This week's Topic Of The Week question is:

What are some of the favorite drinks that you order in Las Vegas. I know a few but would like to try others that I did not know about.

Also, do you have a "personal" drink that you yourself have concocted that you would like to share with the group?

'Ass Juice' from the Double Down Saloon. :D
Really.

The drinks there are inexpensive and not watered down at all. Great!

A bar tender introduced us to a new drink called the Blondie.

1 oz. Amaretto

1 oz. Vanilla Vodka

3 oz. pinapple joice

Serve in a martini glass with the rim covered in bar sugar.

I can't recall the name, there's a drink at kahunavile? Whatever its called, downstairs at the TI. I came "steaming" with dry ice. Best mixed drink I ever had. It was about 15 bucks but large and tasty. Good times

Steve

I drink only Iced Tea and Diet soda.

I was banned from drinking due to an episode at Embers Steakhouse when I had 4 glasses of wine and started making comments about Hiroshima to a table of Asian people seated nearby :o

Not one of my Las Vegas highlights.

I have a daily routine that I stick to in most cases while in Las Vegas:o .

Lots of water to keep hydrated.
Tequila Sunrises until lunch time.
Beer (preferably Beck's or Heineken) until dinner.
Wine (a glass or two) with dinner.
Gin and Tonic until late evening.
Bailly's on the rocks before going up to the room for the night.
Yes I do hand out a lot in tips to the cocktail waitresses but that's part of the trip budget;) .

Once in a while I'll have a frozen drink while at the pool in the afternoon.

At home I have one glass of red wine with dinner and a few beers a week; quite a difference from Las Vegas. As you can see I stick with public transportation while there and have only rented a car for one day in all the years we've been going. I was pretty much of a tee-totaler that day. My wife Cheryl has her own drink thing going but it varies much more than mine. Since she's a blonde I'll have to get her to try that Blondie drink recipe that was posted:cool: .

Forgot about mudslides, I love those.

I also like strawberry pina colladas made with vanilla ice cream and real whipped cream. No calories there right:)

Margaritas, an all time favorite.

Kalula and cream. Settles a stomach. Really it does.

So many to choose from! I want a Mudslide after seeing the pic :D I usually stick with rum and coke but in the wee hours of the morning, Kahlua and cream or Baileys and coffee with whipped cream of course! I love the Aladdin champagne brunch with lots and lots of champagne with the meal. After walking.....nothing beats an ice-cold beer.

My mouth overloaded my brain every time I opened it.

Now it's coffee and soda pop for me. I like Columbian blend coffee and RC cola when I can find it.

If I'm in a bind , Folgers coffee works and just about any cola type soda pop will fill the bill.

My favorite drink is the one being bought for me...

I invented a drink and called it the Mandalay Bay Morning.

3 ounces Pineapple juice

2 ounces Cranberry juice

2 ounces Vodka

Pineapple juice goes in the glass first. Shake cranberry juice and vodka on ice. Pour slowly into the pineapple juice. Should make a lava lamp like effect. Drink in one sip. It's a good way to wake up.

I loving sipping on a Miami Vice at the pool or when playing blackjack. It is a combo of frozen pina colada and strawberry dacquiri.

Pina coladas and martinis (rasberry, chocolate, lemon drop) I am going to try a cucumber martini this trip.
It's mostly beer though and maybe a glass of wine with dinner.

I do not drink, so I stick to water, cola, and ice tea. However, on occasion I will have a bloody marry, before going up to the room for the night after I am done gambling.

Love that Witchdoctor at the Rio.....in the Voodoo Lounge.....one powerful drink. Love the Margaritas at Ricardos, seems like they have more flavors than crayola has colors. Question? Whats in that drink called ASS JUICE? I'd have a hard time asking for that one.....LMAO

I like Cherry Coke for breakfast, Cherry Coke for lunch, Cherry coke for dinner, Cherry Coke in the casino, Cherry Coke poolside, Cherry coke while sightseeing, Cherry coke while shopping and occasionally a bottled water or a cup of coffee when its cold.

My wife likes Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina Colada. The most unusual drink I ever saw was at Tequila Joe's at the IP. Jenny had ordered a Pina Colada and a friend of ours saw it and asked the waitress what was in it. After being told what was in it, she said she'd just have a margarita instead. The waitress misunderstood and when she came back, she brought a margarita back but it had a cherry and whipped cream!! It looked terrible. We nicknamed it the Pina Margarita!

oh and bourbon..knob creek or better if they have it..havent gone in pursuit in LV for better yet...and OTR with a twist..or in a Manhattan...

pre-dinner..Martini's at the VP bars..Ventian sports book makes a quality one..or the little bar across the hall from fontana at bellagio...both have good Gin choices..other choice is a Negroni, or a Vesper, if they have lillet and know how to make it...

wine with dinner...

