One of the things I really enjoy is being in Vegas when it is REAL hot. Maybe I'm weird or something but I love the desert heat. To go along with that there is nothing I enjoy more than laying out by the pool, taking in the great scenery (people watching), drinking beer and listening to U-2 on my Ipod. With that in mind what is your opinion as to which hotel has the best swimming pool and why? We are going back in May, although it is not that hot at this time. I prefer June thru September but I have persuaded my wife that a side trip, from our family hoopla in San Diego, is necessary. She happily agreed.:) Fire away!

You didn't mention your price range on a place to stay, but the best place for the money is the Flamingo. They have several pools and the decor is very tropical - a very relaxing area, plus the guys can enjoy some nice eye candy. Sometimes they have floating blackjack, but I don't know exactly when. Last year they had pool parties around 5:00 with local bands and lots of frivolity. I don't know if they will be doing that this year, but probably so. Their pool is rated the best by a lot of people who have been there.
And then there's the Rio. They have five pools and again it is a tropical layout. One pool has a sandy beach and there is waterfall. There is a special pool for kids and lots of lounge chairs. And there is a bar in the pool area. The Rio is a little more expensive, but if you are going to be there during the week they may be running some specials.
Others with nice pool areas:
Mandalay Bay
MGM
Wynn
Bellagio
Caesars (very Roman decor but no pool with a deep end)
If you are looking for a place on the strip with a pool with a deep end, try Ballys. Their pool area is okay (kind of generic) but you could at least dive in and swim around.
But if it were me, I'd go for either the Flam or Rio.
You can go to Harrah's website and look at the pools for the Flam, Rio, Ballys, and Caesars. Click on things to do under each hotel name. Don't bother with Harrah's - looks like a YMCA pool - or Paris - pretty generic with very little shade.

I love the pool at the Rio because there are always places to sit, there are cooling waterfalls with ledges behind them to sit and relax, and the pool with the sand is kind of designated as the "kiddie" pool.
Caesars Palace is very luxurious, and relaxing, but since I went early in the morning I don't know how the crowds get later. It was pretty empty all morning while I was there. If that is typical, then I like it even better than Rio!
On the other hand, the pool at the Mirage, while beautiful, is crazy crowded and people save chairs with towels and then go back up to their rooms. I walked around the entire area and couldn't find a single chair. I finally just put my feet in the water without a chair. Some of the chairs sat with towels and no people the entire time I was there. Management really needs to fix that.
The pool at TI is also very crowded and small. If you're not waiting in line when it opens, forget about a chair!
Does anyone know when the pools open in the spring?????

If the pool is important, stay away from NYNY. Although I like staying here, the pool area is probably its greatest weakness. Small, crowded, mostly in shade and has the first drop of the roller coaster making a lot of racket.
If you are budget minded, the Tropicana has a nice pool area. Pretty large and nicely landscaped, it's located in the center of the resort. Also has waterfalls and swim-up blackjack. A smaller, adults only pool is next to the main pool as well as a secondary pool completely isolated from the main pool area.
One cool way of comparing the pool areas of the various resorts is to check out the satellite images on Google Earth. Go to Google and download the free software and start exploring.

The Monte Carlo has a nice pool area too. We never had any trouble finding a chair at the MC. It is a quieter casino though and I believe mostly middle age patrons (which we are so we love it). We also love the Mirage pool, but as stated above can be very crowded.

Out of all the places Eileen and I have stayed, the Flamingo had the nicest pool area. In fact, Eileen stayed there with the kids just for the pool.
I also like the pool area at Wynn Las Vegas a lot especially the Eurpeon Area where clothes are optional.:D

Doesn't Mandalay Bay have a topless pool?
