i would use the money to play in some of the World Seris of Poker events.
Not the main event . that is just a crap shoot.
I want to play the 6 handed No limit Holdem tournament. The buy in is 2500.00 and i would live the vegas high life with the other half.

:D I would just for one night like to stay in a room at The Bellagio, eat an expensive dinner and see a great show. We are always looking for the 'best deal' on rooms in Vegas and I have always wanted to stay at The Bellagio, but would never spend that much on a room if it is my money. Also I would like to eat at one of the best Italian places in town and then go see a show. I would love to see Elton John. My hubby just won't splurge on those kinds of things. Then I would love to sit at a blackjack table and bet $100 per hand. Never in my wildest dreams could I afford to do this in real life.

I'd go to some of the more pricy shows I haven't seen, dine at some of the better restaurants and do some shopping at a few of the unique shops in town.

Five grand.....hmmmmmm. Well, a hunk of the money would go for 2 round trip tickets to Las Vegas. Instead of taking the comped room at the Flamingo, I'd spring for the $89.00 offer for a room at Caesars Palace (still a decent deal). Instead of sticking with the $1 machines, I'd try the $5 machines in the High Roller areas. A couple of more shows. Maybe try a couple of "nicer" resturants instead of sticking with the coffee shops/ buffets. I don't really think I'd change my routine, I'd just "upgrade" a bit. :p

I would love to play a $100 slot machine in the High Limit Lounge at either The Bellagio, Caesar's Palace or Wynn. I would put $3000 through the machines and then head to High Roller Lounge to play Pai Gow for $250 a hand.

A couple of good first class shows - a couple of cheap afternoon shows - like Mac King (he is always fun). Then a couple of meals at some real nice restaurants. I would still stay at the Orleans - you can't beat the hospitality and fun at any price. A nice piece of jewlery for the wife (no more than $500) and then the rest on Blackjack, Slots, and Video Poker........:)

It really would not change much - maybe up grade to??

But we do just about what ever makes us happy now!

Not really interested in the high priced phony places, been there done that!

I would still stay at the best price hotel that we normally do...Flamingo, Bally's etc., but it would be great to just go and put money in all the slot machines you wanted to try.:)

Suzy would buy 1 Chanel purse in the approximate range. How did I get her started on buying Chanel purses!

I would buy plane fare to Maui and stay at the Grand Wailea. Oh wait, that isn't Las Vegas. OK ... with a connecting flight in Las Vegas and drop a few coins in the machines at the Airport.

Actually, I'd like to play any game in the roped off section for the high rollers. I don't think my $5K will last very long there, but just 1 time ....

I would find four single mothers who are trying to get their lives back on track with going through the programs that are available to them and help them buy clothing for a job and new outfits for their children. Then lunch at a very nice restaurant for all the four single mothers and their children.

Prada! Last time we were in Vegas I saw a Prada bag in the store window and I fell in love with it. Having no idea what designer handbags cost we went in and asked. Wow! My husband told me that he would buy it for me if he won something big. He didn't......win big, that is. Needless to say, I didn't get the bag. Besides that, I think we would be a lot freer with our slot money - maybe play dollars or even 5 dollars instead of nickels and quarters.

First, we'd stay at our favorite spot...THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. We always stay there. Have a ton of room service....eat at the best restaurants...have fun....AND go home with money.

This is easy! I'd treat my friends staying at Bellagio & Caesars Palace. Plus upscale dinning. Plus Barry & Celine. If any $$ was left, I'd go shopping. Wouldn't take long to spend. See ya in Vegas----first week in June!!! VIVA

Gee, considering I just got back from vegas & lost $6000. I'd go back & try to recoup my losings. Plus, I'd get a nice suite for bf & I to stay in. Then just once I'd like to put $1000 in the high limit slots & $1000 playing blackjack. If I won so be it if not then I'll return the following month to make our monthly payment.

with $5000 to spend , I would give it all to Steve Wynn. A suite at the Wynn, dinner at Alex, shopping at Gucci and then breakfast at the Country Club. If anything is left I would put it in the slots. That would probably give me one night.

