WYNN: Well this was a big disappointment for me! :( The others who stayed will have to report on their experience as for me what a disappointment. First at registration we had a problem over the deposit they wanted to put on my credit card and the final word was that I could only stay one night!! Well, most people probably would have gotten up and left period – yes I could have done this also as I am sure Bally’s would have comp me no problem! But I really wanted to see what all the hoop-pa-lot is all about with how great WYNN is suppose to be so I accepted the one night. They told me for my trouble they would also give me an UPGRADE – well folks I don’t know about you but the upgrade was a joke. Actually there was no upgrade that I could tell unless being on the 52 or 54 fl is an upgrade. I had a view of Golf Course, which was nice although I was surprise that the waterfall is not that big – some how I thought it was much bigger unless there is another water fall. Now I walk into room I couldn’t believe my eyes – this was a standard room you find in any of the hotels. In fact RIO is bigger. There was a bed, couch, chair and desk no biggee that was it – the flat screen TV in fact was on the wall so there was no way to sit in bed and watch TV if you wanted to which I thought was strange – you would have to sit on the couch. As for bathroom yes the toilet was in a little separate room but the shower, tub and chair under the table (suppose to be a makeup area) all in one room. At Caesars your toilet is in one room, tub & shower in another room and the room in between has a full size make-up area for you. As you can tell Caesar’s and I would imagine Bellegio (although I have not stayed at Bellegio yet) is way better than WYNN! So that was the room at WYNN!!! Buffet was not a unique situation either in fact both my Buffets were comped and I would not pay $33 for that Buffet!! It is no different than any one else’s. If you want an incredible Buffet go to either RIO, Bellegio or the Sterling Brunch at Bally’s they are all expensive but incredible and very unusual Buffets.

BALLY’S: ;) Bally’s has always treated me incredibly well. They cannot do enough for you!! Check in at Diamond Registration went without a hitch no problem! Room was great and pretty much the same as WYNN! The TV however, was across from the bed so you can watch TV if want. The VIDEO POKER Tournament was incredible!! I have heard that Bally’s has the very best Tournaments – well, I am here to say that is very true – WOW!! During registration they kept the drinks coming anything you wanted and very organized. Than they fed us incredible food from Italian to Chicken Kabobs to these little Mexican - I don’t know what they were called but they were delicious – to beef sandwiches, cheese, crackers & everything else you could think of – and oh yes the Deserts!! Well I am standing there and they bring out two trays of CHOCOLATE – now I am not big on chocolate person but let me tell ya I became a CHOCO-HOLIC oh yeah unbelievable – I mention to the lady WOW look at the chocolate – she said to me well we have to keep you HAPPY!! I said HAPPY we’ll be bouncing off the walls and we both laughed!! It was incredible!!!!
1st day of Tournament they had a Brunch for us so we all decided that if we didn’t win any money – at least Bally’s kept us fed very well!! At the Awards Banquet we had STEAK & LOBSTER now tell me what awards banquet can you go to that you get steak and lobster and oh yeah the desert I took a picture before I snarfed it down WOW!! They gave money for places 1 through 400 I got $50 as my total was close to the end # for the cut off. But considering this is my first VP tournament I can’t complaint that is for sure!! It was very different from your Slot Tournaments and I really look forward to many many more. If you like Video Poker go and do the Tournaments they are a blast!!

GAMING: Yes it was incredible also. At WYNN I did hit a Triple Play VP machine three times for $300 plus each time – if WYNN finds this machine they will probably take it out. A lady hit on the machine before me on 4aces and kicker not only once but twice and that is a hand-pay -- what a machine. I hit on a couple other machines – little amounts. BALLY’s hit on Tiki Torch 3 times over $200+ each, Crystal Tens machine, and Triple Play VP machine twice for over $300+ also hit on several other machines did extremely well at Bally’s! IMPERIAL PALACE: I got to go there for first time and hit the Wheel of Fortune Big Wheel 3 times for $100+ each time walk away with $400+ that was crazy!! Unbelievable – I have played this machine at many other Casinos and have done very well but not that good. Also Steve and all I found out Harrah’s does not owned Imperial Palace – I gather it is not being blown up next year as was told me before. I understand that Harrah’s is going enlarged their property and make a Resort out of it – I know they own the land behind Imperial Palace but apparently not Imperial Palace. How I found out is I tried to use my Harrah’s card in the slots – well didn’t work so I talk to Guest Relations and that is what I was told. They have a promotion going right now to sign up for their Slot Card and get $850 in coupons. Like a dummy I didn’t sign up but I will my next trip in December. RIO and HARRAH’s I didn’t really hit very much. I hit on the Tiki Torch at Harrah’s I usually do but their $5 High limit was a bummer. I usually do very well there -- oh well next time. At RIO I hit on a Triple Play VP for about $150+ nothing really big there either. And last but not least BELLEGIO: Now you ask why Bellegio well I love the Conservatory and it was incredible – all about TRAINS!! I took lots of pictures. As for GAMMING I found several Triple Play VP very good and a $1 Bonus Frenzy walk out with $300+, which for Bellegio is very unusual – I usually don’t win anything.

