Hi, I am Vegas Vic, the Mrs. is, well of course, Vegas Vickie.
Just found this board and so far it looks really good. :)
Been to Vegas maybe 8 or 9 times in the last 10 years or so. Been to Tahoe quite often and also to Reno. Not much of a high roller........
How about the rest of you?

I think I remember you from another message board.
We go to Vegas 3-4 times a year. To a nearby casino, about once a week.
Did Reno once about 10 years ago, didn't care for it. Going back to LV in Dec. can't wait :)

It is sad to see the devastation there now. I'll probably go to Vegas more often until they rebuild the Biloxi casinos. I have Vegas trips booked for October and January. :)

Same here, been to Vegas maybe 8 or 9 times in the last 10 years.
Check out my avatar. You can have it if you want and I'll change mine. I was going to change it anyway. I just have not found a pic of the strip yet that I want to use.
Let me know and I'll email it to you.

Come from south of Dallas and fly out from DFW, either AA or AWA whichever has the best rates. Really enjoy Vegas. It's becoming a home away from home. Just wish I could go back to Dallas with more moola than I take more often.

Hi everyone!
I only started going to Vegas in 1999 (a late bloomer?) and have been there with my hubby about 9 or 10 times now. We try to go once or twice a year but are staying away for a couple of years to get the credit card debt in balance. I can't wait to get back!! :)

Ardie from BC, Canada! Started going to Vegas 22 years ago for a delayed honeymoon and have pretty well been an Imperial Palacer once or twice a year ever since. I took my son to Vegas for his 21st birthday and took my whole family down for Christmas (I'll do anything to get out of all the Christmas cooking and cleaning) 2 years ago. I'm going this November for my neice's 21st birthday and I hope to retire 6 months of the year down there when I retire in 5 years...Yup, I'll be a big 55 years old!! When I go to Vegas, I still feel like I'm 21!

Hi All,
We're all starting to sound like Chevy Chase with our "Vegas Vacations" stories. Went out for our 25th Anniversary and had a great time and have been out every October except one, because of a family member's health. And this year will be our 37th wedding anniversary and another trip to Vegas in October. YAY!
We renewed our vows on our 25th Anniversary back home with our children and parents present. My dad was ill and it was very special as our anniversary is 9/28, my parents 9/29, and my husband's parents 9/30. (I should play those numbers!)
We LOVE the weather, the scenery of the Southwest, the casino/hotel buildings are indescribable to people back home. The pictures you take just don't capture the scenery the way we see it at Red Rock, or Valley of Fire and even Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks in southern Utah.
The variety of dining options in Vegas is second to none. The shows go from comedy club to big production numbers to zany like Blue Man Group. Even found Elvis, several of them...some have more talent than others, but entertaining.
We have four grown children, three married. Had the chance to bring two of them out, our son with his wife and one college age daughter to show them the Southwest and Las Vegas, on separate trips. Of course, our daughter loved Vegas and wanted to transfer to UNLV for her Senior year. We said NO and bought her a UNLV sweatshirt. She settled for that AND a silver bracelet.
They can't believe the size of the hotels and how everything is so spread out in Vegas, compared to back East. Have to get two more daughters and sons-in-lawout here. Love to see their expressions as we go around and do the signtseeing musts. It's kind of like when we took them to DisneyWorld for the first time when they were younger, and again, and again. Now we have two grandchildren, so I can see in the future a DisneyWorld trip even though my husband says he's "Disneyed" out.
Our one daughter keeps saying, "Why do you always go to Vegas? Don't you want to travel and see the pyramids or Eiffel Tower or castles? I said, "We do!" and we both laughed. I know what she means, but we enjoy Las Vegas. It can be relaxing or very busy, on the go. The one day side trips are a great break from the noise and lights. Then it's fun to come back to the excitement of the city, and always the chance of winning something, and just having fun.
So this will be our 14th trip and can't wait to get off the plane at McCarran, get into our rental car and enjoy. 22 days and counting!

