Dear LV Friends,
I usually spend all my time on the Strip and wanted to go downtown for the day on a Sunday to see the light show, gamble and eat at a good restaurant, anything but seafood as I am allergic. Please advise the ones you chose as favorites and anything else special to do. When I used to meet my mom in Vegas before she passed, we would meet at The Horseshoe and then split up to sleep but meet each day. She only liked it there due to the poker table and the reasonable time she could have. I have been to the Golden Nugget, Fitzgeralds and Fremont to see also, but I haven't eaten at a good restaurant. Anyone please, let me know what you recommend.

Hello B!

I have enjoyed the Triple 7 Microbrewery in the Main Street Station. Good food, variety of things on the menu, and excellent beer.

For a bit more upscale, I have heard the steak house in Main Street Station is also very good.

Mixed reviews on the food at the Center State restaurant at the Plaza - but the best downtown view; it looks right down Fremont street and the light show.

I've also heard good things about "Pasta Pirate" _ think its in the California. Pasta, steak, seafood - every meal includes a complimentary glass of house wine. I keep finding myself downtown when they are closed, I will get there eventually!

For romantic upscale, Hugo's Cellar has tableside salad preparations, a rose for every lady, excellent beef = and of course I can't remember which Fremont Street casino it's located in, either!

Less money, more food - the buffet at main street station can be very good.

Less money, less food - th 99c shrimp cocktails at the Golden Gate, a great Vegas tradition!

You're right about the 777 brew pub at Main Street station. It's very good. :o

Try the Center Stage restaurant at the Plaza. It has a direct view of the lightshow through the windows and the music from the show plays inside the restaurant. The food is good and so are the prices.

In my opinion, the best-kept secret downtown is the 2nd Street Grille at the Fremont. Outstanding food with a Pacific Rim influence. I love their lamb chops, my husband loves the pork chops, and they have a wide variety to choose from. Very reasonably priced, in a comfortable, quiet atmosphere. :)

How about Roberta's at the El Cortez? Great food, great service, and very reasonable prices.

For a nibble or two and some great beer I'd suggest the Brewpub (I forget the name) at the 4 Queens. They have excellent garlic bread knots (YUMMM) and a few other good items for appetizers while you're waiting for a table at Hugo's Cellar (another good choice for romance or just good food). We did this last December. They have a beer sampler which is awesome as well. Cheers!!!

I have enjoyed the Triple 7 Microbrewery in the Main Street Station. Good food, variety of things on the menu, and excellent beer. The Microbrewery is good place to watch the sports...has an excellent selection of beer and good food. Main Streets Buffet is nice for the price, and often less crowded than the buffets found in the Golden Nugget.

Across the street from the Lady Luck on 3rd and Ogden, is their new restaurant, George's. They offer live piano bar in an adjoining room (nightly I beleive) excellent selection of food, and great service.

In the Lady Luck itself you can find the Burgundy Room. Very, very nice!

Have eaten at Magnolia's 2X. Pretty EZ to get comps. Nice place for lunch, with a view of the casino in certain sections.

The Microbrewery at MSS is ALSO great for lunch. Ate there twice.

Tony Roma's for ribs....what else can be said. Good food, at a good price. We hit this place once every trip.

Centerstage was good as well. Tipped the Mater'd(sp) 10 bucks , and got the best table in the place. The booth that looks right down Freemont street. Got a T Bone, was delicious, and price was fair.

We only do Buffets for breakfast. We have been to the one at The GN, and MSS. I will NEVER goto the MSS buffet again. Not that it was that bad, but the GN is better IMO.there is a reason the line gets that long.

If you get a chance to walk over to the California Hotel, try the Redwood Grill. They have really good food & nice ambience...Dear LV Friends,
I have been to the Golden Nugget, Fitzgeralds and Fremont to see also, but I haven't eaten at a good restaurant. Anyone please, let me know what you recommend.

Another vote for 2nd Street Grille. The steakhouse @ Main Street Station mentioned above is the Pullman Grille and is it very good. We have found the service and food at Center Stage to be inconsistent so we no longer dine there.

I've eaten at just about all the places downtown and my favorites in order are:
1. Second Street Grille
2. Hugo's Cellar
3. Center Stage
4. Roberta's (best value esp. with a coupon)

The California has several good buys in both of it's resturants and Main Street Station is also very good.
