Has anybody used payless car rental in Vegas. If so, How much did they hold on your credit card? The total amount of the rental is 94.88 according to my expedia reservation.
Thanks,
Michelle

I'm not sure about Payless, but I think some car companies hold $250.00 to your card. I remember seeing this somewhere, but I think it was at Dollar. Does Expedia say if this includes tax? There will be an airport tax ($10- $15 I think), and if you need insurance that will also be extra.

We use Thrifty and they hold $300. They will take Walmart as well as the major cards.
:o Oops, edit mode. Thrifty holds a minumum of $350 or your total bill plus 15%, whichever is larger. On the Walmart card, you need at least $600 of available credit.

We use US Rent-a-Car, a local car rental service. I think they hold $50.00, but check to make sure first. We always get a good rate from them, either through their website or by calling them. One advantage of this smaller company is that there are no long lines to contend with. At least check them out.

Payless holds 250$.
Butttt....that said.....If at all possible book another rental agency. I am just back from Vegas and rented Payless through Travelocity. It was a painful experience. The location is among the other rental car sites but it is a dump. The service was awful and the car was no bargain either. Of course I rented economy class but there is/was no reason for a car that had the shakes going around corners. I will never rent from Payless again

Thrifty has been good for us. We have Blue Chip cards which gets us in without standing in line. They give 5% discounts for seniors, 55 & older. We always get the best rates from them. I usually check out Orbitz first and see what the rates are for all the rentals; almost always, Thrifty is cheapest. Their lot is easy to get to and we have never waited more than 5 minutes at the airport for their shuttle. We are renting a car for Halloween, mid-size Dodge Stratus, at $17.49 a day, less 5%. Yes, we are senior citizens. Sometimes we get a Sebring. One time daughter was along and we got a jeep. Never do that again. Another time, there were no mid-size left when we checked in and they gave us a Chrysler 300-M. Nice :D . As a Blue Chip member you get one day free rental after 16 days. We have a free one coming up for Christmas.
We check their website frequently after we reserve our rental, and if the prices are cheaper, we cancel the one we have and make a new one. They don't care. One time I had cancelled 3 times; somehow the cancellations did not go through, and they had 4 contracts for us. The guy checked through them all and charged us the cheapest rate. How's that for customer satisfaction?