I'd bring a few of my best friends, get a suite big enough for all of us, stay long enough to dine at all the restaurants I have always wanted to go to on one trip. Usually I go for only four days at a time and have to decide where to go and what to leave out for the next time. My friends and I would travel by stretch limo and not walk or take taxis like I usually do. I wouldn't change my betting habits any though, I'd still play the minimum bets at blackjack, just maybe play longer. I'm not into shopping, but it would be nice to know I could if I wanted to.

first I'd take 2 weeks off from work. that will take a big chunk out of the 5K right there!
Next, off to the Good Feet store on Sahara, to get a pair of arch supports and insoles for my shoes. I'd plan to walk from one end of the strip to the other, then take a limo back to my room at Mandalay Bay. I would then indulge in the spa and wave pool there. If you haven't experienced this place, and can afford to do so, I highly recommend it. Hot and cold whirlpools, saunas, and endless fruit and nuts in the "treatment" waiting lounge. Best massage I've ever had! I was in Heaven!
I'd also fly my parents, and brother and sister to Vegas to enjoy the fun. If Steve and Eilene could tolerate Jet Blue, I'd fly them out too! They've been good to me.
I'd be sure to take in every Cirque show, including the ones I've already seen. I wouldn't mind seeing "O" for a third time. I'd get the $375 stage seats for my Mom and I to see Barry Manilow, and send Dad out gambling at the Hilton.
Lastly, one huge last night party in my Mandalay Bay suite. Complete with entertainment: Earl Turner, or Jimmy Hopper, if either are available. Maybe even the Scintas, since most of my guests either want to see them, or already love them.
OOOPS! I just realized, this plan may not work. I've already spent about $50,000!

I would take a few friends from the UK to Vegas that can't afford it just so they can see why I love it and it would shut me up trying to explain it. On second thoughts as flights cost about $800 minimum perhaps it would just have to be two with a bit of spending money!

I would go shopping and just spend, spend, spend!!! Oh wait... I do that anyway don't I? :o okay... I would spend, spend, spend in Gucci, Prada, etc and instead of coming back with one small item from those shops I would come back with a big 'un! :p

What a great imagination. I would go and see every night a different show, go shopping of course (at Fashion Show or Gondola Shops) and would effort a suite either at Bellagio or MGM (at least the High Roller Suite).
It is a good question, because we all like to dream about Vegas things.

My initial reaction was suites, dinners, shows and champagne - all of which is still very appealing, but if I had $5000 to spend in Las Vegas I would bring family & friends - maybe 10 or 12 people and get nice rooms where ever we find decent quality and low rates.

We could all play for a bit, see the sights, have lots of "me" time and a wonderful farewell dinner at one of the top restaurants. Okay, that might take more than 5 grand so maybe I choose 3 or 4 people to take so we can play longer.

I also really like the idea of giving to charity like Leigh. Wow, who'd a thunk spending $5000 would be so difficult?

05-09-2007, 05:52 AM
First, I'd have to buy the gang a set of nicer clothes than we usually bring - then it's dinner at a few steakhouses. Can't beat good food for my money!

Ahhhh...I'd probably squirrel away half of it though...

I would use $1000 for a fantasy suite at the Palms. Id use a couple of grand to play progressive slots and higher limit black jack. The rest would be spent on a night on the town at a fancy club ( something I have never done) limos, etc.

$5000 TO SPEND IN VEGAS...WOW WHAT FUN I COULD HAVE. FIRST I WOULD PLAN A COUPLE MORE TRIPS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND BUY AIR FARE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE THAT WOULD COST ABOUT $700...I WOULD PROBABLY STILL STAY AT THE STRATOSPHERE (NICE AND FRIENDLY) OR MAYBE I WOULD TRY THE RIO (ESPECIALLY SINCE TAXI'S WOULD BE NO PROBLEM).

A COUPLE OF NICE RELAXING MASSAGES AFTER HOURS AT THE SLOT MACHINES WOULD BE NICE!

I LOVE TO GO TO THE SHOWS SO I WOULD UPGRADE A BIT AND SEE A FEW OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE ONES. I LOVE TO PLAY BINGO AT THE PLAZA AND I WOULD ALSO TRY MY LUCK AT GOLD COAST AND THE SOUTH COAST. AND SINCE MONEY WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY MUCH LONGER.

I WOULD SHOP AT THE PASSAGE, CAESAR'S AND MAYBE EVEN A TRIP TO THE OUTLET MALL AND SHIP ALL PURCHASES HOME (DON'T WANT TO BOTHER WITH TAKING THEM ON THE PLANE) AND THEN OF COURSE I WOULD LOVE TO TRY SOME OF THE NICER RESTAURANTS. (I LOVE STEAK)

HEY, MAYBE I COULD REALLY TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT (no coupons) LOL!
JUST LET ME KNOW WHEN MY $5000 IS ARRIVING AND I WILL GET RIGHT TO WORK ON IT!;)

Cheating a bit here and not counting the airfare from the UK.

