Got an email from the Stratosphere today. For the month of June, $29.99 Sunday-Thursday and $69.99 Friday-Saturday. It said rooms are limited and must book before May 28. Have never stayed there so can't give a room recommendation but the prices seemed good. Don't know if they would continue into July or not.

Hi Waco - I got the same Stratosphere e-mail as above. July 10-July 24 rooms are $31.99 Mon-Thurs. Fri & Sat is $89.99, then Sun. goes back to $31.99. We have stayed there a few times because we've always been comped. My husband called a host before we left. We had a standard room which I didn't like so the host put us in a grand suite that night then the next day we moved to a players suite - not grand but more room. The host also entered me in a slot tournament and booked a limo to the Orleans for a Wranglers game (hockey). We shared the limo with someone my husband knew from the crap tables & his girlfriend. We were comped for the room the whole time & that was our first time staying there. That host is no longer there (darn) but the one we had last time also comped our stay. We are not high rollers, so maybe give the Strat a try. We rent a car but I'm pretty sure the trolley stops there. Go on line & look at the casino & the rooms.

Use this link to compare rates

http://www.vegas4visitors.com/

On the left side is a area where you put in the dates and they will give rates for all the hotels. I found some of them to be about $10 higher than if you deal with the hotel directly.

Have you checked with Steve's host friend at the IP?
Also, I always check the GOLD COAST's rates when I
need something cheap...I don't think they can compete
with the Strat's rate, but the location is far batter, shuttle
to the Strip, good gaming, good food, and PALMS/RIO are right there...

If I am looking for a deal I always check with www.hoteldiscount.com
Also check with www.vegas.com but hoteldiscount always has a lot more.
They buy blocks of rooms and sometimes even had some in a place I wanted to stay even if the hotel direct reservations were sold out.

I always find it best to check directly with the hotel website and click on their promotions section. Sign up online for e mailings as they are usually better than the website if you get them.

What kind of budget for a nightly rate? Most rates right now about $99 at TI and Luxor, Monte Carlo and Harrah's and Strat, might be a little less, but the hotter it gets the rates seem to drop, I agree with Kurtopia, sign up for emails from the hotels. Do you belong to any player clubs,if you do call the number on cards rates are better. I received $60 a night at MGM when I first signed up and now>> I am taking 3 trips this year, leaving this saturday for my 2nd, then agian June 7th all 3 trips are free thanks to MGM Properties, thank you players club !!

The Aladdin just sent an email with summer specials and they show $75 a night for the 11th, 12th, and 13th of July. The 14th is not listed but it says to call for rates for that night.

just got an e-mail for the trop garden room $40.00 a night Sunday - Thursday.
It appears your not getting postcards or mailers from hotels. Try this web site
www.a2zlasvegas.com

On the right side near the bottom of the page is a link to click that will take you to a full page of links for all the Hotel web sites. From there you can go to all the hotels sites and check their room rates. While at many of the hotels web pages you can sign up to receive e-mails for room rate specials.
Room rates change, explore each site for promotions and specials and don't ge suprised if you find different rates on the same hotel site for the same dates your going to be there.

Here is a list of mail and email offers I have received from various LV hotel/casinos.
All are for July 11-13, 06, 2 nights . The last time I checked, strip hotels charged 9% tax. All prices are as of this morning.

You will find that nearly all LV hotels require 1st night's payment at booking , and will require you to cancel 72 hours in advance to avoid payment (if you cancel in time, they will usually refund 1st night). Most hotels will take non-smoking reservations, but all seem to have disclaimers on whether you will actually receive one at check in. ( I have never personally had a problem with getting a non-smoking room, anywhere in Vegas, at checkin.) Also, you should be aware that a number of hotels have daily "add on" expenses, such as phone costs (whether you use phone or not), energy surcharges, and resort fees. See the Sahara below for an example.

However, you will find that many site other than those for the individual hotels will be non-refundable rates, or at least have penalties for cancellation or changes - with a two night stay, these fees could seem excessive.

.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ............................................

