Okay so as I said before I am going to Vegas 7/3-7/9 as a 25th anniversary gift from my kids yippie. I can't wait but I am starting to get nervous everyone keeps saying that its impossible to win there anymore. I am a big slingo, 10 times and 12 times person I use to love the the big bang piggy bank game (which Steve loves to) does anyone know where I can play them and if they are still around? Anyway am I wasting my time playing these slots? Any tips I usually do pretty well in AC and I am afraid of losing alot of money in Vegas. So I would like to know which are the better payout casinos, which slots pay best and what should I stay away from? Any tips would greatly be appreciated.

Well, first of all tigrace,if you do OK in Atlantic City you'll do Ok in Vegas too! There really is no difference, just play the same there as you would in AC. Sure some properties boast bigger payback percentages(and I am sure some are better than others) however, wherever you feel comfortable and are having fun is the place you should be playing! You can get lucky anywhere, you never know when or where lighting will strike.
LOL and have fun,Polar
PS, where are you staying?

For many years we frequented the boats nearby and sometimes won and sometimes lost. But we had our favorite machines. When we finally decided to go back to Vegas after many years, we played the same machines that we had been playing at the boats. Same results. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose.
If you like to play Slingo, then that's what you should play. I have seen some Slingo machines at Paris and I believe Harrahs has some. I'm sure that there are plenty of them around at other places as well. Don't know anything about the Piggy machines.
Like Polar said, find a casino where you feel comfortable and go for it.
Good luck and have fun.
P.S. You are going to be so amazed at what Vegas has to offer that you will be so busy sight seeing that you won't have time to visit the slots very much. LOL

I also play at Atlantic City but must say i do much better in Las Vegas.there are a couple of twelve times machines at Caesers that pay out good they were near the Foruem Shops entrance. If you play the dollar slots tha Flaming Sevens in the Flamingo are deasent the are to yhe back near the sports betting area. But like most slot machines being at the right one at the right time is the key :D

Well Sonnex I have to say that I will not be sight seeing at, lol. I am going to Vegas to gamble gamble and gamble. My husband and I are not the sightseeing type. Sure we will walk the strip and probably peak in the othe casinos as we have done when we were there years ago. Our objective is to win, lol and relax see some shows and hopefully come home big winners. I want to thank everyone for the feedback. We will be staying at CP we have 6 free comped nights who knows if we do well we will stay a little more. Which is the closest and nicest rooms to the casino. We are 25 cent players and when we win we go back and forth to 50 cents. Well thanks again

The nicest rooms at CP are in the Augustus Tower and Palace Tower. Palace Tower has some rooms with 2 baths. They are very nice. Both towers are a fairly long walk to the casino. There are a lot of quarter and some half-dollar machines. You won't find many half-dollars in LV; most everything is multi-denominational now - .25, .50, 1.00.

In the ELV Newsletter #621, Rick Garman writes some very practical and sound advice about playing the slots and gambling overall:
"Always remember that gambling should not be looked at as a way to make money! Most of the time, you won't. If you view the slots and table games as a form of entertainment you'll have a much better time (and will probably lose less money)."
That said, if you like 10 Times Pay machines, I've had a lot of luck on the progressives they have at NYNY, both in quarter and dollar demoninations.
Good luck!!

I like playing the quarter/dollar Blazing 7's or quarter/dollar Red,White and
Blue slots. Although I have had good luck playing the quarter/dollar Magestic
Lions slots at the MGM Grand. Good luck and have a great time.I agree
with MikeinChi, always play for entertainment that way you'll have a great
vacation. Happy early 25th Annv. for you and your husband.:)

I like playing the 10x and 12x as well. I don't really win much but I win enough to keep playing for the night.
I stayed at the Stratosphere a couple of weeks ago and they had 8 of the 12x machines. 2 of the machines were side by side...so the 8 made the shape of a square. They were $1 machines.
I played back and forth between 2 machines side by side.
Right before I went to bed, some ederly lady hit $6000 on her first pull. She was on the machines to the left of me.
When I got up the next morning there was an elderly man in a wheelchair that just hit $10,000 on the machine that was to my right.
Dang.
Much luck to you but even more so...enjoy the overall trip and relish in the 25 yrs of ups and downs that it takes to make it to the 25th anniversary!

In my opinion the only way to win at the slots is not to play them. Ha Ha. Worst odds in the casino, but people love them because they are easy to play. The rule I use when playing any machine is to play a machine you can afford to play max coins. That way you are eligible for the largest prize. I also play machines with lower top jackpots. They tend to pay the larger jackpots more often. Just my opinion. I would suggest learning and playing a table game. Much better odds. Just remember gambling should be considered entertainment and not a way to make a fortune(that is for most players)!!! I have to keep telling myself this. :)

On our honeymoon I won $5000 on a $1 10x Machine with the minimum bet. I'm not so sure about betting the max all the time, who knows if I would have won the $10,000 otherwise. I hit a red 7 and then 10X and 10X :) That was on top of the $200 I had in my bucket because I'd been doing ok at that machine prior. I stuck another $20 in since I was ahead anyway and with $7 left of that $20 I was having a MUCH better day! On a 5X machine later that night I won $600 which I immediately blew with the belief I was going to win another five grand, lol. Damn that free alcohol!
I always play at least a double machine, but try for a triple or higher.