Single malt scotch after dinner...

you opened up a can of worms with me and this question...but aint this what vegas is all about...???

Hey Steve,
I am a dry alcoholic, however I did have a "virgin" drink at Quarks the last time I was there, and was it delic....it had dry ice in it, and was called a Warp Core Breach. We are going the first week of June, and I can't wait to have that again.

Tootsie Roll - there are many ways to make it. My favorite way is Amaretto, Creme de Cacao, and Orange Juice. The easy way to order it though is Kahlua and Orange Juice. Looks kind of disgusting, like a mud puddle. But when it's made right, tastes just like the candy.

Baileys is good.

If I'm in a restaurant and want a blender drink, then it's either a Raspberry or Strawberry Daiquiri.

When all else fails, my standby is a Screwdriver.

Gonna have to try Kahlua and Cream some time.

Never heard of a Greyhound, at least not the DRINK. What's in that?

P.S. I have to say I'm really proud of the guys who can admit they can't hold their liquor, and so they quit drinking. It's tough in this society to admit that. Heaven knows I've had enough alcoholics in my life. They're either dead, could be dead, or you wish they were. I never want to lose control and always hope I have enough sense to know when I've had enough. So far so good, I'm going on 48 and have never been drunk in my life. Unfortunately, the downside of that is, the stuff I've said that I probably shouldn't have, have been made while I was sober. LOL :o

"What the Witchdoctor Ordered" at the Voodoo Lounge, at the top of the Rio hotel. It costs $26, but it's big enough for 4 people, and it comes out smoldering (dry ice) with 4 very long straws.

I also like anything made with Hypnotiq, except for the Incredible Hulk. That drink is hypnotic that turns green when you add Hennessey. I discovered while drinking that drink, that I do not like Hennessey!

Long Island iced teas are my favorite when getting "free" drinks at the slot machine. It has the biggest bang for my tip buck. They're served in tiny glasses, but they're oh so good. Believe it or not, the long island's in Vegas are better than the ones in Long Island!

On a hot day (ok that's most of the days in NV, I'm form MI) I like Skye Vodka and cranberry (somtimes with a splash of OJ) or coconut rum and cranberry (most people drink coconut rum with pineapple to make it taste like a pina colda ... too sweet)

Early evening before dinner it's a Bombay Shaphire Martini on the rocks, dirty (add a little olive juice), with and extra olive.

By the pool it's usually a margarita.

With dinner an appropriate wine, for whites I like lighter like a sauvignon blanc and for reds a pinot noir.

Just hanging out it's Miller Lite.

OK so I have different tastes for different events, I'm really not that big of a drinker.... no really:cool:

Someone mentioned sex on the beach. I like that one too.
I'm still trying to find out hat was in a drink that knocked me out one night. It started with sloe gin, southern comfort, and orange juice. But then somebody bribed the bartender to get him to add 2 or 3 more items, to make it "Up against a wall, Mexican style." My guess was that there was tequila added, but I never figured out what the other item(s) was(were). All I remembered was passing out, after just one, and waking up the next morning with a massive headache. But it tasted really, really good!

In the morning, after coffee of course, it's the breakfast of champions--bloody mary. I'm also partial to a cape cod. Just trying to get some vitamin C.

Afternoons and evenings, I usually stick with an Absolute martini (very dry, straight up, 3 olives) or a Dewar's and water.

If I'm at Quark's, it's a Warpcore Breach or a Borg Sphere (melon flavored).

Pateboo, a greyhound is grapefruit juice and vodka.

Good question, Steve!

Pateboo: Make those Greyhounds with Absolute Vodka. Forgot about the Grey Goose Gimlets...yummy, in a martini glass with ice and fresh lime, at the Partytime Bar in Harrah's.

I think you were drinking a slow comfortable screw up against the wall (never heard of Mexican style). Essentially, you got everything right except you missed the vodka (vodka + orange = screwdriver). If it was up against a wall, there was some galliano in it as well. I'm guessing you're right about the tequila. If it was a slow comfortable screw up against the wall at sunrise, it would have had tequila and grenadine in it.

Indeed, when I turned 21, my friend and I decided to mix up a batch of these bad boys. We each drank one in a highball glass. We were sitting down. After that, standing up was not an option. Haven't done it since.

