Trip report: Every Sep., we make a trip to Las Vegas for a softball tourney.
For the second year in a row, we stayed at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino.
For those of you who haven't experienced the Gold Coast, you are missing
one of the better 'local' hotel casinos. The rooms are very nice, the food
is very good, and the service is very customer friendly. Now, the main
reason for this report is to make mention of the Larry Jones Show, which
we were fortunate enough to attend thru the efforts of Steve and Larry
to get us on the comp list. I would say that Larry Jones is one of the more
talented impressionists and singers I have seen and heard. The showroom
at Fitzgerald's is small but works well for his show. I urge all of you who
visit Vegas to make it a point to see this show.

Bought tickets on line to see the Larry G. Jones show in October. Anxious to see him because of all the positive reviews.
Thank you for your review. Will let you know how we liked it when we get
back. :D

Looks like we finally got a possitive post about the Gold Coast.
Also if you go to see Larry G. Jones, just mention the newsletter at the door and you should get great seats.

Hi Hiroshan and thanks for the nice comments about the show.
I am grateful for people like yourself who take the time to tell people you enjoyed the show. The working relationship with Fitzgeralds management is far better than the 'other' hotel I was at and I am looking forward to working there as long as people keep coming. Just finished week three and things are going better than expected as far as attendance. Each week getting a little better.
It's hard for me to guarantee better seating since it is currently General Admission and I am not actually at the door, but since the room isn't that big, no matter where you sit it's a pretty good layout. Here's a hint, If you want to take a chance and not book in advance, there are some $5 off coupons on property, but they may not be there in a couple weeks.
If anyone want to buy tickets online, you will get by far the best price by going directly to my website. The online processing fee is only $.55cents for General Admission and -1.35 for VIP. The online fees from 'other' brokers range from $4 to almost $9 (by the time it's all over, the broker can make more on the show ticket sale than me.) So book direct with me, pay 'almost the same at the box office,' and save yourself some money. http://www.lasvegasacts.com :)

Hi Larry,
Thanks for posting. Please keep us informed of all the show happenings.
This is a fun show and when I took my son to Las Vegas we saw seven shows and he liked Larry's the best.
And Larry is right about the seating, it is a very intimate setting and there is not a bad seat in the house.

I saw the Larry Jones show at the Plaza. He is the hardest working artist I have ever seen anywhere. Before the show he was in the casino promoting his show and giving away tickets. Right before showtime he was working in front of the showroom talking up the show. At showtime he played a record of Jeff Foxworthy for about 10 minutes, I really don't understand why he did this unless he thought Jeff's recording might get the people is a good mood. Larry Jones is good but he does not have a live band behind him, he plays recordings to preform with and the sound system at the Plaza wasn't that good. If he had a band he would be alot better. I love Gordy Brown at the Golden Nugget because he has one of the best bands in Vegas with him. Jones is O.K. if you understand that this is a very low budget show. Timmyfred

I'm going to see Larry Jones the week of Nov. 13th. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it. By word of mouth, and reading all about him in these reports, I can't wait to see him.
I already bought tix for his show last month (the week he moved to Fitzgeralds). I didn't know about the website a couple of you are talking about, but no big deal, I'm just so happy I'm going to see him.

Well, let me just say I personally think Larry G. Jones is a great impressionist and singer.
He does exactly what he is supposed to do: ENTERTAIN
His show is original, funny, and every time I've attended he's had the crowd (including myself) laughing hysterically. His routines are comical and appeal to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. That's not to mention his wonderful impressions!
I appreciate that he greets and says goodbye to all his guests. He's warm, friendly, spiritual, multi-talented. Listen to his singing voice as well as his great impressions!
He's a great Las Vegas entertainer.
Much continued success at Fitzgeralds, Larry!

Hi Everyone,
The new show has been going well over at Fitzgeralds. It was a bit of a risk for me to leave a guaranteed pay situation and go to a '4 wall' rent the room deal. If nobody were to show up, nobody would get paid, including me. Also moving from 3 years of doing a 'free with a drink' show to a ticketed show was taking a chance, but I have found that people are quite willing to pay for the show, even those who have seen it for free several times before. I offer much Thanks to much of the support of people like yourselves who take the time to post nice things about the show. :D
We just finished the 9th week, and it was the best week yet(for the 6th time). There is still alot of signage up for my show at the Plaza, which I figure is just good advertisement for me. I had a meeting today with a top musical director/composer/songwriter who works with Clint Holmes, Sheena Easton(who I met today), and many other 'name' acts who I probably should not mention. I am looking into what it will take to bring the show to the next level. Possibly a band sometime in mid-late 2006? We'll see...., I'd love to be backed by a band. If the show continues going in the direction it's headed I may be able to afford one someday.
From my understanding, an industry insider told me about 30-40% of the shows in Las Vegas are losing money because advertisment, staff, crews rents, etc. all add up. You'd be surprised how many rooms are 'padded' with comps. Often there is someone with big money behind them to keep them going and it makes me wonder if it's sometimes about putting on a good show or pumping up someone's ego? I just try to have fun, and if I can pay my bills it's a good thing. Word of mouth(and the internet) is the best advertisment.
I have added a new bit to the show: George W. Bush doing actual George W. Bush quotes, it has become a real hit. I try not to get too political, I just pick on everybody. :)
We have been getting some good crowds, so if you really want to get up front, ask for the VIP tickets, which cost a little more but come with a free CD, and a VIP line pass.
Thanks to you all,
Larry G. Jones - The Man of 1002 Voices

Saw the Larry G. Jones Show Monday night, 11/17. He was as entertaining and funny as the reviews we've read. He's really very talented and one great entertainer! We really enjoyed this show. We laughed there and had a great time. We had fun talking about his show later. He really deserves a lot more credit. Very entertaining show for the money. Bought our tickets through Goldstar events.com at half price.
Even if we would have paid full price, we were thoroughly entertained for the evening. We have been recommending his show to anyone back home who is going to Vegas.

My favorite was the George Bush quotes! He picked on my husband, sang to him, sat on his lap, was so funny! I told everybody I know to see him when they go to Vegas!

Sorry,...Saw the Larry G. Jones show Monday October 17th, during our October vacation, not 11/17. I wrote a delayed trip report, and it being November, automatically put 11/17. Sorry for any confusion. I was the one confused at the moment.:o ...And it is still a fun show to see!