SHOWS: No shows, George Wallace was dark, also Penn & Teller did not have shows Monday and Tuesday, Barry Manilow as you know had hip surgery so this time I did not do any shows.

The weather was absolutely glorious – and for Las Vegas that is unusual. I would say probably high 80’s to low 90’s -- only remember one day were you walked outside and the heat kind of hit you in the face. But for me who has a hard time handling heat – it was glorious.

So I hope you all enjoy my Trip Report it was a great Birthday present too me from me!! Oh also meeting our members was an absolute blast!!!! We met at WYNN, played the $1 Wheel of Fortune got it up to $197 and yeah you guessed it – it ate it up but we laughed and had a blast. The only thing I hope next member meet that we go for a drink that would have been great. I really enjoyed meeting all of you!!! Special thanks to Treasurerat for organizing this meeting – thank you!!!! UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!

Yes I agree that I was somewhat disappointed in the room at the Wynn also. I guess that unless you're a high roller and get a suite the "resort" room is quite basic. As far as the TV, it can be turned to face the bed. I didn't realize it myself until my brother-in-law came up to see our room that there's like a "handle" to turn the screen to face the bed.

Hubby & I had a great time meeting with you all too! Wish we could have hit a big one with our "pool" but it was fun while it lasted!!

Hi Beach, Enjoyed your TR. Sounds like you had a really good time (& some luck) at the VP tournament. You share the same birthday with our younger son & he was lucky the only time he went with us to Vegas.

Well, we could pay our way at the Wynn but why would we want to with offers from others up and down the Strip? Their comp requirements are to recycle $30,000/day as VP players. That just doesn’t fit our Vegas formula. Sorry to read it didn’t work for you either but I doubt that either of us is going to worry about it. Oh well. We’re glad that Bally’s works so well for you and to read of their fine service. Their VP tourney sounded GREAT! Steak and lobster always works! LOL Glad you had such a good time and had some luck. The Bellagio Conservatory is one of those special Vegas treats. We’ve known Treasurerat for some time, he is a very nice fellow isn’t he? Thank you for your TR, good luck!

Very nice trip report! I'm glad that I am not the only one who doesn't find Wynn that great. Just don't care for anything about it. Sounds like you had some nice wins too. Thanks for sharing your trip, enjoyed reading about it.

Beach, I think the Wynn room is nicer than the Bellagio room by far. Don't get me wrong, a lakeview at Bellagio is awesome, however we were on the 52 floor at Wynn on the corner about 8 floors below the W in Wynn with a view looking down the strip in both directions and the wall of windows made the room awesome!! I guess it depends on what you are looking for. For us, it was a large relaxing room with a view and we got just that. Wynn Rooms are much larger than Bellagio Rooms though I found the bathrooms to be quite similiar. To each his own, I guess.
As for the rest of your report, sounds like you had a great time!!

Chump, Wynn is looking for about 1/3 more in play than Bellagio is for casino rate. Wynn is looking for 700 points a day which is 2100 in slots and $5400 in VP through the machines (not sure what comp rate is) and Bellagio is looking for 1200 points a day or $1800 through the machines on slots and 3600 in VP. However, Bellagio doesn't have full machines at the quarter and dollar level that I could find, and Wynn does.
Bellagio $1.50 per point in slots, $3 per point on VP
Wynn- $3 per point on Slots, $9 per point on VP.
I think Wynn is 3800 points a day for RFB. No idea what Bellagio is, but I know it is more than that.

Ann,
We waited in great anticipation and excitement for Steve Wynn to open his new resort. Along the way, early on, we were struck by the rudeness of his remarks such as, his new resort would make the Bellagio look like a Motel 6. We often stayed at TI during this construction and as we saw his tower rise up over a period of months. We quickly concluded that the Wynn looked a corporate office tower as opposed to a Vegas Strip resort. Wynn’s bluster continued on and on and we have withdrawn further from him. By the time the ugly Mountain took shape and we looked at the introverted and limited curb appeal of this new resort, we were utterly turned off to it and didn’t care if we ever saw its interior. The Today Show arrived for the grand opening and then pictures by the thousands followed. Now, we look at a most unique decor that people either like or don’t. The lack of bartops and the subsequent hassling of customers over free drinks at the few bartops that are offered along with the ridiculous comp requirements here have turned us off permanently to this resort. Our Wynn experience was over before it began.

The Bellagio room has 550sq ft. The Wynn room has 640 sq ft. The Vegas average is probably 400 sq ft. You had a corner room which is always somewhat larger in any resort. The floor to ceiling windows added to the feeling of spaciousness of your accommodation but by the time the Palazzo is built and Wynn’s condos replace his golf course, there will be nothing to look at. The difference between the two is more a matter of taste in the decorating. I think you are right on about the casino rate requirement and the weekday CR at Bellagio is $139/night and the Wynn is $159-$179/night. Wynn has but four full pay quarter VP machines in his casino. Wynn does in fact require a VP player to recycle $30,000/day for a standard room comp while Bellagio requires but $19,500. RFL is typically twice that basic comp requirement while RFB is three times. Yes, Wynn is looking for $90,000/day to be recycled daily in his VP for RFB. We haven’t paid anything for a room in a long time and are not willing to do so now! LOL We are happy for you that you enjoyed the Wynn. Good Luck, Best Wishes!