Barbara Coast - 2D or K, $65/night, for $141.70 total cost - great location at 4 corners, but no pool - victorian themed rooms
I haven't stayed there. www.barbarycoast.com

Orleans - 2D or K, NS, $48/night, for $104.64 total cost - Orleans is W of the strip, on Tropicana. They run a popular, free shuttle to/from the Barbary Coast (and South Coast) - I have not stayed there, but have heard that the rooms are nice, and a good value at any price. Orleans usually has one $3 blackjack table, a movie theatre, 70 lane bowling alley and more. www.orleanscasino.com

Golden Nugget - downtown - 2D,K NS for $76.59 per night - add 11% tax for downtown hotels - very nice room, a lot like rooms at Mirage - nicest casino DT, huge coffee shop menu with good food - but you prob. should stay on strip for this visit - since you'll do most of your sightseeing on the strip www.goldennugget.com

New York New York - standard K room, NS $109.99/night for toal of $239.78 - have not stayed there, but hear it's nice - great Irish bar, great piano bar www.nynycasino.com

Sahara Hotel and Casino - Deluxe room, $53/night plus tax - also add the following:
The Sahara Hotel charges a $1.00 per day service charge for unlimited local and toll free telephone calls, and a $3.00 per day energy surcharge. These are automatic non-refundable charges. The Sahara's rooms are extremely basic - nothing special (price quoted includes $10 extra for the "deluxe" room)-gives you a better chance for NS room, and assures you an individually controlled air/heat system. www.saharalasvegas.com Sahara advertises $3 BJ, but in my experience, they are only available part of the day - usually not available really early or late - decent rules, - pay 3 to 2, but dealer hits soft seventeens

MIrage - 2D or K, NS for $139/night - plus tax - great room, although bath a bit small - but they have vanity area just outside of the bathroom - rooms very www.mirage.com - mirage is a good location for getting to Forum Shops at Caesars - for food, shopping, etc.

TI - K NS for $99/night plus tax - www.treasureisland.com - haven't stayed there

Tropicana Las Vegas - Island Tower $75.95/night plus tax - (includes $10/night for upgrade from Garden room - avoid the noisy garden rooms) - have not stayed there-
www.tropicanalv.com

Westin Casuarina - 1D,2D,K - from $109.95/night plus tax - www.westin.com - We love this place - haven't stayed there, but I have seen a room - modern, nice - this is the old Maxim, stripped down to the "rafters" and redone - small casino - westin hotels have all gone totally smoke free - I get conflicting reports on whether the casino has gone NS or not, but I have always found it relatively smoke free - love the VP here - table game rules suck. I also love the little restaurant The Silver Peek Grill - great for lunch, expensive for bkfst. - although I have read that it has been reworked since I've been to the restaurant - small pool located on second floor - despite the size, this hotel has a spa - in case it matters to you (allergies or such), be aware that the hotel does take pets

Aladdin - 1K, 2Q, NS available - from $89/night plus tax - www.westin.com - this rate includes breakfast!!! It's the "Best Rate with Breakfast" rate - includes full American breakfast for each person - room should include a safe Aladdin will soon be Planet Hollywood - rates have been great lately during the transformation - great location near 4 corners - haven't stayed there, but understand it's nice - big shopping/entertainment area adjacent to hotel/casino - I think that this would be a great choice for the money-nice hotel/casino/room in good location center strip You might get a better rate by calling, having them quote rate, and then using code CSPSU6 for a discounted rate, possibly as low as $49 a night?!
If you go to http://southerncalifornia.destinations.starwoodhotels.com/las_vegas_summer/? you should get a rate of $59/nt plus tax - may get extras at checkin, incld. 2 spa admissions and $10 slot play with $20 coin in- you may need to be a member of sheraton/Starwood's frequent stay club - but if you're not you could always sign up before calling or going - the $59 /nt rate was available this a.m. for K or 2Q cityview rooms

Hilton Grand Vacation Club on the Las Vegas Strip - just north of Circus Circus on the strip - this is a time share resort that also rents rooms like a hotel - all suite property - non gaming hotel - nice area with several pools and hot tubs, several entertainment rooms - for TV watching, reading, I think even a pool table - nice workout area as well - this is a recently built property - only possible negatives (IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT THE NON -GAMING LOCATION) is that it has no indoor restaurant - nice small grill by the pools ( it has misters for comfort ) - have stayed and eaten there - food was good - also have a sort of gift shop/convenience store with prepared foods available for purchase - salads, sandwiches heated to order, etc. - the other possible neg. is that they are still building other towers - but we didn't notice any noise when we stayed - this is an all suites property - the one bedroom, which we stayed in, was wonderful - true suite, including stocked kitchen, dining area, 2 TV's, DVD and CD player, washer and dryer - 1 bdrm ste is 723 sq ft - big whirlpool in bedroom of 1 bdm plan - $84/nt for studio, $114/nt for one bdrm whirlpool suite if you have AAA - can even cost less if you're willing to take a non-refundable rate - without the non-refund rate or AAA rate, prices go to $99/nt and $129/nt - all prices plus tax
Have not seen a studio, but website says it has wetbar, micro, small fridge, DVD player - 360 sq ft
http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml?moreDesc=true&ctyhocn=LASVSGV These prices are exceptionally low for this place!!

