 Seems like some of you guys really don't like Harrahs comp system. Where in Vegas then is best for comps? (Besides IP which we really don't like). We like to have comps that we can use in several different places and different areas of the country. We go the boats in Shreveport-Bossier City,Tunica, and New Orleans as well as other cities and Harrahs lets us use our points for food, rooms, shows, etc. in those casinos as well as Las Vegas. So their system serves us well. But we have over $800 in points built up right now with them and don't want to lose that. Maybe we better make a point of using it up and playing somewhere else our next trip. But where?

We have cards at Caesars, MGM-Mirage, One Card, and Hilton. They haven't been very lucrative for us but maybe we just haven't played enough to get much. Paris & Ballys(Caesars card) have been kindest. We don' play just for comps, but we like getting free rooms, etc.

Use your comps. Comps are are not a bank, Comps are a bonus, take the bonus. Play to win. Comp programs can change with no notice to anyone. If you want to carry a little balance go ahead but if they are taken away don't cry foul. Example I have 16 free buffets coming, well they raised the price of the buffet now I have 14 free buffets coming. How about this example. River boat in Il. had a deal where you could use your comp points towards free nights in certain hotels in Vegas. I was just short of 2 free nights at M Bay, as I head in to play I check the totals at the slot desk, then I ask how many points to stay at M Bay , sorry we don't offer that program any more, effective 2 days ago. What do i have 14 buffets. Sorry I didn't answer your question as to what program to use, hang in there you will get a better answer.

We have found over the last couple of years the Caesars Connection Card was much easier to accumulate comps. It seemed like we were accumulating money back and Comp $$ separately and for us were much more generous than the Harrahs Total Reward. We have almost $800 in comp $$. at Caesar properties from our play mostly in Atlantic City as we are from PA.

We will be using Comp $$ up on our next Vegas trip in two weeks at Caesars Palace, Bally's and want to see We Will Rock You at Paris. Would like to save some to come back to AC after our Vegas trip. The room comps were always separate from the food comp $$$ with the Connection Card.

I know when we first started going to Harrahs, they took the room reservation out of your Comp $$. So when we reserved a room at Harrahs AC, we thought we had enough Comp $$s for dinner there for 2 either in the coffee shop or the Buffet ( not a gourmet restaurant), and didn't. Looks like that changed now. However for us the Total Rewards system seems very stingy in the food comp area. Maybe we just got more play on the Caesar/Bally slots that at Harrahs for the last year or two.

Initially we liked Harrahs AC about four years ago went there on a recommendation. Won $1600 there on quarters the first time there. Won little amounts after that. Then $1700 jackpot on their Double Dolphin inhouse quarter progressive. Nothing for two years. Nice place. Nice people. Gambling not fun. Same thing in Vegas, enjoyed playing and staying (with comps) at the Rio. Nice restaurants, very nice people, great rooms there, but gambling not fun for the last two years. :(

We have been enjoying Caesars Connection Card and the One Card especially at the Monte Carlo. Never could win at Mandalay Bay. Even Excaliber didn't seem to pay for us. So we stay and play where we have fun. This is what has been working for us over the past couple of years.

Now with Harrahs taking over Caesars properties, we will be using our Connection Card $$$$$ in Vegas and hope we don't lose, the rest of it, as it doesn't come that easy at Harrahs, FOR US. We don't know if Harrahs can pull in the comps on Casears Connection Card yet or is that coming? Can anyone answer that? What we have noticed is the machines have tightened up in AC at Harrahs, Showboat and now Caesars properties. In Vegas, we have not been able to get any play time on the slots at the Rio or at Harrahs.

In AC there are still the 3 Trump casinos, and the Trop, Boyd/MGM Borgata, and Resorts who now owns the Hilton in AC and the Las Vegas Hilton. We're not high rollers, but enjoy playing the slots because we have won on them in the past. We will try somewhere else to see if the slots are looser and more fun.

If it becomes increasingly harder to get anything anywhere, we will keep our money and be winners at the end of the year.

Good Luck on your future trips.
