This weeks Topic Of The Week question is:

Here's some ideas:
• Top of the Eiffel tower at night while the Bellagio fountains are going off.
• On a gondola at the Venetian.

1. Alone in the desert at sunrise/sunset. (While there's still an undeveloped area available) Red Rock Canyon maybe?

2. If you do it public...'ya gotta get down on one knee to command the attention of everyone around you! Plan it BIG!! Everyone likes to get in on a proposal. Just pick a place that's reflective of your personal tastes (Elton concert? Top of the Iffiel Tower? Slow dancing at a trendy club?)

Congratulations!!
Enjoy the moment

Hi. Take her to the "Top of the World" at the Stratosphere. Make sure you let them know when you make the reservation about your plan and that you want a table next to the window. We have been there several times and it is an experience. Propose just as the Strip comes into view. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Either the Top Of The World restaurant, if you want SOME privacy, or in front of the Bellagio Fountains if you don't. The Eiffel Tower isn't too bad but there is a lot of activity going on with people trying to get the best view. Course, if you want lots of people to be involved, take her to Celine and have Celine call both of you up on stage. I'd be wanting to make sure she's gonna say yes if you do this one! Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

I have to vote for Top of The World too. Great view, great food....will be something she always remembers. Please post something to let us all know how it goes.

My husband proposed to me high atop the Eiffel tower. We found a secluded corner at around 11:00 at night in December, 2001 The fountains were going off at Bellagio, and it was the most romantic thing in the world. Something that I will always remember. As a matter of fact our cake topper for our wedding was of the tower. Something that we got right in Vegas!
I would forget doing it in front of 500 people. It so ruins the magic of the moment. It should be a romantic interlude between a man and the woman that he loves!

you don't want to be at the top of the Eiffel tower when it's cold and windy. Not very romantic. But, the Eiffel tower restaurant is very romantic, with great food, and a perfect view of the fountain show. Again, ask for a window table.
Top of the world would be one of my picks too. For either of these, take lots of $$$$!!!!

Best Place---Cruising in a gondola at the Venetian while the gondolier croons a beautiful Italian love song!

Worst Place---Showing her the ring while dining at the Circus Circus buffet!:o

One of the most romantic spots I have ever been in my life is the balcony of the Fontana Bar/Lounge at the Bellagio. You are just above the water at the center of the fountains. The music is spectacular. And between shows you can quietly hear the incredible band playing inside....assuming you might be doing this after sunset. There are several "tables for two" along the railing. But there is a separate walkway that juts out over the water. What's so amazing is that it doesn't cost a penny to go here! The only thing they require is that you purchase a drink...and you may need a few! I would have killed for my husband to have picked such a perfect spot! And one other hint (if you are so inclined)...have a camera filming the entire event. You should be able to pull that one over on her since thousands of people film those fountains each year. Trust me. It may seem a bit crazy right now. But take it from a person who has been happily married for almost 17 years - I would love to have that moment on film all these years later!

The best of luck to you! Let us know how it goes.

Cruising in a gondola at the Venetian gets my vote also. If you should decide on one of the restaurants, make sure the menu has something that the 2 of you like. Good luck.

On the gondola at The Venetian. Just before you get to the turnaround. So you can have the quiet moment in private before the crowd catrches on and cheers you from all sides. And the story only gets better each time she tells her friends...

Of course, you will have to break a few Coast Guard rules to unbuckle the seatbelt and take a knee, but it's a once in a lifetime moment, right?

(Well, in my case, twice, but you know what I mean...hey, I got better with practice.)

There is an Asian restaurant at the Wynn which has one outdoor table - it juts out over the lagoon - if you tell them your plans, could possibly reserve it - gorgeous!!!

Sorry, can't remember the name of the restaurant, but I bet another newsletter member knows it!

Another suggestion would be a helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon - they have trips with picnic lunches - how 'bout a proposal there?

and please remember that women are very emotional and loving, but have memories better than an elephant, so be careful of what you promise because your lady will remember it word for word 50 years later. It must be a meaningful place to her. Can't miss places are the Beliago, or the Paris. Be prepared to be flooded with tears of joy. Best wishes..

