Day 1
Took Jet Blue 7am flight from JFK and arrived in 110 degree Vegas raring
to go. Selected Harrah's because of its location and free rooms. As a
Diamond carder in Atlantic City, usually get upgraded but received no
special treatment. Didn't even get the advanced requested Madi Gras
strip view (its true Carnival Court music blares until 2AM!!!!) and the
Diamond Lounge is downright insulting. Fortunately we used our reward
credits and ate like pigs for free. Played some horrid VP at Harrah's
and wanted to check out Casino Royale. Made a wrong turn and ended up
at IP! Spun the wheel outside and won a t-shirt. Signed up for card
and threw $10 in a nickle DW machine and got my first ever legit Royal
Flush. Had dinner at Harrah's Fresh Market Buffet and went to Paris to
see We Will Rock You. Thanks to this newsletter I got the
goldstarevents half-priced tickets was 25ft from stage and this show
blew me away! Even my 18 yr old "don't want to see dumb show and I'll
hate anything you like" went crazy over it! Ran to gift shop and got
the CD (get the Queen Greatest Hits not the show soundtrack because its
the London cast and really bad).
Day 2
Met up with family in from Calif and did tourist things. Mirage White
tiger was up and about and adorable. Ceasar's Forum Shops nice but
those moving statues were disappointing. Went to Harrah's Carnival
Court to listen to the band that robbed my sleep the night before. The
sauna-like weather really drained us and didn't have the energy to check
out the great video poker at Palms or Sam's Town. Stuck with sucky
Harrah's video poker was doing okay with a DBDW multistrike but left to
sightsee with daughter. Husband told me that someone sat down and
soonafter got 4 Duces on top line....I'm still not talking to him.
Day 3
Got a 7:30 am ride to Downtown and hit Freemont Street. Prefer it to
the strip. Did the GN $10 free play (won nada) and broke even on 10/7
DB near buffet. Tried the only Loose Dueces (17/10) machine at
Fitzgeralds and it didn't live up to its name. Back to the strip
dragged daughter to get free souvenior photo at IP and sneaked her in
while I tried the penny slots (Star Wars) won $24! Would never be
caught dead playing them in AC but what happens in Vegas, stays in
Vegas...Celebrated mom's 86th birthday at Paris Buffet. She got my
never gamble sister to try penny slots (she won but is not a convert)
saw the Bellagio Fountains and walked back in the rain to Harrah's
Day 4
Mom complained that everyone was winning something on penny slots but
not her. She put her last $5 in and hit for $200! With family gone we
finished up our own agenda. Went to Wax Museum and hammed it for the
camera. The interaction is the best part. Yeah, a little overpriced
even with $4 off but fun (think how much you put in a slot machine with
no lasting memories to walk away with). Visited the elegant and much
attention to detail Wynn casino. Gambling-wise my bankroll was only
depleted by $200 after four full days, which I don't think is bad. Left
11:00pm to catch 1:40am red eye to be told that we missed the flight! I
made an error and put wrong date (after midnight its the next day) Jet
Blue angel got us standby and then confirmed us to get the last 3 seats
on the plane.
Thanks Steve (and Eileen) for this great newsletter, it is so
appreciated. Big Thanks to the members who responded to my inquiries -
you are so wonderful and helpful about sharing tips and information. It
may be awhile before we go back and would enjoy our Atlantic City visits
if they had decent DW (maybe the penny slots are not so bad after
all....)