I stick with my Smirinoff Ice. Although in the USA it is a malt beverage where as here in Canada it is a vodka cooler. The taste is no different I found compared to other coolers like Mike's Hard Lemonade I had in Florida where it tasted awful as a malt beverage.
I like grabbing two at the store and just walking The Strip drinking them. At Coyote Ugly I always get two at a time, saves going back to the bar so often.
I get comments from friends all the time "You drink those bitch drinks" I say alcohol is alcohol who cares.

Ahhhhh, the Roman Orgy at Caesars Palace in the Garden of the Gods pool bar. There's nothing better than that drink on a sizzling, hot summer day by the pool in Vegas. Fruit juice with several different alcohols in it is what I remember! :) It's not too sweet and fufu either so you can drink several of them. Even my boyfriend loved them...or maybe that was because he seemed to use it as an excuse to go the restroom and walk by the topless pool. Expensive at about $12 or so but worth it. Wish I had the recipe for at home.

Every time I play slots at Bellagio, I ask the server for a "STRAWBERRY Bellini",

And EVERY time, (this has been about 100 requests since they opened) the cocktail waitress tells me that they don't have those!

I asked a server on my first visit there, if she could get me one of their famous Bellinis, but have strawberry puree substituted for the usual peach ingredients. She said she would try; the bartender co-operated, and my first ever Strawberry Bellini led to it being my favorite drink.....and yes, she got an extra nice tip!

So, now each time that I ask for my drink choice, they tell me that they do not make those, I persist, and explain, they say they will check, and then they bring my Strawberry Bellini. I always chuckle to myself and picture the bartender  saying, "Oh she's back." :D

So come one, come all; order Strawberry Bellinis at Bellagio. Make my job in October easier!

A drink server introduced me to a great morning cup of coffee called the "Nutty Irishman".
It is coffee, Baileys Irish Cream, & Frangelico with whip cream on top. I've also had them make it with Kaluha instead of the irish cream. Was good also.

During the day, we drink C.C. and diet. That's Canadian Club whiskey, and diet coke. No hangover with that drink!!
Once sitting at the bar in the Flamingo, the bartender made me a huge drink called "Rum Punch". She served it in this huge round glass that looks like a cereal bowl!! It was very sweet and Hawiaan-punchy like, but a great experience and memory for us.

DH likes to occassionally have a vodka martini while in Vegas..extra olives! LOL
Last year, my fav drink was the "Ameretto sours" YUM!!!
We used to do the sweet drinks like the mud slides and strawberry daiquiries, but found they made us feel sicky in the heat and then the hangovers were just as bad. So now, we try to stay away from anything with alot of sugar in it.

White Russians. My buddy and I sat at a Black Jack table at 1:00 in the morning and I started drinking White Russians. At 7:00 in the morning, the cocktail waitress said to me "Sir we are out of Kahlua" I had to switch to Coconut Rum and coke. I was bummed!

My usual drink no matter where I go, morning, noon, and night is Absolute Citron and 7-up. :D

If I'm at the pool or walking the strip (downtown too), I sometimes get a strawberry daiguiri, but otherwise I only drink vodka and 7-up.

My hubby might have a beer now and then, but he loves Beefeaters Gin Martini's with 4 olives! And don't forget his 4 olives....!!!!!!!

In the morning it is coffee with Bailey's. Then lots of water. If I am around the pool it is blended margaritas, especially at the Golden Nugget pool! If we are walking around and gambling in the afternoon here and there it is Corona'a. Later in the evening it is gin and tonics. But in between lots and lots of water. Then when we get home - no alcohol for at least two weeks. Need to recoup. We drink enough in 5 days in Vegas to last us months, but boy do we have fun!

My morning drink is cappuccino, but only at the Palace casino at Caesars - it's "real" cappuccino there....if I order it at the Forum casino at Caesars, I wind up with that stuff that's a sweetened mocha thing like a fast food place. I primarily drink water or club soda with lemon while I'm playing VP, in the afternoon or evening, I like a lemon drop at the Diamond Lounge - much better than the ones on the casino floor.

I always say I'm going to try something different in Vegas, but I usually stick to Bloody Mary's, Margarita's or Beer with olives. Next time I really want to try some of the ones mentioned here.

Years ago I drank a "comfortable slow screw up against the wall" and back then it was southern comfort, slow gin, vodka, orange juice and galiano. Don't remember any tequilla being in it, maybe that's the mexican twist part?

Long island ice teas at the Carnival Court @ Harrah's - Adam makes the BEST - he calls them trouble for a reason!