We were always told by the cabbies to play off the strip and where the locals play. Actually we have never had much luck anywhere, off the strip or on the strip. They really aren't as fun as they used to be. I can remember years back of hearing girls scream when they hit something big but rarely hear that anymore. Good luck where ever you play. Sherry

I haven't seen any Piggy Bank Machines in Vegas. I know the machines you mean. I like them also.

I like the Jackpot Party machines (Riviera). They seem to be pretty liberal with bonus opportunities.

Hi Jenna, yes you are correct when the 3 little piggys appear on the line it goes into the "Its the piggy bank big bang game" lol me and my friends still sing it sometimes. We miss those machines so much, they have a penny piggy bank machine the bonus is similar but the game is not. But I was at
Mohegan Sun & Foxwood in Ct 2 years ago and they did have them. They had them for 75 cents and for 1.25 but the thing is I love my AC and I really hate driving up North don't like the highway to many trucks and to much traffic. Its South for me the Garden State Pkway is a much nicer drive and
and you go straight through. Well if you or anyone out there finds them please let me know where. Thanks

The only thing I could add to that is I've always said to people who've planned for life after working by trying to hit the big one is that gambling is a retirement plan for people who are bad at math . . . . .
Do it for the sheer entertainment value of the experience (which is why I don't play slots)

Oh My gosh really are you sure they are the ones I am talking about, there is a nickel version called little piggys. As explained before I mean the 25 ones with the 7 wild 7 on it. If so I am actually going in Oct to New Orleans and I will look for them. Thank you so so much, you made my day.

:)I love Wolf Run- stacked wilds & if you get enough of them, they really pay out! It's a penny slot, so you can't lose too much

Ok, remember! Slots are all just for fun, not a career choice!
Some of the 5 cent video slots, like Reel-Em In, Jackpot Party, and Little Green Men can be a blast, and you don't really have to play max coins to win large in relation to your bet, especially if you hit some bonus rounds. Ton's of fun, and if you hit large, then cash it and get out ahead, otherwise have a GREAT time while stretching maybe a $10 buy-in into a several hour session.
I mostly play cheap for entertainment time, but that also needs funding, so I seek out 50 cent or $1 Double Diamond Deluxe machines, or $1 genomination 3x,4x,5x machines. I consider them the ATM. I'm not playing to make a killing, just trying to turn $5 or $10 into somewhere around $40+, so I've got a few bucks of the casino's money to tip the waitresses back at the cheaper denomination "Bonus Round" type of video slots that I enjoy so much more.
Here's a tip! Don't sit at a machine with some huge progressive jackpot feeding $100 of dollars into it. Don't play progressives at all if you aren't going to play max coins, because it would be defined as BAD to hit the jackpot combination and not win the jackpot (or anything at all) because you weren't playing max coins. Believe me, it happened to my wife in Biloxi when she hit the jackpot on a 25 cent Flaming Sevens machine, and did not win a single credit due to her not reading and understanding the pay schedule!
To play progressives, decide before you put in the first dollar how many spins you are willing to buy, and stick to it! I generally try to buy four spins, and if I hit small, that just buys additional spins on the house, If I hit medium and make a modest profit, then I'll take a couple of spins on the casinos dollar, then cash out and walk away with the proceeds.
Sometimes, especially when touring around sightseeing and going into lots of different casinos, I'll just buy one spin on a big progressive...It makes for a better story if it's "Man wins 2 Million on 75 cent bet!" instead of "Man sells company, mortgages house, and loses wife in futile attempt to hit Wheel Of Fortune Progressive!"
And along the lines of buying just one spin, say you have a favorite $1 machine. (Mine has got to be Double Diamond Deluxe!) If you are going to go put $10 in your favorite $1 machine, instead seek out the same machine in a $5 or $10 denomination. Use just the same amount of money you were going to put in that 25 cent or $1 machine and buy yourself a spin or two..Remember all the times your favorite $1 machines coughed up a thirty or forty credit hit on the first spin or two? I try to do this once daily, especially if I've been winning enough that the $10 I'm wasting on a single spin is the casinos money instead of mine. A 30 credit win on a dollar machine will probably just get played back through, but a 30 credit win on a $5 or $10 machine could fund another entire day of heavy play on the lower denomination machines you might normally play .
Never play any machine without reading and understanding the pay table!
Unless playing a progressive I don't always play max coins. If on the pay table, every pay is the same percentage of the bet, then less coins has just as much chance of winning as multiple coins. This is epecially important if putting in one more coin and hitting the jackpot pays more than the amount required for instant attention from certain government entities...I hit the jackpot on the same machine in the same casino 2 nights in a row a couple of years ago in Biloxi...fortunately, I only had in one coin each time, so each jackpot was $1,000 instead of the $2,500 it would have paid on a second coin, so I cashed out without filling out any forms, making any declarations, having anything deducted from my winnings on the spot, or getting any cavities searched.
Leaving for Vegas in 4 days, and I promise I'm going to try every one of the above tactics. After all I wouldn't tell y'all to do something that I wouldn't do!
I may win, or I may win enough to play a lot without really losing. I may lose, but if I lose, I will not lose any more than I had planned to "spend" on my trip. I will eat, drink, gamble, party, and enjoy all that is Vegas!
:cool::cool:
