Though I can appreciate the trend toward ticket-in, ticket out video/slot machines (easier, much cleaner, etc.), one of the things I used to enjoy was seeing and hearing all the coins come cascading out, and even carrying around my bucket of nickles/quarters and feeding them in one at a time if I so desired. (I'm obviously a real low roller and easily entertained!)

Which of the casinos still have at least some of these old-time coin machines left? I haven't been to LV for 2 1/2 years and I know even then the trend was toward TI/TO. It was also toward quieter machines in some places, and I love all the bells and whistles.

Am I the only LV goer who liked the old machines?

If you forget to cash out the money is gone in a few weeks so don't forget!

From what I have seen in LV, the slot person almost gone. TITO is the big thing but it is more popular in the lower denominations like .01 and .05 slots. If you play .25 or higher the machine still spit out the quarters.

I was in Vegas for my first trip EVER in August. While wandering various places, I noticed that a significant number of people were playing with coins and pulling the handles at Tropicana.

Everywhere I have played I saw only TITO. Even the high limit slots. I kind of like it, because if you sit down to play and if the machine is cold, you can get your ticket and carry it to another machine. Much easier than having to dig a bunch of coins out of the tray and lug them around.

Boy, did I get to be "old time" in a hurry...

I prefer tito except when it comes time to tip the cocktail waitress.......too bad you can't ask the machine to give you a $1 ticket out!

We found a few old coin machines last week at TI....absolutely love the ticket machines now- so much easier, cleaner,no coin jams.

We hate to see the coin machines now- especially the $.05 variety.

Old-time coin machines

Am I the only LV goer who liked the old machines?

I liked them until I got used to the TITO. I didn't realize just how much I liked the TITO until our last trip (a week ago) when stopped into a local casino--the Skyline on Boulder Highway where they had some old machines. I quit playing because I actually became annoyed scooping coins... and I was winning! :)

i stayed downtown this summer and there were plenty of coin machines at the Horseshoe and i think the Riviera (sp?) still has some. also some of the VP machines at Monte Carlo had some.

ME?? i don't miss the dirty hands and the ease of just taken the ticket out and putting it in elsewhere. there is something to be said about the thrill of all of those coins clanging if it your machine there are clanging from.

Know what you mean about the tipping. I usually try to carry some $1's and quarters around, but sometimes I run out. I have gone to the cashier and asked for $1's for a $20. They look at you weird. :o I always feel like I have to explain what I am going to do with them.

Back in February I was very surprised to see coin quarter machines at the Venetian, of all places. People looked happy to play them.

Of course that was some time ago - who knows now!

i do prefer TITO - but that is a problem with the CW. On another board I read that one Vegas fan goes to their bank before a trip and requests $2 bills. They bring them for tip money. Since a machine can't read those bills (I think) they get saved for the tip purpose.

Most of the Casino's are going TI/TO but a few still have some coinin/coinout
Circus Circus, Luxor, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, New Frontier plus some downtown casino's and I know this because I called all of the ones above and was told that they still have a few, but didn't know for how long.
If anyone knows of anymore please let us know.

Try Fitzgerald's in old Vegas. We were there in April and they still had some.

I was there last month. Saw a few at Luxor. Also, back in May, I stopped by Slots A Fun and all the machines I played were coin in/coin out. Trouble is, when you leave Slots A Fun, you feel like you need to wash more than your hands!!

Believe me you will get over this facination for coin machines the first time you go to retrieve your coins and come up with a handful of spilled drink with cigarette butts mixed in. We avoid coin fed machines like the plague now. :p

I think they still have some at the Las Vegas Hilton. Downtown casinos still have some also. I like the old machines because my money seems to last longer.

there are a few at silverton lodge and casion, just south of the strip. also, several of the casinos in henderson haven't upgraded to TITO. there is skyline, eldorado, rainbow to name a few. you can find coin out at el cortez downtown, too.
