifted him with a Cross pen set on one occasion Amazon g/c on another. What really is upsetting is the fact that he never took the time to acknowledge through snail mail or e-mail the gifts but did mention in passing on our next visit that he often used his pen.

Love the ideas you all are sharing.

Hey Guys,

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a casino host? Is this some high-roller jibber jabber or something that even the low budget slobs like me encounter?

If this is someone you don't know however, a nice gift basket can go a long way. Variety is the key.

while some think gifts are de rigeur, they are not. casino hosts are among the most well-paid of casino staff because they bring in the business. when we were tourists, we did the gifting thing but found in the long run that doing so didn't get us any different treatment. what the host/hostess needs is a demonstration of your "loyalty" based on the level of play during your stay, whether it is comp or not.

enjoy. andrea from las vegas

This would be a great question to ask in the Members Need help Forum. I can't move a single message so maybe you can repost it in the proper Forum?