We Took My Son And His Girlfriend To The Fontana Bar So He Could Surprise Her. We Got A Great Table On The Patio And After One Drink They Got Up And Went Out To The Edge To See The Water Up Close-little Did She Know That I Pulled The Video Camera Out Of My Purse And Was Filming The Whole Proposal-bended Knee And All.
It Was Cool Having It On The Patio-out On The Street It's Too Crowded And Way Too Loud!!! The Eiffel Tower Is In The Back Of The Pics And When People Saw Him On Bended Knee They Payed Attention To Them Instead Of The Water Show-who Would Have Thought- Then They Whole Patio Clapped, They Even Showed They Video At Their Wedding Reception. And Of Course They Went To Vegas For Their Honeymoon!! It Cost Us 58.00 Bucks For 6 Drinks!! But They Have The Reciept For A Souviner!! Good Luck!

Good luck with your proposal! Many good suggestions here, but some don't fit my style. The Venetian I love but somehow it comes across as a boat in a mall. I guess its all state of mind but malls don't seem romantic to me....
Bellagio fountains and Eiffel tower seem really good but also a bit too easy choices, i go for things that a little more unique..... The desert sounded good but then i thought about Vegas mob movies. Oh look honey there is a shallow grave....... Not to mention, "hey, why are you taking me to the desert?" " sorry honey i cant tell you that right now..... I have something planned for you ......"
Id try to arrange something more wild, like walking up to one of the mime statues at Paris or Venetian, and they motion you two up and hand you the ring box.... takes work but blows her away. Could you Imagine if "Caesar" walked up and was involved? its all what your into. I am sure many entertainers would participate too. Even some celebrity chef might if you called ahead and asked who would be there. Hotels and concierge staff love that kind of thing most of the time. Be creative and bring out your fun personality.

Hey everyone.
These are great ideas.

Thankyou Steve for posting the question for me and thankyou to everyone that is helping me with this. This is going to be a big day so I want to get it right. ;)

Im planning on doing it December 8th (Her B-day). We will have some friends with us who may or may not be in on the surprise.

Will it be too cold for any of the outside stuff?

Please keep the ideas coming.
Thanks again.

I'll echo what mjjgambler said -- the Fontana Bar. Also, the idea of having it filmed. I mean why not.. you'll probably have sweaty palms & wont even remember what you said, did, or what knee you were on 7 seconds later! But, you can look at the video for decades to come.

The ballagio fountains (out on the sidewalk) i think would be pretty bad. The Fontana Bar has class to it - and you're less likely to find some loser-heckler to yell out "oh noooo, you'll be sorrrrrrry!". Plus, the foot traffic during a fountain show can be horrendous.

I'm sure if you had a friend get to the Fontana an hour before hand (and maybe take care of 'stuff' with a couple of andrew jacksons) to have the perfect table vacant. Then, you can casually just walk in and say 'oh, look honey - there's a table open right over there by the balcony'.

Then, let magic happen. Woohoo.

:)

If you could get one of the headliners to give you a few minutes on stage with your girlfriend, what better place to propose and how could she ever refuse in front of soooo many people.

I'll go along with many folks about the balcony at the Fontana Bar, one of the MOST romantic places in LV. It is often closed in cold weather though. You may wish to check with the bar to make sure it is open. It was closed when we were there last March. Best of luck! ;)

Either in front of the fountains at the Bellagio
or my favorite Top of the Tower at the Stratosphere
you could either do it while having dinner or on the Observation Deck
overlooking the strip

What a fantastic idea ;)
I sent an email to the original poster with an idea on how to make this happen as I do have a great relationship with a headliner show on the Strip.

This would be so cool.

Hi

I would say rent a private ride on the Gondolla at the Venetian and somehow let your guide know what you want to do - have him start to sing a love song and then in the middle of the long song, present the ring and pop the question.

You can then stroll through Saint Mark's Square and enjoy a nice romantic dinner there.