I'd get a spa suite for three nights at Mandalay Bay ($180/night midweek when there aren't any big events on), and wander straight over to MGM Grand after a float in the tub, where I'd have the tasting menu at Joel Robuchon (about $800 with wine and tip for me and Dr Weasel). Back to MB for drinks at Mix ($50), then bed...possibly preceeded by another float in the tub.

Breakfast, after floating some more in that tub, at the Stage Deli ($20 for the pair of us), which places us helpfully at the Forum Shops so I can buy a new handbag at Etro ($800) and some shoes at Tods ($200). Lunch at Chinois (just the salad shared between two, because I'm planning supper already - about $30 with drinks/tip). To the Guerlain concession in Bellagio, where I'll pick up one of the limited edition perfumes ($200), then Black House White Market at the Desert Passage for a new dress ($120) for dinner at Picasso. ($400 with tip - we actually did this in February, and it was fantastic). Waddle back to float in the tub some more.

Breakfast after more floating the next morning at the Bellagio buffet ($40 with tip - deeply pathetic, going to a buffet with nearly $2000 still in my pocket, but their congee is fabulous, and I'm perfectly happy to just sit there and fork about five bowls of it down with some coffee). A spot of gambling in the morning over at Aladdin (I hope now it's Planet Hollywood that the slots are still as kind to me as they usually are), then Petrossian for lunch - I love caviar, and Red Square's not open for lunch. Let's call that $100 because my husband will almost certainly only eat a sandwich. Dessert at Jean Michel Patisserie, about $20. Afternoon up the Stratosphere at the viewing platform taking pictures ($20)...and possibly a go on the Big Shot, although I felt so ill after going on the other two rides last time I might give that a miss! Supper of kobe beef, foie gras and other expensive things that will clog my arteries at Stripsteak - this is a fantasy Stripsteak meal, so let's have the Japanese kobe...about $500. Two good seats for Love will be $300, and then a few hours in Revolution will soak up another $100 or so. More soaking in the tub.

A swift breakfast and $500 on a Grand Canyon flight/lunch/walk on the glass thingbob for us both soaks up almost all the rest of the money.

I'm a little fluttery at the thought of spending all that money at once...it *would* be fantastic, though.

I am going to stick with sending the money and not gambling. So lets start with renting a Ferrari for the day. After tooling around for 5-6 hours I figure that it will run about $1300.00 + $200.00 for the speeding tickets that I would get. Then off to Joël Robuchon for dinner with wine pairing $1000.00 for 2 people. lastly off to Channel or Prada for a treat for my honey. Poof $5000.00 gone. I would like try this same thing with 100k or more, Vegas is a great town to spend big. 1 Million + would be easy (and fun) to spend in one day.

$5000 isn't very much, but here goes.
1 - upgrade hotel and room
2 - limo and driver for sightseeing
3 - spa day
4 - see more of the expensive shows
5 - do some fine dining
6 - if I still have money left, buy myself a nice piece of emerald jewelry

I would send my son and his wife to vegas. They love vegas and have no cash since they have 2 terrific sons. One is 2 1/2 and oither is 7 months. I would stay home and watch to boys for a week while they where gone. They both really need a vacation!!! And then when they got back I would need a vacation so I would spend the other rest of the money for a week in vegas for me and the hubby. Do you think I could strech 5000.00 out that far. I sure would try lol maybe 4 days each. Either way woohoo would be a great time for all of my family.:D :D :) :o

We would probably stay at the Venetian, since we've already done the Bellagio a couple of times. Our dinners would be at some very nice restaurants but only the ones that serve real food---not the foo-foo stuff like a 4 oz. steak on top of a pile of yellow, green and red things for $125 a plate:confused: ! And I'm sure we would try to take the helicoptor trip to the Grand Canyon and see some of the shows we've missed. Add to that an increase in our gambling bankroll and goodbye $5,000:D .

;) This is an interesting problem....

I think that first I would find the best jacuzzi to relax in!
I would go off strip to casinos that do not offer a free shuttle service, in a limo no less! A nice big relaxing limo..... To whatever casino was having a concert that I wanted to go see and would not have been going to normally due to the lack of free shuttle.
Food? Nah.....not big on fancy meals.
I would however buy whatever I felt like having.... Maybe some of the better made cowboy boots or a new ring or two....;) Something definately not normally done by me.....lol
And yes........I would be hitting the casinos to drop a bit of it into the machines.....
I am sure that I could blow away $5000 pretty quickly in Vegas on my vacation!:D

I work with low income elderly folks. There are two ladies I know who live to hear about my trips to Vegas. One has never been there and the other was there 30 years ago. I have a fantasy of taking them to Vegas and while I wouldn't use the money for the fanciest of everything I would love to give them a week with a little of everything Vegas has to offer. A suite, a good show, a good meal or two and a couple hundred a day for gambling each. I love to take newbies to Vegas and for these two it would be a trip of a lifetime!

