Trip Report -- Sept 4-10
Day 1 - depart Philadelphia Americawest 8:15PM, arrive Las Vegas almost an
hour early -- good sign. collect luggage, car (National via Priceline $130
for a fullsize 2006 Impala 1600 miles on the clock - another good sign). Go
to Hilton so sister-in-law and her husband can check-in ($45 POV coupon).
While waiting I mosey into SpaceQuest casino. Since I don't know
AllAmerican I play Dueces for a quarter(no I didn't check the schedule).
Play a few hands and hit 4 dueces - $250 hand pay - another good sign.
Collect in-laws and head to Ellis Island to eat. Return in-laws to Hilton
and check-in at Sams Town - mail offer 3 nights and 2 buffets on them. 7th
floor Atrium View. Do not tempt fates plus my body is still on Eastern time
- go to bed.
Day 2 - since my body is on Eastern Time and my wife sleeps more than our
cats I am usually up early. So I shave, dress and go down to get coffee and
play video poker. Coffee is good with free refill -- video poker is a wash.
awaken my sweetie with buns and hot chocolate. Since in-laws are are
spending the morning at a time-share presentation(free tickets to two
shows)(Remarkably low pressure) and Sams TOwn is giving 6x points on Labor
Day we spend most of the day in the casino. Still a wash. that evening we
round-up inlaws and head over to Gold Coast for Ballroom Dancing(we are bad
but enjoy). Dinner at Ping Pang Pong (Walnut Prawns!!!). then some video
poker. I wind up about $500 ahead, plus two Silver strikes. Back to Sams
Town more 6x points and eventually to bed.
Day 3 - usual coffee routine. Wake up wife when it's safe, more gaming and
drag her down to pool. In-laws arrive and check-n at Sams Town (best rate
for final four days). Tonite is shows . Theirs is tribute at Greek Isles
including dinner at Yanni's(free from time share). Ours is Scintas (2 for 1
with coupon ACG or POV?). Stop at Caesars for dinner . Marylou at club
booth recommends Nero's. Good choice - Cateaubriand for two - perfect,
Great BREAD -- paid for with comps. THANK YOU MARYLOU. Scintas show is
terrific. fast paced, funny and touching. they are very personnable. Stop
in casino but never have luck here. Get ahead on machines with car prize
and get out. Back to Caesars - no luck there. pick up in-laws and head back
to Sams - hungry - pull into Barbary Coast. Victorian Room is one of our
favorites. use Coast comps for food for all. Finally to bed.
Day 4 - the usual coffee in the park and AM Video poker. Out early lunch
then girls go shopping and boys roam. Lunch at Crown & Anchor British Pub.
No go. Place is overflowing -- two big football(soccer) matches and every
Btit, Irish etc in valley is there. Plan B - Hofbrauhaus (POV coupon and
Delta Miles) excellent sausage & beer. even my wife enjoyed it. Server
"MAYA" tall & pregnant & very good, very nice. Visit Leonards for wifes
shoes -- they specialize in wides, she has short but wide feet! Drop off
girls on strip at Forum Shops. Clive & I go looking for adventure. Visit
Speedway. On way back see Cannery casino and drop in. I break even thanks
to a ACG 50 coin bonus coupon and a quad of Aces in Bonus poker. He gets a
little ahead thanks to new Andre Agassi machine and we both get free denim
jackets with 500 points - September Promo. Wander back into town - free
drinks at Barbary Coast Bar. see Big Elvis. Pick up girls -- small bags
with expensive stuff. To the Palms. Dinner at Gardunos - $101 less $50 off
with POV coupon is a deal. Excellent Mexican -- servings are large. hang
there for a while (3x points with POV Coupon) finally to bed. 2nd losing
day overall - depressed.
Day 5 - the usual AM. Break even for a change. Swim, then gather up clan
for a trip to Valley of Fire. After some misadventures, finally arrive but
we can only eat picnic lunch and head back. in-laws have a show -Platters,
Coasters & Drifters -- free again. We meet up with them after on Fremont
street. See light show, stop at Golden Gate for Shrimp cocktail, win
several Silver strikes at plaze, wife taps quarter Jeopardy at Golden
Nugget for $500 (if only I could get her away from penny and nickel
machines)(I did win $40 on a Leprecans Gold - go figure). WE are ahead for
the Day.
Day 6 - last full day. Usual start - lose several $100 before I hit four
Dueces on a Loose Dueces - $625. That helps!!! Quiet day. they go to
Legends at Imperial Palace and we do Haunted Vegas Tour from Greek Isles --
both won from Vegas du Soleil news letter --check it out. After being
unable to checkin for flight online(original flight was cancelled and we
were put on another that was overbooked and thus no guaranteed seats). I
wandered around Sams Town and managed to collect another quad 2's on Loose
Dueces. this meant that we were firmly ahead for the trip, a very good
thing. Went to bed.
Day 7 - the usual, broke even, packed, host gave us two more free days and
comps paid for last day, checked out, went to airport & got seats (thats a
relief)checked bags and headed back to Sams Town for Free Lunch Buffet.
Then flight home. Airport security is a breeze, see Northern LIghts on
flight home.
All-in-all a good trip. up about $500 and gambled enough to keep offers coming.