Glad to see that I'm in good company with other Vegas crazy citizens! :D First trip to Vegas was in 1996 as part of a team sales incentive contest win from my job at the time. We went for the weekend and I had only $150 to spend for everything! But, I was hooked by that Vegas magic! Next trip wasn't until 2000 w/hubby at the Luxor which just fueled the fire and then I managed to get my sister to take a trip with me in 2003, and we have gone together every year since. Hubby and I have gone a couple of times since; last year I got to go twice and this year I'll have three trips in 2005 under when we go in November. In all I've taken around 8 trips, and have no desire to slow down!! ;)

We try to go 2 - times a year. Last trip we rented a car and rode out to the Valley of fire. Wow what a beautiful place. You must to to see the rock formations and different colors. We actually spent the day site seeing for the first time. Usually we try to go to 2-3 shows. Stay 3-4 days. Depending on if we get comped for the room. I also look for specials on airfare. Went the week of Christmas last year. I was very disappointed in the decorations or I should say lack of decorations. LV was empty and the slots seemed looser.

Hi. My name is Cindy and I'm from New Jersey. My husband and I go to LV 1-2 times per year. We love it! We usually stay at Bellagio, this November we're staying at Mirage for 7 days. Looking forward to seeing Celine Dion, The Rat Pack, Amazing Jonathan, Larry Jones, and finally a Hoover Dam Tour. We've been coming to Vegas for 8 years now and I still haven't run out of things to do! I'm already planning my next trip (either April or next Nov.)! This board is so full of information and everybody sounds so nice! I'm glad I became a member. We go to Atlantic City a few times a year, but it's not that great! Some shows are ok, gambling is good, but I don't think the hotels compare to Vegas, service/cleanliness, and not much else to do there. Maybe because I'm from NJ, Atlantic City doesn't thrill me.

DH and I have been going to LV for the past 12 yrs, started out 1x every 2 yrs and have grown to 4x per year for the last 2. It's our Disneyland! We've taken our DS 3x (first on his 21st and then each year since). For the last 6 yrs our "home" has been the MGM. We were at the MGM on 9/11/01 and, because of no flights, ended up "having to" stay a total of 8 days. Last year we got an invitation to a Slot Tourney at Bellagio in December and decided it was time to try this form of FUN (especially since they were offering us 3 nts comp). This past July we stayed 3 nts comp at MGM and 3 nts comp at Bellagio. We leave 10/6/05 for 4 nights at Bellagio. In July we were approached by a host at Bellagio and for this trip we have made our arrangements through her. Over the years, the other places we have stayed include LV Hilton, Rio, NYNY and Bally's. We LOVE the size of the casino at MGM (many don't, but we do), but recently thought we'd like to experience another place and, lo and behold, up pops the offers to stay at Bellagio. If MGM was to redo their rooms (getting a little out-dated) we'd probably go back there. WE LOVE LV, and are seriously thinking about retiring there in 10 yrs or so.
Thanks Steve & Hunter for the WONDERFUL new site - you've done a remarkable job and we'll be daily users here. Gotta have our LV fix to get us through the months until we go again! ;)

Funny, went 10 years ago, next trip was 5 years later, next trip was two years later, then one year - this year will mark the first time i've gone twice in a calendar year - February and this coming November yippee!

Since you cannot be the worst Vegas enthusiast anymore, you may have to settle for being one of the best! :)
Let's see, hmmmm, I first went to Vegas in 2000, stayed at Bally's and got my butt kicked in blackjack. I've since been there about 15 times since with a yearly trip for work and then the rest being pure pleasure (although I always manage to make the work trip quite pleasureable as well).
Early in 2005 I moved to SoCal from Chicago, so I'm sure I'll be going much more often! That drive makes it so easy ... this whole work thing get's in the way of spontaneous trips in the middle of the week though.
I enjoy staying at different hotels on the strip, dining off strip, as well as the GAMING ... particularly Blackjack. Sometimes I go to LV for Bachelor Parties and get so entrenched in blackjack that I don't want to attend any of the activities. Never get more than 2-3 hours of sleep in LV and always have a blast! What a town ... Good Times!

Hi Vegas Vic..been heading to Vegas since 1985, and go at least two or three times a year..I have seen many changes over the years. I have arrived just after a snowfall, and been there in Jan when it was near 80 degrees, arrived a few hours after the implosion of the Dunes and just before the Landmark's demise. Been in the old Aladdin and the new Aladdin, the Sands and Silver City, El Rancho(my first stay) and Bob Stupaks Vegas World. Nothing like Vegas, as it keeps changing and reinventing itself. But look forward to each trip and new adventure.