:D

Oh yeah haha! Harrah's Carnival Court! The drink is extra good since you get entertained while it's served. Just make sure you tip him good because that takes real talent to do juggling and balancing acts lol. Get a mixed drink and the flair bartenders will balance bottles on their heads and arms, toss ice around and catch it in a class they are holding behind their back, etc. I always go there atleast once. Harrah's Carnival Court has the best flair bartenders in Vegas and some of the most popular and best flair bartenders in the USA.

Smeone asked about what's in a mudslide - I think its vodka, bailey's irish creme, kahlua and maybe milk .

I like em! I also like Colorado bulldog (white russian with a splash of coke) and amaretto sours.

For non sweet I go for a dirty martini or a good old tangueray gimlet.

I think your right on the ingredients on the Mudslide, except for most places make it with vanilla ice cream rather than milk. Smaller places that don't have ice cream on hand or don't make ice cream drinks likely would substitute milk instead;) Those are VERY Yummy!!

I don't drink at home..only at ballgames and casinos. In Vegas, since I tend to get up early I start with coffee. Then Coffee and Baily's, Then Coffee with Baily's and Bushmill's. After that I switch to Grey Goose and cranberry for the rest of the day. I do really enjoy the "Incommunicado" at Margaritaville. It contains:Tequlla, Rum, Triple Sec, Vodka, Gin, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, sour mix and grenadine. Three of those with lunch gets the afternoon off to a roaring start.

Maybe I missed it but what is a mudslide?
Might try it, going in June

kestral & kimimurad are correct, vodka, bailey's irish creme, kahlua and milk/ice cream if avail.
It has a chocolate taste to it. Give it a try, I guarantee you will like it.

And fyi - you can buy a bottle premixed in any liquor dept. Just add ice and blend. :D Mmmmmmm :D

Long Island Ice Tea>>>>>

I thought it was pretty funny, after being "comped" Long Island Ice Teas everyplace we went last week, that the bartender at the Frontier (of all places) told my brother that he'd have to charge him $11 for one while we were playing video poker at the bar. (He settled for a free tap beer instead.)

The drink you started with was a Sloe Comfortable Screw, the up against wall means they added Guilano, the mexican is new to me, but you are probably right it had tequila in it from the sounds of it.

I am not a drinker so I stick to the soft stuff. but my 2 favs are Virgin mary's (any Bellagio and the pool bar at the Monte Carlo are the best) and Club soda and Cranberry juice with a slice of lime

Just got back from Vegas on the 10th after 5 days and can't wait to go back.

I don't believe anybody has mentioned my fave -- Red Bull & vodka (RB&V) :D I like the taste of Red Bull, not too sweet but not too sour, and it does give you a lot of energy since I have trouble staying awake later in Vegas sometimes.

However, can't overdo, or you will never fall asleep! One evening I was walking back to hotel after an early morning breakfast and I thought "never noticed how pretty blue the sky is at night" -- well, it was like 5:00 am and I didn't realize it, LOL! :o

A very interesting topic. I read all of the replies until now and must admit, that I got some good inspriation for drinks.

I like Wine Spritzer very much, it is white wine with soda water. It is refreshing and you get also some water, not just alcohol. I also like White Russian and
I love the Corona beer with lime. I prefer cocktails with not so hard alcohol in them, because I wanna drink different things in one night and wanna stay longer awake. For that, Red Bull is very good. And donīt forget water, water, water between your alcoholic beverages. IMHO it is very, very important, also to stay fit the next day.

Non-alcoholic I love the Vanilla Coke (I have a sweet tooth), finally it is available here in Germany and I stock on it.

My favorite drinks are
Lemon Drops at the Bellagio Fontana Bar, they also make a great Cosmo.
Cello Fizz at the Bellagio Pool
A vodka collins with a slight variation is another favorite, I like it with orange vodka and a splash of sprite with an orange wedge.
Grey Goose and Tonic, or Kettle and Tonic, or Belvedere and Tonic.......you get the picture.
Grey Goose and Cranberry in the morning (see above for other vodka choices)
The Pineapple Mojito at Wynn is awesome.
For Beer, Fat Tire sometimes or Pyramid Hefenweizen if availabe.
Sunsplash at Bellagio in the morning is good as is their Bella Peach.
I look at the drink menus when I am at the VP Bar and order accordingly depending on the time of day.

We stop and pick up Stratosphere funbooks which include 2 for 1 Martini coupons and then head up to try different tastes as the sun sets. Be careful and only have one or two martinis though or you might forget how the rest of the evening went.

That is what you end up having the next morning after a day and/or night of drinking and partying...:D
When in Vegas it is a day and night of drinking for me, all spaced out mind you, until I hit the bar at night.
I'll be there in June as well 10th-15th