I am glad for the comments WOW it is interesting the Sq Footage of these rooms. I will tell you in the NEW Caesar's Tower my mind leaves me right now as to it's name - getting old I guess - ha ha - my room was huge. It was definitely bigger than Wynn and it too had the floor to ceiling look. My second room in this tower was the view of the Bellegio Fountains and that was awesome. At Caesar's they could not do enough for you including a tour of the place to start off with -- I never received good customer service at Wynn. Caesar's whole look is incredible from the statue type lamps to their color sceme there is just nothing they leave out and the bathroom is way bigger than Wynn. As I said I can't compare to Bellegio I have not stayed their yet but believe me Caesar's has it way over Wynn. It is just awesome. Thanks to all of you for your comments. My Birthday was special thanks to my Bally's!

Thanks for taking the time to explain all this. We felt we were treated wonderfully at Wynn, but then we are treated wonderfully at Bellagio. We enjoy both hotels, as I said the nod goes to Wynn on the Room, however my favorite spot in Vegas is the Fontana Bar for VP, the pay tables are not full pay but the service is top notch. I guess because we never gamble enough to be fully comped, I don't think much about them. We pay and I guess in the long run, it saves me money LOL
I personally prefer the decor at Wynn over Bellagio, but that is personal taste, the brown walls and ecru linens are a beautiful combination. In planning our next trip, which hopefully will be in December, I am leaning towards Bellagio as it is a three day trip and I am so comfortable there.
As for the Wynn bartops, I wasn't hassled over drinks at all. They did have someone coming around asking you to sign the comp slip, but the bartenders didn't question my speed or my play and their $1 machines are full pay on the bar, unlike at Bellagio (yet somehow I managed to win more at Bellagio anyway!)
As I said we always pay for our rooms in Las Vegas so, the comp factor doesn't enter in for us. We considered Caesar's but they have one bar that has VP on it, and the paytables (which used to be full pay) are now 7/5 jacks or better!! I play VP when my husband goes to bed for an hour or two and I like to do at a bar as I feel safer........Can't do that at Caesar's. The sad part is, when we were there a few weeks ago, the bartop was FULL!!

I think your third sentence is the clue to your dissatisfaction with Wynn. We stayed there 7/16-7/18 and found it to be absolutely wonderful. The rooms are beautiful without being overdone, an ode to good taste. I tallied up what the bedding would cost ( you can purchase everything that is in the room at a boutique downstairs) and it was over $3500.00. Some people don't care about things like thread count etc., but that is what separates the everyday life from the life of luxury. We found the room to be the most quiet of any we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in all of the higher end hotels. The staff was very friendly, the servers were very attentive, and we definitely found it to be a wonderful resort. Can't wait to go back.

Except for your night at Wynn, at least you had a good birthday treat!

Someday I want to stay at Wynn for curiousity, but my home away from home is Bellagio.

Hi Beach3993, so glad you returned to Wynn for our small get-together on the 5th. If you remember, we had just checked-in for our first stay at Wynn Las Vegas. We requested and received a golf course view which was lovely. We've stayed many times at the Bellagio and although Wynn had a few amenities not offered by Bellagio (terry slippers to take home - small tv in the bathroom), overall I'd say the Bellagio is our favorite hotel in Las Vegas. We always feel as if we've come home when we arrive, and like AnnPedi, nothing beats sitting at the Fontana Bar playing video poker and chatting with Diane, the nicest bartender in Las Vegas.

Yeah now I did not play at the Fontana Bar I played at the machines in front of it I believe if I remember - get'n ole ha ha and hit on those VP machines and I also hit on another VP machines close to an isle - the VP machines were really good at Bellegio I was surprised. I want next time to try the bar top ones at the Fontana lounge. As for Caesar's I hit at a VP machine $477 it was close to Pure I think I have to go in to find it again. Caesar's is by far my favorite in terms of luxury - but I again I have not stayed at Bellegio I have to be sure to get a card next time someone slap my hands also IP too.
It was great getting together - hope we can do it again!!

Glad to hear about the good experience at Bally's. I can't think of a nicer place to stay in Vegas for the prices they charge. Sure, I bet the Bellagio or Venetian are great, but for a nice low-key, relaxed feel, Bally's is it for me.

I hope they feed people just as well for the Monday Night Football Texas Hold 'Em tournaments as they do the video poker tourney.

Happy Birthday! Sorry about the problem at the Wynn but sounds like you had a fun time anyway. I love to stay at Bally's and I also like Tiki Torch. I have also had some good wins on that game. Thanks for the report!

I pretty much agree with you on your opinion of Wynn & Bally's. Two weeks ago we stayed at Wynn for 2 nights. I thought the room was very nice but the buffets were average and very overpriced.
We've stayed at Bally's before and we usually do well there. We feel comfortable there and you can buy 2 sodas and a chocolate chip cookie for less than $13.00. That's what I paid at Wynn. Our next trip will be for 3 nights at Bally's.