Hi from Lois in New Jersey:
Our first trip to Las Vegas was a reward from my boss, who beat an arson rap, and had promised us if he was acquitted he'd take us anywhere we wanted to go because his other secretary and I stuck by him through the trial (even though the question was never answered).
We live 25 miles from Atlantic City, and had been gambling there since casino gambling began in 1976 and we couldn't get enough of it. The problem with A.C. back then was the crowds standing 3 deep at the tables and slots.
So we picked L.V. He didn't mind because there was a business convention there at the time we went, so he wrote off our trips.
We stayed at Caesar's, which we thought was a little too snooty for us, but we had a wonderful time. We were impressed that we could play any game or slot machine we wanted without getting into a fist fight over a seat.
Of course we couldn't wait to go back by outselves, so next year we booked a flight and stayed at the Dunes. More our style.
Once the kids got older and needed less and less financial help from us, we bumped it up to twice a year - at the end of April and October.
We've done the tour at Hoover Dam and flown the small plane over the Grand Canyon. We've seen a few shows and gone there with friends, with family and alone. We've done all the free stuff, of course.
We're leaving Sunday and will be at IP 10/23 -10/26 and am I ready! The only thing I want to have to think about is where to eat and what I want to play.
If my husband is up and at 'em while I want to sleep in a little, he can wander around on his own. When he's ready to hit the sack fairly early, I have no problem trekking to wherever I want to go.
There's no other place like it in the world.

It will be my wife's first time in LV, and the last time I was there was ten years ago. Would like to hear from other members and will appreciate any advise/comments. Looking at the calendars, it appears that there is nothing extrordinary going on while we are there, NFR conventions etc.
HELLO FROM CT
Believe me there is something going on there!!! You will be amazed and delighted, and wish you had a ton more time. I highly recommend that you do a 3rd or a quarter of the strip each day, plan an evening jaunt downtown for the amazing light show, and plan a free show or event for each day you are there, as well as some of the wonderful entertainment that is no longer free or cheap, but extraordinary! Not to miss one of the Cirque shows, they are not to be believed. (I think Mystere has a half off special right now!) Read Papa Georgio's trip report (his is the best of the best, sounds like a travel book!) and get some ideas from that. Maybe even renew your wedding vows in one of the chapels with an Elvis impersonator to serenade you! I would also recommend a trip to see Hoover Dam with the tour, with a day trip to the Grand Canyon, time permitting. As you can tell, I can think of a million things to do in Vegas! My husband and I are seriously considering semi retirement there, there is so much to do and see, and new stuff all the time! Have a fabulous trip and plan to write a trip report when you return. Of course, Mr Georgio has set the bar way up high!

Hi everyone: I'm from Wisconsin and started going to Vegas in 1992 when my husband and I got invited to a wedding out there. Of course, it was ""love at first sight" and we went back once a year (and sometimes twice) until 2000. One of my sons got married out there in 2000, which was so much fun, and after that we started going more often. I am up to approx. 4-5 times a year now - stay alot at the Sahara and/or downtown. My granddaughter got married out there last year. We absolutely love it there and can't wait to get back. I am always planning my next trip. :)
I really appreciate this site and all the hard work that went into getting this going. It is really great to be able to get that "vegas feeling" when I am reading through these posts. Thanks much Steve and Hunter. Ruth

Hello from NY - I started going to Vegas in 1983 - I was a delegate to the WIBC bowling convention and I shared a room with 3 others at Westward Ho. I remember I took $600 for 6 days and went home with money. (I don't think it would last me 2 days now - lol). But the rooms were clean and we had a great time in their casino at night when we got back from wandering around the city.
Now we try and go at least once a year since our son is a chef and lives there. He has been fortunate to work for Steve Wynn when he still had Bellagio and he worked at LeCirque. He has been at Wynn Las Vegas since it opened and now has a new offer for an executive chef position. Going after the holidays are over to check it out.
We have stayed at Bellagio, Rio, Harrahs and Golden Nugget. We haven't ventured elsewhere because we have had good to great service at these hotels so we haven't been interested in staying anywhere else.
We can't wait!!
