I,m going to LV on 9/20/05. Last year, I noticed a lot of the strip casinos have increased their table minimums to $10. Are there any strip casinos that still have a $5 minimum? If so, could you name a few? Also, may I assume that the downtown casinos (especially the Golden Nugget) still have $5 tables?

Hello Shooter,
Table minimums tend to be a fluctuating thing. The time of year, the time of day, the day of the week, the game you are playing, the number of people in the casino and how much they are betting all affect the limits. All that being said, the best places to find $5 tables would be at the North end of the strip in the late morning hours (i.e., 7:00AM- 10:30AM) on weekdays. That is a general statement, however. I have also seen $5 Pai Gow and blackjack at the Luxor on weekdays as well.

as of a few months ago, center strip hotels with smaller minimums: Imperial Palace, casino Royale, Flamingo, Barbary Coast
Weekends, pariticularly weekend nights, the minimums go up at many places, but during the daytime on weekdays, many casinos have $5 tables
Be careful about the 6:5 blackjack many now have
have fun

Tabel minimums seem directly related to crowds. Busy times/big crowds equals higher minimums. My husband and I were in Vegas over Memorial Day. We were unable to gamble at our own hotel (Harrahs's) due to the high ($10 and up) table minimums (even during the day!). That being said, we did find plenty of five dollar tables both on and off the strip. Off the top of my head...
On Strip (centrally located)
Casino Royale and O'Sheas are always cheap. They are also dingy and smoky.
Bally's
Imperial Palace
NY NY
Aladdin
Paris
MGM
Flamingo
Barbary Coast
Off Strip -
the Palms
Gold Coast
Hard Rock
Downtown -
Pretty much everywhere. I even found a $3 Let It Ride table at the casino with the 99 cent shrimp cocktails. The 302 busses are express and get you downtown.
have a great trip -

Very rarely do you see a $5 table on the strip. I have never personally seen a $5 table at the GN, but I have seen them at the Golden Gate, Main ST station, the Vegas Club, and the 4 Queens. HTH.

Actually the Golden Nugget seemed to have a lot of $10 tables. Everything else downtown is $5 or less.
The New Frontier on the strip has $5 tables, as do the Riviera and Circus. The Westward Ho has sub $5. The Tropicana has $5, as do Luxor and Excalibur. Barbary Coast does too.
Off strip, try the Orleans, Palms, and Gold Coast. Also Terribles.
They have $5 during day at IP. I've even seen it during day at MGM
Lots of choices. You just have to look around a bit.

I have found that many casinos still have $5 minimums (that's all I play), especially during the week. Weekends may be a problem ON the strip. If you wander off of the strip, the Orleans, Gold Coast, Tuscany, and the Silverton have a few $5 tables. The Sahara and the Stratosphere should also have some $5 tables.

The Monte Carlo still has $5 tables that pay 3:2 for blackjack. Many of the others that have $5 tables only pay 6:5 and should be avoided. Also, Bellagio has $5 tables but they will not rate you.

Most casinos will still have the $5 tables although they may be hard to find. If there is an event or weekend it will be pretty much impossible at a major resort.

Sure, you won't have any trouble finding $5 tables during the week. Aside from Wynn they should be all over. Especially during the day.

you can still find lots of $5 tables is you are willing to look. The Imperial Palace has them, also Casino Royale, also Barbary Coast on the strip. Yes, downtown has lots also - look around. The main thing you will see is that the time of day you want to play makes a huge difference. Early morning, afternoon and early evening are your best chances for lower table minimums. Stay away from the very large hotels (Belagio, Venetion, etc.) They always have higher stake tables. Also, time of year matters. You are going at a fairly good time. Toward October, when all the conventions and snowbirds start going, they can boost the minimums, as there is a captive audience. Have you ever been to Laughlin? I really liked their blackjack options. Good luck!

It seems so hard to find any $5 tables on the strip.. This was last year, but I did stumble apon hidden tables that had $5 minimums during the evening hours. They were really seperated from the main tables as if they the casinos were hiding them. I have found the best way to find such tables is to ask a cocktail waitress. If she gives up the info I drop a smal toke on their tray and say thank you very much.

Casino Royale, O'Shea's and I think Sahara. At least that was the way it was a couple of months ago. Good luck!

You can try the older, smaller strip places like Circus Circus, Westward Ho, Barbary Coast, Riviera, Imperial Palace, Boardwalk, etc.....or go downtown where almost every casino always has $5 tables open.

Your best bet is down town. On the strip, play during the day time and most casinos still have $5.00 games. Try the following for low limit games in the evenings & weekends Sahara, Circus Circus,Stardust,Imperial Palace and maybe the Flamingo)
I've played $5 blackjack at the Frontier, Westward Ho, OShea's and the Boardwalk. None of these are the most glamorous of surroundings, but they do offer $5 BJ.
As for downtown, most places offer $5 BJ and some even go down to $3. The Nugget tends to up the minimums on weekends so you may have to try some other places.

Imperial Palace still has $ 5 tables - to get rated you do need to bet at least $ 10. Be careful at blackjack some of the tables have that 6/5 rule.

For VERY low stakes blackjack play, I head on over to Slots-O'-Fun (next door/attached to Circus Circus). They ALWAYS have one $1 table going and all the other tables are $3. In the early morning hours (before 11am), they have an additional $1 table, although it changes over to $3 at 11am, with no grandfathering. A great place for the novice blackjack player, as the dealers are always willing to lend some helpful advice. Not surse if they are 6-5 or 3-2 now.... Mom and I will be headed there during our upcoming visit in October, as we are early risers...... Best of luck!!!

I have to disagree with your statement that the original poster should stay away from big hotels. I saw $5 tables at Bellagio all week last week, both during the day and at night. Though at night there were only 2 of them. I have seen $5 tables at Mirage during the day, usually in the morning til early afternoon. Barbary Coast also had $5 tables. I am told Monte Carlo has been known to have $5 even on the weekends and I have never had a problem finding one at Luxor. Downtown, Main Street Station is great. The Westin though very quiet is another option off strip. Hope this helps.
Casino Royal Still Has $2 Craps With 1000x Odds. You Can Find $5 Limits Throughout The Strip. Sunday To Thursday Especially. I Just Returned Last Week And $5 Minimums Were Everywhere. Try The Suncoast $2 And $5 Minimum Craps, (if You Play Craps). .50 Roullette. $3 Blackjack . Excellent Atmosphere. Good Luck Waco

You are correct - Monte Carlo has a LOT of $5 tables! Low-key play too, which I like.... ENJOY!
