Went to the strip today...

The search: I was in search of single-zero roulette & the SIGMA DERBY.

Results are as follows... Now when i say single-zero roulette, i'm talking about it being available on the main casino floor. Not locked up in some high limit pit, or in a basement that us regular folk can play. I had heard rumors that the STRAT had a wheel. Well, i decided to head over there. I havent been in there in nearly 11 months. This was mostly due in part to it's location. Well, i went in and found it!! They had five wheels going, and one of them WAS single-zero. The limit for this turkey was $1 chips with a minimum of $10 'inside'. It was a crowded table -- but then again, all the tables were pretty much jammed. The limits on theirs was similar.

The STRAT had the Star-Wars machines (6 of them). I played one of them for a good ten minutes on the initial insertion of $2, not bad. But, just before i printed my ticket... i got FIVE luke skywalkers (or something) lined up for 1000 credits, woohoo!!

Went upstairs to the shops area that leads to the boarding elevators of THE tower. Again, they're taking photos just after the metal detectors. I.E. delaying the line to get on the elevators. I didnt go up or anything. This was just a budgeted (low) casino crawl.

On the way out i noticed this one shop that had slot-glass. These were specifically from old BALLY ELECTO-MECHANICAL machines. They had mostly the payout charts & then the glass that covered the reels (spell?). Lady in there said people make picture frames out of them & insert 3 little photos for a keepsake, etc. Otherwise, the store had a huge inventory of clocks, and dice/card sets. Yeah, i know weird combo. Anyhow, i picked out a payoff-chart slot glass that my parents used to play a lot. Sucker was prolly 25 or more years old. But, it was only $5. I'm thinking of some sort of a project now... lamp shade? something illuminated? i dont know?

From there i went down to MGM. This was on a recent rumor that they had a SIGMA DERBY. Well, they do. It's located (if my memory serves me) between the cashier and the lion habitat. I get lost in there easily (as i did tonite). It's a quarter machine. It's coin in--coin out, but, it accumulates credits. It's not a TITO. Six of the Eight terminals were working. I played that sucker for a good 30 minutes on my $10. Woohoo. Longest longshot i saw was 62 to 1. I wasnt on it though. Drinks were offered 2x during the 1/2 hour of play. In my opinion, these machines SHOULD BE coin droppers after every race. It was sort of boring looking around wondering WHO 'got that one' 'anyone hit it'. This machine was a dandy when it was a coin-dropper. Now, the only time you hear coins dropping is when someone cashes out at the end & takes the bucket to the cage. Oh well. As for the Marquee and the support pillars, they are not on this one.

While @ MGM, i looked at some of the vp... best i could find with j.o.b. was 8/5. Even at the $1 level.

Dice @ MGM, were:

7 tables open
3 $10 min
2 $15 min
2 $25 min
All were jam-packed.

BJ was avail starting at $10 per hand ((((( 6/5 on double decks, 3/2 from the shoe )))))

Went over to NYNY on account of they have SIC-BO. It's a pretty awful game for odds, but who cares... it's fun to me. Dropped my ten clams pretty fast, but enjoyed a few rolls.

NYNY was especially busy, then again, it was an early satur night. Every single table was open:

Dice, you could find an open spot or sometimes a whole table if you looked.
BJ, about the same
Roulette, very busy, you'd have to elbow your way in.
3-card poker, SWAMPED !!!!!!!!!!!! This was an especially popular game tonite.
VP was 8/5 and even 7/5 thruout the casino. Even found a $2 machine that was 7/5 on j.o.b. Sad.

Thanks for doing all the footwork for us!
I'll be staying 3 (comped) nights at the Stratosphere in April and my favorite game is Roulette. I'll be sure to hit the single 0 table. Little did I know before now that the single 0 is better than the double 0 to play.

I'm really anxious to get back to Vegas.

Hey Mr. K,

What's happening Downtown? :D

Well, downtown is 'downtown'.

The canopy show seems to be CONSTANT repeats.

The filets are AWESOME at mss on thrusday nites. Mmmmm. Dice @ Binions are pretty good. And the La Bayou still does their 'fake' digital LCD countdown every 90 minutes for a SO-CALLED drawing. Oh, and Mermaids, they always say "we've ran out of the 99-cent cups" for the daquiris.

Yep.

Well, I do know that the Plaza downtown and the Monte Carlo offer single zero roulette tables. But that was a couple of years ago when that one guy bet his entire life savings into one spin (black/red bet) and he won.
