Hi all, this is my report from my trip to Vegas 8/27 - 9/1. We were comped for two nights at the Paris ( any night) so we chose Sat & Sun. We also had a two night comp during the week for Wynn. So we ended up staying at Paris for 3 nights (paid casino rate for one night) and two comped nights at Wynn. The weather was hot, but we have been to Vegas in the summer before so we expected it. Flight was slightly early and we had an early flight out of Chicago so we arrived around 9AM. Got the rental car and were able to check in with no problem. The Paris room was nice and we could just see a bit of the Bellagio fountains. We decided to have breakfast at the buffet, we have been there before and it is still great, my wife really loves the crepes. We played some various machines and games no big wins but a Ballys we both managed to get flushes at the Carib Poker table. For dinner we decided to try the II Mulino @ the forum shops. Absolutely fantastic! We're from Chicago so we have a number of really good Italian resturants here but this was outstanding. The service, attention to detail, and the food were all just great. Later Saturday night I walked across the street to play some $5 craps at Barbary Coast and managed to win about $500. Sunday we decided to try the Sterling Buffet one of Steve's recommendations. This was also very nice. It was in the steakhouse and there certainly was quite a variety of exception food dishes as well as a great assortment of really good deserts. Still not much luck at the tables although I am running slightly ahead on my sports bets. Sunday evening we saw "We will Rock You at Paris. If your a guest there they discount the tickets by $10. Very nice show, nice music and the singers were very good. Monday, last day @ Paris today we eat light, a crepe for breakfast and lunch at Commanders Palace with the 25cent martinis, yes that's right 25 cents for up to 4 martinis per person. Great lunch and drinks at a very reasonable price. I had the 1880 special which is an appetizer, entry, and desert for $18.80 along with a couple of 25 cent martini's and lunch was under $20. Still not having too much luck at the tables although I do manage to hit the crap table at Paris for $100.
Monday night we decided to go see the KA show. We haven't seen one of the circus shows in a while and it certainly was quite the production. The stage and theater alone are amazing and the show itself was quite good. We were sitting in the middle and quite frankly with this show there is no benefit of sitting up close, in fact it seems that you can see more of the show by sitting further back as there are things going on up above and to the sides that are easier to see if you are sitting further back. Tuesday we head for the Wynn. So far the two of us are probably down about $500. Although I have some luck on craps & sports bets we have been getting killed at Blackjack and the machines. Once again the check in goes without a hitch. The room is fantastic great view of the strip and the golf course. The plasma TV is neat and the bathroom is huge also with its own TV. One more thing, the bed is absolutely the most comfortable I have ever slept in. It has one of those pillow top mattresses and it is just great! You can really tell this is a Wynn property. The people, all of them are really very friendly and helpful. Everything is new and clean and it is really a pretty casino. We have been here before when it opened but this is the first time we are staying here. We are given $100 free play and have a good run on the $1 video poker machines. Robbie, my wife, wins $250. Maybe our luck is changing. One nice thing about the Wynn casino, all of the machines are new with nice big bright screens and they all are pay ticket machines which makes it easy to move from one machine to another without always cashing out and walking around with a bucket of coins. That night we ate at the steakhouse, very good! Later that evening while playing quarter video poker my wife hits a royal flush well now things are really looking up! She's now ahead for the trip and I'm only a few hundred down. Since we had the car we drove around a bit and visited the Green Valley Ranch, not much luck there we also went to the NYNY and a number of the other casinos along the strip but not much luck. Wednesday, we go over to the Venician and get killed at Caribean Poker, the dealer deals herself 4 of a kind! We have dinner at one of the Italian restaurants at Wynn very nice but not as nice as II Mulino. We decide to see the show Avenue Q at the Wynn, it was just opening and we thought we would give it a try. It's different, more of a broadway type show, somewhat funny but not exactly my cup of tea, well you gotta try new things. Had a nice afternoon at the poker room managed to lose only $34 in three hours. I did finally manage to hit a couple of good parley payouts on my sports bets and managed to win $150 on the blackjack table to allow me to end the week only about $300 down. Robbie came home the big winner up $500. All in all a very nice trip, the rooms were comped, we had some free play, excellent meals, nice shows, and managed to come home with a few bucks. Looking forward already to our next trip.

I love your report. Congrats on bringing home some $'s. Can you tell me where the "Commanders's Palace" is located? .25 cent margaritas! Is this a special or do they always charge that price? How big were the glasses? Thanks for sharing your report.

Wynn sounds incredible! Can't wait to see it in October. Is it still as crowded as it was in May?

Congratulations on your wins and playtime. It is so nice to hear people are winning and leave with extra $$$.

Hi Brandy, with regard to the location of Commander's Palace, it is in the Desert Passage Shops that are part of the Alladin Casino. They actually have an entrance just south of the main entrance for the Casino. The 25 cent special lunch is Mon - Thurs and these are martinis not margaritas. This is a special only for this lunch period. The glasses were normal size martini glasses. I hope you get a chance to try it out, even without the 25 cent special for the martinis the food is always excellent as well as the service.

Hi Fun-4-US, glad you liked the tirp report. No the Wynn wasn't nearly as crowded as it was in May. However we were there in late August which is typically the slow time for most of the casinos. This is no doubt why we got a room comp. It is more crowded like most of the casinos on the weekends and the table limits are higher as well. But during the week it is not really over crowded. Hope you have a good time.

We have not been to the Wynn, yet. It always looks so crowded around it. I heard it is hard to drive up and park. What is the best way to get to the casino if you are driving?

Being that my eyes are getting worse with age, and as was suggested a few other times, it makes for easier reading if the Trip Reports were put into paragraphs. I find the text very hard to follow if they're not.

There is also at "SIZE" option available that will make the text larger.

Bob, did you get your tickets to "Ka" before you arrived in Vegas? From your TR it sounded like it was a spur of the moment decision.

Thanks for the reminder about the CP martini lunch. I am looking forward to trying it in November. A chance to try some martini's I've never had (everyone raves about dirty martinis. For a quarter its worth a try!)

Beat the crowds, and come in to the WYNN closer to the Casino. Use the SOUTH Valet, just off the side street south of the Wynn complex between the current building and the new one under construction.
No hassle valet service, and you enter right in to the Casino area. :)

If you are coming from the south after you cross Spring Mountain Road stay in the 2nd lane from the right. The right hand lane becomes a right turn only lane that takes you into the front of the hotel for valet & registration. This lane is the lane to be in if you want to valet park. If you want to park your own car stay in the 2nd lane until you pass the casino entrance. Now you will need to turn right at the next driveway which is the entrance to the self parking garage. The self parking garage is nice because as you drive up the ramp leading to the various garage entrances there is a sign over the entrance that tells you how many empty spaces are available at that level. Once you park, if your not on the casino level you just take the elevator to the casino level.

Hi Kestral, yes we went to the MGM box office in the main lobby at the hotel and got the tickets for the same day we saw the show. Again, we went at a relatively slow time ( end of Aug.) and it might be more difficult in November when things are a bit more crowded but since this show has been around for awhile it might be OK.

Thanks for the trip report. Glad you came home with money -- that hasn't happened to me yet! :) I can't wait to see the Wynn Casino.
