My neighbor remembers eating at a wonderful Italian restaurant several years ago that was "behind" Barbary Coast. Does anyone know the name and if it's still there? I'm guessing "behind" means to the east, perhaps on a side street off Flamingo.

That would be Batistas which has gone down hill considerably since the 90's when we ate there and it was actually pretty good. Do not waste your time or money, have read about 10 reviews in the last couple of years and only one was favorable.

BATISTA'S,
The last time I ate there, the food was bad, the service was poor and the waiters were rude.
I am not sure how they stay in business.

Here's another opinion: if you want basic Italian food, that's the place to go; if your looking for gourmet Italian you'll have to look elsewhere.

Another NO vote here. It was recommended to us by someone who had not been to LV since the 80's, but such a good recommendation that we tried it. YUK! Find someplace else.
We recently returned from Las Vegas and went to Batista's Hole in the Wall. The food was excellent. We love Italian food and it was certainly some of the best that we have eaten. Authentic Italian food! The service was great!

Just read a report from a couple who went to Batistas. She had the Chicken Parmasean which was $24.95. She said the prices were higher than she expected. you got bread, salad, soup, all the wine you could drink and cappacino for desert. They had an accordian player that played for tips. He played a song for them. She said they were not rushed out of there which was nice. Food was good.
I'm sure there are better places, but sounds like an interesting place to try.
Was at the Venetian one time in that real open area with all the entertainers. ____ Sqaure. Anyway there were some people eating italian outside of one of the restaurants there. It looked delicious.
Which ever you choose. Have fun.

We went to Batista's on our honeymoon many moons ago and it was decent. Have returned 2wice since and it was horrible. We were young and foolish then but not now. There are so many better Italian eateries in Vegas. Ask the Bell Captain or Valet attendent at your hotel where the "locals" go.

Battista's food is just plain awful from start to the cheap wine they serve. Spend you money at any number of good Italian restaurants in and around the Strip.

Supposedly, Harrah's can't do anything with Battista's for 2 years.
