I just got this email from Jay Kornegay, the Executive Director of the Las Vegas Hilton Race and Sportsbook:

This year we are trying something new for March Madness. We will be opening up a huge room in the convention area to accommodate the large crowds. We will miss the first day due to prior scheduling but will have the room open (free admission) for March 16, 17, and 18. We will have about 500 seats, 4 giant...giant screens, and plenty of smaller ones. They won't have free drinks in there but we'll have a cash bar with drink specials and a food bar with some food specials.

I am sure Jay will ad some extras also.

Just a personal opinion.

The Las Vegas Hilton has the friendliest race and sportsbook in Las Vegas. You always get a "hello" and a "thank you" from the employees. You might even say Hi to Jay and mention the newsletter to him. (It won't get you anything but it will score points for me :D )

The LVH is just a short trip from the Strip via the monorail and if you make some $$$$, you can stay for dinner at my favorite steakhouse in Las Vegas, the LVH Steakhouse. The manager is another "Jay" who also will take good care of my members.

Good info Steve, thanks. If you talk to Jay again see if he's planning on having that room open for the second weekend of the tourney too (March 22 - 24). Sounds like a great spot to catch the games....although crowds may not be big enough that second weekend to support opening such a large room

Next question is will you be able to make a bet in this remote location too?

Well you could always hang around a few extra days and see Matt Dusk in the Hilton's Shimmer Cabaret on April 2nd ;) (no-one can't say I don't try :D )

could you ask him to lower his room prices for March also? that would be nice... ( LOL)

If it's like any of the other events that the LVH runs then there will be betting stations in the room.

If you make some sizeable wagers at the race and sportsbook, you might be able to comp off a few nights. :)
