Hi Steve:
we just returned from Las Vegas yesterday and had a great time:
We started Sunday out in Omaha flying Southwest and everything went smoothly. We landed in Vegas about 20 min late due to the flight coming in from Chicago late, but the pilot made really good time, I think we would have been over 30 minutes late according to schedule, anyhow caught at taxi to Sam's Town, where we have had comped rooms for the past year. Always great to stay there, great atmosphere, friendly service and various slots and table games to fit anyones needs.
After reading Eileens triple stars results,on Monday, I went to find that machine and found a $5 machine, well ,after the third spin..125 credits!($625), so thanks Eileen for the great tip..I had not played that machine before, but now I have a new machine my wife and I both like! I then proceeded to my video Keno machines(they still have the good ones-Gamemakers, hate the GameKing) and with luck still being on my side, hit 5 of 5 with 4 bet for $800!..Thank you Sam's Town!..
On Monday afternoon, my wife and I went out to the strip and started at the Flamingo Hilton where we played the Elvis Game(the jackpot hasn't gone in sometime, so I figured it could be due) and ended up walking away with over $400 from that. We then walked over to NYNY and found my favorite keno machines again....well as luck had it..5 of 5 another $800...but we had to wait a while as there wasn't an attendant around, so I had to finally go and find one so I could get paid!..but the cocktail service was great!..lol..anyhow we then walked back over to MGM and took the monorail over to the Hilton..we love the monorail..one of the good things Vegas has done recently, didn't have any luck at the Hilton, but we did try their buffet, as you suggested and we liked it, food and service were good. We then walked up to the Riveria and totally busted there, and then it a few more places along the strip with no luck, so Monday ended up a good day despite my afternoon and evening losses.
Tues: My wife loves the Luxor Spa, so she scheduled her spa treatment for the morning, so ended up taking a taxi to the Luxor as the shuttles don't run until 10:30am..so while she relaxed and was massaged, I walked a few of the casinos nearby(Luxor, MGM, Excalibur) and then met her at NYNY where we again played my keno machine and she played her Let It Ride..both with no success!..we then proceeded to the monorail to head down to Mirage to try the new eating experience, Cravings..it was wonderful.. it catered to all tastes and had a large variety of choices, my wife has always counted Aladdins Spice Market Buffet as No. 1, but I think this is now ranking right up there and for about the same price. Needless to say we did not walk away hungry or dissatisfied!. My wife went over to the Guggenheim Exhibit at the Venetian while I played at TI..she enjoyed her experience, while I lost more money, but had good cocktail service once again.
Wed: time to leave. the one negative thing about Sam's Town, since it is so far out there the taxis don't wait around for passengers, instead they have to be called by the valet..well, Sams Town Valet are now voted the WORST in my book, they said they would call a taxi for us to get us to the airport on time, but it never came, so we ended up taking the shuttle out to the strip and catching a taxi from a Strip hotel..and lost vaulable time..there was another couple waiting for a taxi and they were just headed up Boulder Highway, and they were still waiting when we left. So in recap: Good things: Sams' Town gambling, cocktail service and Fresh Market Cafe(great prime rib for $6.95)..Negative: Valet/Taxi Service
Good things: Cravings Buffet; Monorail; Great cocktail service at MGM; Flamingo; and TI. Look forward to our next trip out to Las Vegas
