Trip report 8/5- 8/8
Three nights at the Golden Nugget.
No problems with the flights out of Boston. I got lost in the Denver
airport and almost missed my connection.
Check in at the Nugget was fast for a Friday afternoon.
One thing the Nugget changed was the music. I liked the standards and
big band stuff they had last year and now they sound like every other
casino.
Also at every turn there seemed to be folks selling time-shares. They
didnt ask me becasue I was single but they were quite obnoxious with
other folks.
Met some friends at the Hilton who were going to see Manilow. The rest
of us walked to the Strat and saw the observation deck. What a view of
the valley!!!
I did pretty well playing slots was ahead of the game for awhile but got
greedy the last day and gave it back but it was worth the shot.
The slots at the Riviera were pretty loose.
We ate dinner at the Peppermill on Saturday. The price and amount of
food was decent.
The lounge was really nice, we had a few drinks and I loved the
waitresses in their long black dresses they were quite lovely.
At the Main Street Brew Pub on Sunday night and we hung out and watched
the light show and people watched.
Spent way too much money on cabs, it was just too hot to wait for the
bus.
I still love the Nugget, seemed like a much younger crowd this year. Was
amazed at how many little kids were there.
Travel hell on the way back. In Denver there were mechnical problems and
I ended up sitting in the terminal for 3 hours.
All in all a fun trip. Probably could enver live there but cant wait to
get back.
