Las Vegas 3/6/05-3/11/05

Stayed at the Rio because we received an unbelievable deal for the Sunday Thru Thursday. Averaged $52.00 including tax per night for a suite. Can't beat that. We would have never stayed there again because they don't care about $10 bettors at the tables if you can even find any? Never expect any comps playing table games for $10 or quarter slots from Harrah's. But for the price we paid for the room we figured we have already been comped.
Suite located in Masquerade Tower, older but still very nice. No coffee makers in room. When I called up and requested one, there were none available unless you are a Diamond Harrah's club member. We are only Gold, so that meant no coffee in our room. View wasn't that good either but what can you do?
Great room horrible casino. No full pay VP machines anywhere and I spent a lot of time looking. Slots very tight and table limits very high for week nights. Needless to say, we did not spend a lot of time there gambling. Went to Gold Coast next door, lots of full pay VP and always $5 tables available. Slots a little tight there too.
Palms had very few full pay VP and table limits were lower than the Rio. The Gold Coast is a very nice casino but no LET IT RIDE there. Ate at the Gold Coast coffee shop a couple of times and it's always good there and great value!
Had very good Sushi at the Rio and ate at Buzzio's one night for dinner and it was very good! Very good value as well for what you got.
We rented a car this trip and drove out to Bonnie Springs, Old Las Vegas. Nice scenery but had to sit through a very corny lame show there. Not worth the trip to go there though the drive to get there was very nice.
Saw the following shows:
3/6- Scintas at the Rio. My wife liked it better than me. Very much a family show, good for the kids. I was bored.
3/7- Zumanity at NY/NY. Spent $125.00 for duo couch on side of stage. The best right? Not even close. Do not sit anywhere near that stage, we had limited visibility and had to deal with a couple of actors going through the audience. We both were undecided if we liked it or hated it? I wouldn't recommend it that's for sure.
3/8- Justin Tranz at the Sahara. We really liked this show. The tickets included a free buffet and we were prepared for the usual Sahara lame buffet but it was OK, especially when you don't have to pay for it. Sign up for the slot club at the Sahara and get a buy one get one free for this show and $10.00 in slots credits. Excellent deal. Justin Tranz is a very funny and good show.
3/9- Celine Dion at Caesars. Sat in second mezzanine due to cost of show. Seats are OK up there. Good visibility and sound was excellent. What can I say, She's Celine. Very good show and very entertaining, this coming from a non fan but the wife loves her. She is a must see.

We took a helicopter tour of Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and landed inside the Grand Canyon for a picnic lunch. Booked through Look tours and we used Sundance Helicopter. Excellent time and great pilot, Dave. Yes, it was a lot of $ but it's a once in a lifetime trip. We both loved it.

We hopefully will be back in October, not sure where we will be staying but will give everyone a report when we get back. I read all the reports posted and find them very helpful in deciding where to go or not to go. I hope our report helps everyone as well.