Paris Las Vegas - total would be $292.12 - $119 and $149 for the 2 nights - great location, very nice rooms - some people don't like the armoire instead of a closet - but we thought the room was lovely - http://www.caesars.com/paris/lasvegas - nice property - and you can walk to Ballys without going outside!

Las Vegas Hilton sent me a mailer for $199 packages (PLUS TAX) but it's not
available for your time frame: room rates are ridiculous for your nights

Stratosphere - various rooms available starting at $32/nt, with upgarded rooms for $40 and$48 a night - they even have suites available for $108 per night. I have not stayed here, but your concierge, Paul Carlin has stayed there at least 3 times - he said the only thing wrong with the cheapest room is that it has a single vanity - he has stayed in standard room and upgraded rooms. http://www.stratospherehotel.com/

Flamingo - website for your dates shows $90/nt for total with tax of $196.20 - this is supposedly a "hot" rate - doesn't sound so great to me, but I know little about their rooms. http://www.caesars.com/Flamingo/LasVegas/?A20A48CAB84GOOGLEAD1C5C2FCBD1B& They might discount this 10 for AAA.

Harrah's website shows $95 and $90 for your nights - doesn't sound like much of a deal to me - but I know little about their rooms http://www.harrahs.com/our_casinos/las/

Monte Carlo - $95/night plus tax - http://www.montecarlo.com/ - don't know much about rooms, except that I have heard that they are nice - this is an usual place for Vegas - much more tasteful and subdued than other properties

Ballys want $89 and $119 for your nights - I think that sounds expensive, but I don't know much about their rooms - http://www.caesars.com/Reservations/main.aspx

Stardust - the least expensive rooms are sold out - they had 2Q West Tower for $59/nt plus tax, and West Tower King Suite for $125/nt plus tax - I know very little about their accomodations - http://www.stardustlv.com/

Excalibur - from $81/nt plus tax, with that price for a 2Q or K standard, with a strip or city view room $10 more per night, and a larger, deluxe room for the same $91 per night - http://www.excalibur.com/ - know little to nothing about this one

Luxor - deluxe pyramid king for $100/nt plus tax, with a deluxe tower king for $110 per nt + tx - http://www.luxor.com/ - rooms, are, I am told, nice - pyramid rooms include rides in the inclinator, a unique type of elevator, since this is an angled building - I hear pyramid rooms are nice but lose a little space due to curved wall-i think they overlook the atrium

I did not check the following: Circus Circus (lots of kids), Frontier, Riviera, Wynn Las Vegas, Caesars, Venetian, Imperial Palace, Bellagio, MGM (too huge for our taste), Mandalay Bay (probably my favorite property), Hard Rock. I have access to a casino host at Imperial Palace, who will get you a good room rate, if you are interested.

.................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...........................................

Don't know how you plan to get around Vegas, but I checked car rental rates for you. Checking rates without times is not accurate, but I did a check from 12:30 pm on 11th until 6:30 pm on 13th - on Orbitz, where I always check first, nationwide companies started at $97 for a compact and $104 for a mid size - these prices are with all the megafees included - in checking www.thrifty.com (for an example) and using my member no., I got a total rate for a compact of $95.06, and for a midsize at $101.94 - I always book a car and then recheck pricing several times before my trip - I can often rebook for less! Driving in Vegas can be crazy - but there is free parking at nearly every casino, and there are often back routes to take to them, avoiding the strip.
(Oh, prices here are without extra insurance - I can use both my personal auto insurance and am covered when using my VISA platinum card, as well - so I never price or by the extra insurance.)

You may choose to use a combination of shuttles and cabs, but be aware that it costs a little under $4 just to get in a cab in Vegas these days. Monorail has gone up to $5/ride or $15 a day when I last checked, but be aware that in the case of most stops, it's a heck of a long walk from monorail to the casino/hotels - there still are some shuttles between hotels, and they are always free. I have not rode the new Deuce and other double decker buses on the Strip, but I understand they are SLOW; the trolley makes a lot of stops, and goes in one direction, so it can be slow depending on your stop and destination. The site for the Las Vegas public bus service is http://www.rtcsouthernnevada.com/cat/

The website I recommended was www.cheapovegas.com. It's a thorough, but irreverant look at the LV casinos and hotels. I always end up laughing when I read this site.

I also love www.tripadvisor.com. I don't book on it, but I love to read the reviews.

Hope this info helps! Suzanne
