I like the tv show Vegas(most of the time). Some episodes are stupid. Book favorites are usually Comp City, Frugal Gambing etc. Don't have any favorite movies. Watch re-runs on the travel channel about Vegas. Never get tired of the same old stuff. Time to upgrade their programs.:D

My favourite Las Vegas media piece is the old A&E TV "Jewel in the Desert." I don't think it's available any more, and it is terribly dated, but I still watch it before every trip.

Movie: Viva Las Vegas- I love looking at the "on-location" scenes. Seeing Vegas as it was and trying to guess where all the new stuff is in relation to what I'm viewing.

Book: Never read one on Vegas...but I'm taking notes!

Special: Travel Channel specials esp the ones about individuals/gangs trying to pull a fast one on the casinos. Love the re-enactments.

TV-don't watch weekly series.

Bugsy (Viva old Las Vegas)
original Oceans 11
Casino
Las Vegas Vacation

This is from my bookstore:
Unoffical Guide to Las Vegas 1989 :)
It's sooo much fun to read because there's been sooo many changes in the area since then.

Fly on the Wall: Recollections of Las Vegas' Good Old, Bad Old Days

When the Mob Ran Vegas: Stories of Murder, Mayhem and Money

The shows have to be:
Las Vegas........ Exspecially when you go to Vegas and ask the Dealers at the craps table where the Monticello Casino is. I love the looks...

Got to be Honeymoon in Vegas for the movie - never get tired of seeing the flying Elvises - "Utah chapter" !!

and, I love the book 24/7: Living It Up and Doubling Down in the New Las Vegas by Andres Martinez - this man used a $50,000 publishing advance for this book, and spent an entire month on the Strip, staying only a few days at any given hotel/casino, sampling the high-stakes tables and games at every big name casino in Vegas. It's a wild up and down (literally) ride, made more enjoyable because of his easy writing style and his "regular guy" attitude - he had never experienced this kind of life before! It's a great book for all Vegas lovers, especially the low roller types like me!!! Read it, you won't be sorry!!!

I am hooked on Las Vegas with James Caan and Nikki Cox - can't get enough. I enjoy picking out inconsistencies whenever anyone drives anywhere - first they pass the Luxor going South, then Circus Circus is on the left, and then you see Paris and Bellagio. Vega$ with Dan Tanna was also a really cool show back in the late 70's, shot onsite at the old Desert Inn.

My favorite movies include those that depict older scenes from Vegas - like the stuff that is gone, or movies that "just end up there" like ConAir, etc.

I've yet to see a book worth reading regarding the "true history" of Vegas.

I can watch anything that revolves around Vegas. But I do have a soft spot for the new Oceans 11 - brilliant! Still waiting to see the original.

I love all the critiques of the annual Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas.

I hunt for any LV special on the Travel Channel. Aren't we due for another Vegas Week yet? The current show "Las Vegas" is worth watching just to hear Elvis sing "A Little Less Conversation" while they show awesome Strip shots.

Would looooove to see the old Robert Urich Vegas series with the Sands, Desert Inn, the Mint, etc!! Can we start a TV Land petition?

My favorite TV show is VEGAS
My favorite movie is Vegas Vacation and I know it is basically awful.
Favorite Book is Dice Angel, the only book I read in the last 30 years

What is your favorite TV Show, Movie, Book and Special on Las Vegas?

By far, the movie which made me want to go to Vegas more than any other was:

Diamonds Are Forever (James Bond)

Came out in 1970 or 1971, last official Bond movie with Sean Connery.

Love the scenes of Vegas, especially the downtown car-chase scene, where you can see the Plaza under construction in the background.

Most of the story revolves around a reclusive millionaire at the "Whyte House" which is really the LV Hilton, although the scenes where Bond rides on top of the elevator to get to the top are filmed at the Landmark.

Great Vegas movie, the best!

How can anyone include CSI??? Most of the episodes are just crime drama and never mention or show Las Vegas, except of course the wide shot at the opening. When they visit a neighborhood, it's so obviously not anywhere near a desert.
The BEST Vegas TV show ever is VEGA$ with the greatly missed Robert Urich.
