all said that it would be demolished.... who to believe??? that remains to be seen.

Just did a search and got these results:
One article states the sale was to a "Fortune 500" company and the other article states "undisclosed buyer." (I didn't want Eileen to the the buyer was me))

I'm gonna miss the HO. Great cheap beer, good limits on blackjack and craps, within walking distance of the usual LLV Hilton home base . . . . Might be my first stop next Friday (after the pool and the sports book)

Centex Corp. out of Dallas supposedly purchased the property. No doubt they have a website tho I didn't look it up... just read it on another board. I didn"t even know there was a new HO built. I will make one more stop before it goes in another week when i am out there. i have only stayed there once and checked out after one day as my room was practically on Industrial Drive and wasn't comfortable. They, at one time, had a free champagne happy hour.. that was nice.

Interestingly enough, two weeks ago I had made reservations for November 25 - 28 at Westward Ho and they said nothing about it closing on the 15th. Last week I got in on that Autumn Package at IP and cancelled the Ho reservations.

This from a cool web site called VegasTodayandTomorrow.com Frequently updated with information on developments. Also has an interesting section on developments that never got off the ground.
News 09/16/05: This is your last chance for a $30 room on the Strip. On November 17th the Westward Ho will close. The 'Ho' (as it is often called) is in process of being sold to the Centex Corp. Centex is a Dallas based homebuilder with it's sights set on high-rise condo development.
The 12.3 acre property (between the Stardust and Circus Circus) has a 420' frontage on the Strip and stretches to a 100' frontage on Industrial Road.
That's it for news on this. Stay tuned for the latest.

Sorry to see the Ho go. All these condos going in on the strip sure will change the feel of things. (not for the better in my opinion).

Condos do not a gambling strip make . . . . If I was Clark County (although the HO may still be in Vegas proper, I'm not sure - Steve?) I'd prohibit funkilling residential developments across from the Riviera and north of the Stardust . . . . Is Slots Of Fun still going to be around . . . . ?

Not a surprize to me that it's going stayed there many times years ago. Went out with older people in our group. They didn't want to stay in anything to high. I now wonder if that was the two stories above ground or the price of a room?

I think the Ho would be in the county. I believe Vegas, the city, starts at Sahara Ave and runs north.

I stayed at the Ho once, a number of years ago. The rooms were not much to speak of, but the people were so friendly. I remember that one evening they had a steak roast out in the parking lot for their guests.
Not a favored place, but I always stop by when in Vegas. It will be missed.
Yeah, we sure need more high rise condos on the strip. :(
