Headed over to the GC tonite to see their performance. I think they're in town for 4 shows? Anyhow, this was the 2nd nite.
Showtime was @ 7:30.. and i arrived at about 6:45 & picked up a comp ticket.
I've never been in the GC Theater... and, i've got to tell you, it's a pretty cozy little room. The arrangement was a bunch of little round cocktail tables scattered about with 2 or 4 chairs around each one. And, each table had a tiny placard with a # atop. Headed thru the entrance & an usher said "table xx... to your right & against a railing". Sat down with about 11 minutes til showtime.
Show started only 3 minutes late .. so, in my book, that's ON TIME by L.V. standards, lol.
The crowd was 90% folks in their 50's and up. Myself (in mid 30's) was definately the YOUTH of the crowd!!! :D There was one couple, however, which was probably in their 20's.
Well, they did their schtick (some song & dance, and plenty of comedy). Marty was a hoot. Last time i seen him - it was on Hollywood Squares & i was a youngster planted in front of the family television. He's getting on in years, but managed to pull off some rally funny jokes.
Karon provided nearly all of the singing of course & her voice is pretty good. Not outstanding - but you can do a LOT WORSE in the way of vocals these days. The show was 100% clean - no profanity of any sort. Marty & Karon seemed to be in a pretty patriotic mood as they made mention of the usa & troops & such. Saying how she & Marty are blessed to be in such a great country.
Show went 1 hour and 15 minutes. The band was pretty good, 2 guitar players, one drummer, and a fella on keyboards. The show wasnt a sellout, but near capacity.
Afterwards i got to shake Marty's hand (as they were standing out front at a table in the casino -- signing auto's & promoting their dvd/cd). I think tix for the show are 29.95 normally.
