It took a while to figure out what casino I was looking at and finally I figured it out. I have never eaten at Drais so it didn't ring a bell. I Googled it and found out it is in the Barbary Coast. Who in the world is Bill?

Yeah, Barbary is going to be renamed Bill's Gambling Hall and Casino in honor of Bill Harrah, founder of Harrahs.

Oops!! It's not a casino, it's a saloon.LOL

If you click on entertainment, Big Elvis is listed so I assume he will still be there.

Is that computer animation, or have they already changed the marquee? I don't remember seeing it in January. Do TR cards work there now?

Did anyone else notice that Big Elvis is now going to be performing Monday - Friday? A 25% increase in Big Elvis.

I've always worried about Pete's health. Theres been times he hasn't
been able to perform...I hope Harrah's hasn't preasured him into working
more than he can...

I noticed they don't have on-line reservations available yet. You have to call.

I agree with the folks who think it's kind of a goofy name for a place. I also bet the majority of folks out there won't know it's named for Bill Harrah.

I'm glad Big Elvis is going to continue. I haven't had the chance to catch his act yet even though I've tried a couple of times.

Very surprised Harrah's isn't charging for this show. It's not like them to provide anything for free. I wonder how much the drinks went up?

I have a friend who works at the casino formerly know as Barbary Coast. She wasn't too happy about the new name. It's closed today and re-opening tomorrow with new signage, etc. Another one bites the dust... Even though it's a Harrahs property, I'll still have to go check it out - probably Sunday. If I see anything earth-shattering, I'll post my findings.

Read the LVRJ today ... in the PUBLIC NOTICES SECTION there was a statement saying persons had til 'such and such' date to cash in BC chips (they made a very clear description of each chip/token/design) before they are null and void. Can be done, thusly at the Orleans or GC.

They can call it anything they want but I will be calling it Barbary Coast just like the Luxor will remain the Luxor in my vocabulary.

Some things are just wrong!

I got invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony that was held today at 2PM Las Vegas time. This would have been a great excuse for a fast trip to Vegas but the invite just reached me today.

Also the Imperial Palace is releasing 2/$5.00 casino chips commemorating the re-opening of the casino. There was no info as to what is on the chips.

Apparently, the signage on the outside has not been changed. From today's Las Vegas Review-Journal:
"Slot machines also had to be reprogrammed to accept the company's Total Rewards customer marketing program. Work to rebrand the outside of the building is scheduled to start Monday."
Gregrio, I guess that means the website shot of the outside is CG and not real.
Here's a link to the entire article:

When we walked by Barbary Coast on Wed. and they had yellow tape wrapped around the door knobs with signs posted about the change to Bill's. They only taped off half of the doors though and people kept trying to walk in. I guess they dont have locks?? Anyway looking inside you could see all the machines with the tops open. Pretty strange. I am glad they are keeping Big Elvis, always enjoy his show.

Who in the world is Bill?

For those of you who don't know who "Bill" is in the new name of this casino, its in refrence to Bill Harrah (William F. Harrah) the founder of of the company Harrah's in which all started as a small bingo parlor in Reno, NV in 1937 :)

I'm glad to see such a big corporate company still respect their roots. IMO I whish the company would focus on improving what they have already instead of expanding and adding and buying properties like Binion's and Barbary Coast. I walk in HET LV properties and feel that they just don't fit in as well with everything else in LV. I'll give the exception to that statment to Caesar's Palace which they do do a good job with. When reading reviews from people that have stayed at a HET property other than CP I never really hear any hoots or hollars about quality and service. Maybe Paris will get a few good reports once in a while, but I don't even hear many comming from that property.

I'm a fan of Boyd Gaming I wish they would have held on to BC. They seem to do an excellent job with running the old places and keeping quality service and the atmosphere exciting to make someone want to vist an older casino. One good example being the Stardust. I do remember reading many positive reviews on repeat guests that use to stay there.
