Read the news about the Echelon in the Newsletter this week. Can't wait for this to open. It will be good that Boyd's is coming back to the strip to gives the Big 2 some competition.
Quick question: It says that there are 5 hotels connected to the property via the casino. I know Boyd's is running 2 of the hotels, but does anyone know if they have full control the the casino? Since the other 2 companies seems to be involved mainly in the hotel business, I was just wonder if they had an say in how the casino was run?
Not sure if this has been announced yet. Just something that popped in my head when reading the article.

I could have sworn in one of the articles I read that Boyd Gaming would control the casino operations. The investors going in with them look like they are just investing on the hotels.
Competition, yeah it depends what you are talking about. Though I wouldn't expect competitive room rates. Boyd's casino games will probably be slightly competitive for the Strip (particularly table games). I base that on good gaming offered by their A.C. Borgata property.
I like the interior design of the Echelon Place, I think it's awesome. They outdid themselves as it looks even better than the interior of the Borgata, and the Borgata is VERY nice. However, I thought the exterior design looks dull. The main hotel towers look like they're copying the shape of the Wynn LV hotel tower. I don't like copied ideas, thats just me. I wish if they would have tried to mimic something that it would have been something unique like their Borgata hotel tower. The other hotel towers are just boxes (zZzZzZz). The convention center... just a bigger box (zZzZzZz). All the character of the place looks like it went into interior design. However I thought it is very clever that casino is located underneath the pool deck area. From the rendering it looks like the casino is below ground level with the pool deck at ground level. Now that's different! Finally someone with an ingenious idea. I hope the Echelon exterior lights up a little better at night than it does in their computer renderings. In their computer renderings it looks dark.
Last but not least, I still think the title Echelon Place is boring and looks lame ontop a casino hotel tower. Too bad they couldn't have just kept the Stardust name.

That's one huge mountain of dust beside the pile of rubble isn't it? I have passed it each day this week (lovin' it that I'm here :p) and I am amazed that this dust is still here. You would think that they would have moved that by now. With these winds it can't be doing anyone any good.

Is that wind kicking up again? We were there in 2005 during the last week of June and it was horrible. Gusts up to 70 mph. We went to Hoover Dam and I was afraid to bend over and look - afraid I was get blown over the edge. And I'm not a small person; ask Greg, heh, heh.
