i love fremont! i cant get enough of the fun at night! if your going to vegas soon and you hit fremont theres 2 things you gotta see! theres a world class sax player near the fitzgeralds that you have to find! if youve seen him recently please tell me what you thought. next as you head toward the plaza on the left side is LA BAYOU. its a little hole in the wall slot joint with festive new orleans type decor. but in back is 40 different kinds of daquires. for $7 you can get a 1 yard drink that will put you in a coma before your done. guys can spend the same amount for a football shaped mug.very cool. if youve done this tell me how it was! :D im going next month. i cant wait!

For an extra dollar they will add a shot of 151 proof rum to some of the daquiris in the yard glass. That will really put you under....

Those daquiris are great.

His name is Carl Ferris...and I think I am probably his #1 fan..I know sounds childish, but I REALLY like his music.
I was gonna post the link to a thread I posted in last night about Freemont Street, but I went there and saw that you had posted in it too.
Was there last month, they have a new laser light show down there that he is "featured" in...watch for it on the canopy.

We always like to check out the guy that spray paints pictures. Some of them are really neat.

You'd like NY then. Lots of spray painted "art work" here :)

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but I just read an article in Gaming Today saying that Fremont Street will undergo some major changes in the future and dismantling the F.S.E. is a distinct possibility.

That would be very sad. FSE is one of my favorite things to do and see. I know that they are disappointed that it doesn't add revenue but neither does the fountains at Bellagio or volcano at Mirage.

At The Bayou, there's also some Jackpot Party quarter machines on the right side when you first walk in that have incredibly great payoffs. Every trip I head down there and have always walked out with more money than I left with....even after all those free drinks they give you. When you enter they give you Mardi Gras beads and since I've never gotten beads from anywhere else but The Bayou, I guess the dozens hanging from my headboard on my bed must all be from there!! Good grief.

anyone else partake of those massages, no not the other ones, the ones on fremont, fully clothed?

Have to go downtown and have a burger at Bionons. Was so happy last trip to find that the snack bar for the chili and burgers is back.
Downtown is great. Love it on weekends when they have a bands and all the street vendors are there. It is just so festive.

I like Mermaids, loud but fun. I played on Jackpot Party for over an hour there. Felt bad for the women wearing those outfits in the middle of a hot day.

A cab drvier told me that the 7Eleven was sold to make way for a bar of some kind.

I love the Golden Nugget.

This is terrible
I love going down there to see the FSE while having a coffee at Starbucks, then head down for the shrimp at GG. I think it would kill the traffic downtown gets, unless they can come up with something better (which I don't think they can). Plus they just spent a ton of money on improvements.
Also thanks for the tip on the drinks, will be sure to get one. Yummmy.

We are downtown people and love everything about it! I hope they rethink thier idea to take down FSE. It adds to the downtown charm.

The F S E must be costing the casinos alot to keep up it would take lots of quarters to pay it off! I like it but cost wise? They don't get it back from me I always went there anyway?

All I know is that there's nothing like walking hammered down FSE . . . .

LA BAYOU. its a little hole in the wall slot joint with festive new orleans type decor. but in back is 40 different kinds of daquires. for $7 you can get a 1 yard drink that will put you in a coma before your done.

Just be careful about those daquiries...for an extra $1, they'll give you an EXTRA shot...I did that once and they just kept on pouring the shot...needless to say I was doing the "dead man's float" when I hit the bed that night. ;)

Anyway, I agree with you, I love downtown. (I would spend most of my time down there if I could but Hubby likes the strip, so we split our time.) I liked the spray can artist that was usually there but I hear things have changed downtown and most of the street vendors are gone now. Is that still the way it is?

Seemed to me there were at least as many street vendors when I was there in August as opposed to last year. I would think the pedestrians eventually find their way into a casino to drop a few bucks.
On a Sunday night, downtown was very crowded.

True..and although the fountains and the volcano take energy and water to keep going, I doubt that they cost what the FSE takes to keep it going with maintenence and such. Not only that, but the volcano and the fountains are owned by a corporation that has to keep them maintained or they will lose customers and fold. The FSE relies on all who are downtown, not one single resort...when it comes to taking care of their hotels, or the FSE, what do you think will come first?

SteveSteve, can you post that link, or email it to me? I thought to myself a couple of times that things were really changing, the way the Lady Luck has changed it's parking status after being bought by Park Plaza and then LL taking it's website reservations down. But I thought maybe the downtown area itself was just trying to become a little more competitive.

I love it down there, and would hate to see one of it's main attractions go, but that's also part of what makes Vegas great-there is always something new, or different to see.

Steve,
Did you say DISMANTLE the FSE??? These changes are getting to me. They are taking away so many of the things that make Vegas, Vegas.
What seperates Las Vegas from the rest is the Vegas experience. If Las Vegas becomes just another town to gamble and drink in then why travel from East Coast to West Coast.
We have ben to AC a couple of times and believe me it is NOT Vegas. It is just a bunch of casinos. I don't go for casinos I go for the experience. I go for The Westward Ho hot dog, I go for the FSE, I go for The Fountains at Bellagio, I go for.............................................:(

If they are thinking of dismantling the FSE that would be a mistake. It is great free entertainment and a draw for the whole downtown area.

Sorry but there is no link. Gaming Today just made a brief statement in regard to the F.S.E. There has been nothing else written since their statement.
