What is Harrahs trying to do, own every hotel on the Strip? I hope they don't tear it down.

Nobody knows what will happen to the IP. Some say it will be imploded. Others think it will be refurbished then Harrahs will be refurbished. The two casinos are already connected by a covered walkway, so who knows what they have in mind.

Next will be Barbary Coast.

Just to shed some light on the subject of implosion..It's a given that the I.P. will be imploded. It is just too old for Harrah's to refurbish it. I would give it a two year time frame for this to get started.

Harrah's will probably take out O'Shea's, Bourbon Street, Battista's Strip Mall and possibly Bally's (though not at the same time) along with the I.P. The Barbary Coast is the only obstacle left in Harrah's path of implosions and that may fall into Harrah's hands also, eventually.

I'm more upset by the pending loss of the Westward Ho . . .Thank God my next trip is before the November closing. Gonna miss those $1 beers and cheap hot dogs.

We may have to start a "KEEP BOB" letter writing campaign but hopefully Harrah's will realize what a wonderful person Bob is. But then again we ARE talking about Harrah's.

Once they tear down the IP my number of trips will likely decrease. It wont be long before all the strip will be high priced megas. :mad: :( :confused:

I am so glad to read that I am not the only one really annoyed by Harrah's taking over the Las Vegas (Las Harrah's?) strip. I have stayed at both Harrahs and Rio and found them to be cold, impersonal places.

I have never stayed at IP but feel that its independence is important to Las Vegas. It is the most creative casino out there (celebrity dealers, champagne pit, etc).

I love Barbary Coast and I think it is an important part of the strip - small, warm, boutique-y and completely different from anything else. I know that it is still owned by Coast but I don't see that lasting.

I also love Bally's casino and was hoping to stay there on my next trip. Oh well.

Harrah's is becoming the Walmart of Las Vegas. I won't shop in Walmart and I won't stay in Harrah's-owned properties.

I agree about Harrah's. I not only will not stay at any of them, but will not play at any of them. They can keep all the bad games with bad paybacks.

We're still Harrahs fans. We like the Caesars card as well. When the two are combined, we will be in hog heaven. Only thing we don't like about Harrahs is they don't give same day cash back, Caesars does; we are hoping Harrahs will incorporate this into their card when the two are combined in March.

We play a lot on the MGM-Mirage cards and One Cards, and don't get anything back except an occasional discounted room and meal. We get free stuff from Harrahs, so.....
