View Full Version : Favorite Roulette Number?

What's everyone's favorite number when they play roulette? and why?

Mine is 11, as my birthday is November 11. I always bet $5 on the 11 once each trip.

One time I walked up to an empty table at the Golden Gate, put $5 on the 11, and the 11 came up. The layout looked kind of funny with one red chip on the 11 and the puck on top of it - the rest of the table bare. I took my $175 winnings right to the cashier window that was about 20 feet away.

Another time, in Reno, I was going for my $5 and about to put it down when the dealer said "no more bets". You know what came up..... (11).

Yet another time I was with my sister in Vegas. I told her that a 23 (her number) would come up on the next roll and told her to put $5 on it. The wheel went round and round, the ball went round and round, but she didn't put the $5 down. Finally, I bet her $5 on the side that 23 would come up and she accepted that bet. You know by now what came up .... (23). Thereafter, when walking through casinos, I would point out to her all the 23's I saw on the roulette displays.....

23 is my favorite number. I usually put money on other numbers as well, but I always double up on 23. Have won on it many times.

A few years my son made his first trip to Vegas. Was playing roulette. He called and asked if I wanted him to some money down for me. I said yes, #23. He did and he won. Now he plays #23, too.

I have no special reason for betting on #23. Just because, I guess.

I always bet 8 (my lucky #), but sometimes add 4 and 14 in there too.

I won $800+ on a single $25 bet. The number continues to be good to me.

IMHO, best bet is to keep on walking, and don't stop at the roulette tables. Odds are too great against the player and in favor of the house.

But it's fun. If you can find a low minimum table, you can play for a long time for a small amount of outlay.

The odds in roulette are a bit more than 5% against the player on all bets except one. That said, I enjoy it once in awhile. There are worse bets in other games (center bets in craps, notably). My wife likes to play roulette, so I do a bit, too.

My strategy is to bet Black and 11 as cheaply as I can. Sometimes I'll add 22, 33, and 8 to it as well. I either lose all my money (never very much) or make a tidy sum (if the 11 hits a couple of times). Very rarely do I break even.

Other perspectives?

At the Rio and Harrahs they have a computerized version of roulette. It is a lot faster then regular roulette, plus you don't have to put up with people reaching over and around you. The minimum bet is $2.50 but you can bet 50 cents to 100 $ . We really enjoy it.

I always play 17, 20, 29 and 0-00

I only play for 25 cent chips/$1.00 minimum - usually someplace like Circus Circus.

My rules:

Buy in with $10
One chip per number
If a number comes up, double up on the bet
Quit if I double my money.

I've heard it said that a good roulette dealer can make a number come out and on one of my plays at Circus Circus, 20 came out. I tipped the dealer and told him I'd double his tip if he got it again. He did and the kids playing at the end of the table were astounded.

Last May was the first time I had played roulette. When talking with various dealers in Vegas, every single one of them said that #17 is the most often played number.

Why?

Because it's the center area from most people's reach around the table.

Best strategy tip offered when we were learning was to take the wheel and section it into 4 sections. Play all the numbers within that section to give yourself a 1 in 4 chance. Also, play one of the 3 strips for a 1 in 3 chance. You don't get rich but you get to play the game for awhile. We watched one guy use this 1 in 3 strategy and go from $20 to $500 in no time flat.

13. Two of my children born on the 13th (the other on the 12th).

At Harrah's two years ago I had one chip on 13 and one chip on each corner. Was able to pick up a few of the side numbers to keep playing. The dealer told me, after 5 or so spins, that this was a $10, not a $5 table. So, I bumped up the bets to $10 total and hit 13! Won over $140 in my first hour in Vegas that year!

I totally agree. Might not be the best odds, but I've lasted a long time on a $5.00 table. I've also lasted a short time :) Just luck, like pretty much everything in Vegas. I won't play poker (way too crowded for me in those rooms!) and I don't like BlackJack. It's either the slots or roulette for me - and again, all luck or no luck at all :)

The odds are a little bad but its a lot slower than other games which makes your money last longer. no thought required and 35-1 on a single # not bad. You have to win 35 hands of blackjack in a row to do that. You can win alot quickly. But the odds are worse in the long run compared with black jack or craps played correctly. BY the way #23

17 is my husbands birthday. He plays it all the time and frequently wins on it. But you're right, I've seen a lot of people play that number and those around it quite a bit. I hate it when I can't reach!

I'm that guy...the one that bought in for $20.00 on the $2.00 table 3 hours ago... and only bets on 12 and winners that would win if 12 did, such as red, even, or 1-18...and still has chips left....

but that's just me...

I like that computerized game at Harrah too. I don't feel like I have to reach all over everybody to play because I have my own screen. I usually play # 11 and 0 and 00.