Also with the gondolla ride, you can jump right into the water if she says "No" - just kidding

Good luck and let us all know what you decide and how well it turns out as now everyone wants to know

Great idea YJAJJ! I loved the helicopter tour over Vegas and Grand Canyon. It would be perfect! Time the proposal so that you're flying back over Vegas as the sun sets (twilight time) and the strip lights just came on...what a sight and what a moment to remember! Just when she is taken aback by the amazing view, that's when you pop the question. ;)

I vote for the gondola ride. It is customary to kiss as you pass under each bridge. While kissing her take the ring out and have it waiting for her as she opens her eyes. God bless

I POSTED LAST WEEK ABOUT MY SON PROPOSING ON THE BALCONY AT FONTANA IN BELLEGIO. IT WAS GREAT!!

NOW I JUST RETURNED FROM VEGAS THIS WEEK AND DECK TOP ON THE RIO HOTEL'S VOODOO LOUNGE IS AWESOME. YOU HAVE A VIEW OF THE WHOLE STRIP. 5I FLOORS UP, YOUR OUTSIDE. WE WENT AT 8 O'CLOCK BEFORE THE DISCO CLUB CROWDS SHOWED UP AND THERE WAS ONLY ABOUT 10 PEOPLE IN THE WHOLE PLACE. OR YOU CAN EAT AT THE RESTAURANT THEN GO OUT ON THE DECK AFTER.

http://www.riovegasnights.com/index2.cfm

THIS IS THEIR WEB SITE. CHECK IT OUT. EVEN IF YOU DON'T PROPOSE IT IS A VEGAS MUST DO, AND I'VE BEEN GOING TO VEGAS 3 TIMES A YEAR FOR 20 YEARS!! AND I LOVED IT. GOOD LUCK

Thanks again for all the great insight.

Im getting the ring this week but still havent worked out the details of how to do this.

Im leaning towards outside the bar area at Ballagio, Voodoo Lounge, or Effile Tower however, all options are outside and it will be December. Were both coming from Florida. I'll be nervous enough without having to try getting the words out through chattering teeth. (Then again, I can play off my tension as just being cold ;) )

I like the idea of doing it during a show as well. Im still trying to get a handle on what kind of show were going to see.

I really like mjjgambler's idea of getting it on video. If I can manage to do that I will post it here.
Thanks again for all the helpful advice.

You'll know when the time is right.......
I proposed in April, in the gardens in front of Ballys of all places. I had all these plans, the gondolas, the Eiffel Tower, etc. but when we were at these places it didn't feel right. I'm not saying to discount any suggestion, but you'll feel it when it's right...
BTW, we're getting married in 8 days, in Vegas.

I’d really like to thank everyone that helped me with this…

After much deliberation, I ended up proposing at the rotating restaurant at Top of the World at the Stratosphere.

I had the entire day planned out; breakfast and mimosas in bed, couple’s day spa and dinner at the Stratosphere. Not everything went according to plan. There was no hot water anywhere on south of the Mirage because of a broken gas main so the day spa was out and showers weren’t working. Needless to say, everyone in Vegas was getting a little ripe. The hot water finally turned on and we went to the restaurant a few hours later.

With the help our waiter Max, I did it between the main course and dessert. Max brought out what he called a “special dessert” in covered dish. He lifted the cover and walked away revealing the ring. My fiancée immediately began crying and repeating “Oh My God!” The tables around us began applauding saying: “Congratulations! What did she say?” She was still in shock… she hadn’t been able to say anything. After what seemed like an eternity she said yes.

Note: I had planned on getting down on one knee but because the restaurant rotates, I would have ended up proposing to the dessert cart.

I would have like to have done it on stage as a few members recommended but after she told me that the nearly threw up when she went to the bathroom trying to get over the shock, I realized it would have been a bad scene.

Thanks again for everyone's input.
This was the greatest day of my life.

I proposed in front of the Bellagio fountains four years ago. Every time we go to Vegas I feel like I could stand there for hours. It brings that feeling back... the way I felt right before I did it. Truly something speacial, very romantic. On top of that ... someone yelled "go for it man!" It was great!

Just wanted to throw in this spot I proposed at, it's the VooDoo lounge @ The Rio that overlooks the whole strip http://www.wantickets.com/images/event/VoodooLoungePatio_18.gif

This is the 2nd level in the picture. At around midnight they close off this level to the general public. I gave a special handshake ($20) to one of the bouncers working there and got permission for me and my girl to go down here and we had the whole level to ourselves. It was soo cool we got to overlook the whole city like vip's and then I popped the question.