I would take a couple friends with me to Vegas as a gift. I usually stay at Bellagio, but I would get a room at either Mirage, MGM, TI, etc. to stretch the $5,000 a little more. The money would go toward airfare, hotel room, meals, drinks and cabs & tips. Any monies left over after that would be for gambling!!!!! That would be a fun trip!

The first $1000 goes to the Shade Tree foundation
The second $1000 goes to the Natural History Museum
The rest would be spent on dining at the Bellagio, gambling at the Imperial Palace and shows like Spamalot, Phantom of the Opera, Jubilee and Celine Dion.

If there's any left, I'll stay another day or two.

Probably things that i cannot normally afford (etc).

I would ride in a limo over to Fashion Show Mall.
(never been in a limo to this date! )

Lunch at Maggiano's (in my book, it's OUTSTANDING). Buy some clothes there in the mall. Back in the limo. Tell the driver to secure me a bottle of rum (the good stuff, $200/bottle). Then, i'd prolly wish the limo had a blender. Hmmm.

See Celine.
See O.

Gamble heavily at the dice tables at places i usually play at. If i brought $2000 into bellagio or wynn - it'd be no big deal to them. But, if i went to the Orleans or the GC, they remember me there & it'd be cool!!! Off-strip is where i play most of the time.

I'd end the night with the last $11 in my pocket over at Ellis Island. I'd splurge ... and

...and...
order a steak!!

Well let see now I would definitely buy some of Harrah's stock before it goes up some more. Than since I am comped a lot of Harrah's I would love to try the Venetian for night or MGM for a night. I would very much want to try the $100 machines including Video Poker either at Caesars or Harrah's. Than I would love to try the Sterling Brunch at Bally's to top it off!! Anyone got $5,000!! :)

Great question! I would have to book a few nights at the Bellagio - upgrade to the Bellagio Suite. That, I'm sure would use up about $2000 of that generous gift. I'd use another grand at the spa with the best treatments free money can buy. The rest I'd use towards shows, gambling and food - in that order.

Oh, how the mind plays out this idea.

Here's the dream:
I would select a property, a resort. For example, let's say New York New York. I would use the $5 Grand to TOTALLY experience the entire place. A week's accomodations in a fancy-schmancy room, the kind with the hot tub and a great view. I would eat a meal and/or have a drink in every venue in the place. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks. I'd try the spa, the barber shop, the pool, all of it. From the big expensive steak to the cheap ice cream and pizza.
Anything left would go toward getting something to happen. You all know the "what happens in Vegas" yammer. Well what Happens in Vegas, Never Happens To Me. That doesn't mean I don't always have a GREAT time. It just means that none of the parts I remember are worth not talking about, if you know what I mean.

I would really like to try this "experience" idea at every large resort in Nevada. I think it would make a great show on The Travel Channel, following me around as I see all of it all. Of course, a mere $5,000 won't do it. What I would want would be more like 5 Million. But if I ever did get the right 6 numbers, thats about how it would go.

I fold.

I would take husband, Sis and BIL stay at CP (casino rate of course) get cabanas everyday at the pool and eat in some more expensive places, the rest I would gamble with, probably play some more craps than usual, any winnings would be for shopping in the Forum Shops for me and sis.

I would fly my wife and I to Vegas for an October weekend for 3 nights at the Bellogio. I would give her $1000 for shopping, keep $1000 out for food and a couple of shows and spend the rest of my time in the sportsbook betting college and pro football games. To me this would be an ultimate fall weekend in Vegas.

If I had an extra $5,000 I would go see the Celine Deon show at Ceasars, have an expensive dinner at a great restauraut, and then hit the high limit rooms at different casinos.

I would stay at the Bellagio for 3 nights in a suite with a lake view and 3 night in a Prima suite at the Venetian. My brother stayed there for a week in May and it was $480/night, too rich for my blood as I'd rather have the money to spend on shows and dining.

I would dine at some of the high end restaurants that I haven't even memorised as they are out of my league. Have a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon. Play maximum bet on the penny slots or perhaps even move up to quarters!
