Many of the hotels are starting to introduce wired or wireless internet in the rooms and public areas. Most are $9.95 per day for unlimited internet access. I've used the service at the Orleans and it works fine.
I have to be sure I get the right starters in for my head-to-head fantasy baseball :)

I'm just guessing, but I bet it's blocked near the book . . . .. . I've seen laptops in race books, but this WIFI stuff is all new. I plan to take a gander next week when I'm there to see if there are more of them now. . . . . Of course, I've seen people kicked out of books for merely talking on or looking at the screens of cell phones. . . . .

I don't know the technical name for them but there are pay-per-minute Internet access in many of the Las Vegas casinos also. The charge is 25-cents per minute. I know the I.P. has them in Betty's Diner and I have seen them elsewhere.
There terminals are are help if you just want to check your emails and you won't have to pay a daily access charge.

Was glad to see that IP offers wifi at 9.95 per day. But when we got there, discovered that the software only worked with PC's not our Mac Ibook.
Fortunately internet access was not the only reason we brought the laptop, we were doing photo editing too.
Has anyone used wifi in Vegas with a Mac?

Roxygurl I Think the 9.95 folks are referring to is the rate to access the internet with your own computer in the hotel room.
I believe most business centers you're gonna find a charge per minute. Sorry, don't know too much about that rate

I haven't been in Vegas since last July, but on my last trip I was at the Polo towers which had no internet access. I ended up using both Kinko's in town for their free wired internet access.
If you have a laptop, you can plug in at any kinko's for free. If you want to use their wireless access point, you have to pay through T-Mobile. I turn it into my office on the road when I need to, but at the more popular sites, you may have to wait a while for a cable.

FYI: Jockey Club (next to Bellagio) has free internet service, walk in, if you look straight back there is an office behind glass doors-walk straight past the service desk (as if you were headed to the elevators which take you to your room). There are two computers which have free access. I have no idea if you can get prints though.

Roxyguy, Stardust has a couple laptops in the lobby. At the business center real comfortable to use.You can get 60 minutes for $20 but the guys there are liberal about charting your minutes and you can use over an unlimited amount of days. You will not be the only sportsbetter using the computers to place their bets

Nah....although you may be hit on by the Timeshare folks. You have to walk past their stand to get to the area where the computers are.

The Jockey Club requires that you be a registered guest or working there to use the computers with internet access. It is NOT open to the public to walk in off the street.

That's very true...they do not have a sign posted saying to the public there is 'internet access' for your use. Although I loath staying on the Strip, while I stayed at the Jockey in March, the computers were there, out in the open, and you did not (at that time) have to stop at a desk and register-nor speak to anyone in particular about it. Folks were just walking up, having a seat, and partaking of the access.
Take a chance, the worse that could happen is that you will told you have to be a registered guest. But if you walk in like you own the place, more than likely you will be treated as such.

Good morning! Just joined the club. Kinkos over in the Howard Hughes Business Development has pc's that you use by the minute. Low rates, especially if you use an American Express card.

I know the coffee shop (like a Starbucks) at the Las Vegas Hilton has free wireless access. But, I'm sure it does not extend to the sportsbook. Maybe other similar coffee shops have the same in other hotels.
One alternative, assuming Internet access is very important to you at all times, maybe one of those devices that allows you internet access wherever you can get mobile phone service is something to look into.
Someone once posted a list here of places for Internet access. However, I couldn't find it.
