First timers

Am taking some friends to LV for the first time :) :D and was wondering - where would you take them first?

During our last trip, we had some first-timers with us. If you arrive in the afternoon, I think it's a great time to do a drive down the Strip--traffic isn't bad and it makes the Strip "real" to them. We also stopped in at the happy hour at Pink Taco in the Hard Rock: introduces them to Vegas culture in a non-scary and non-overly-impressive way, so that you can ease them into busier and more grandiose things later!

Traveling/Entertaining a group of newbies is always a CHALANGE!
Getting folks to agree on restaurnats, Shows, sights, and sent you all
off in different directions with a 'meeting' place and time later in the day
that EVERYONE is LATE for...lol

You might consider all getting together, tossing out some ideas, interests
on sightseeing, Shows, etc. and then set up a loose schedual for the visit
with a few 'must do's' that everyone will enjoy.

Break the STRIP into 3 sections, visit one each day so you're not running
from one end to the other...
Get your Show tickets in advance before you leave home...
Set up a 'kitty' everyone contributes to to pay for transportation...CABS
are always affordable when there's a group of you paying for one...

On my first trip to Vegas, my very good friend and Vegas veteran, Mike, played semi-tour guide. We had dinners and a couple of shows scheduled ahead of time, but also had time set aside to play on our own.

The first night, after dinner, he drove me downtown via I-15 where we toured the Fremont area. It was after midnight when we decided to return to NYNY, so he drove me back via Las Vegas Boulevard. So I got a good look at the territory right away.

We also did a few day-trips, but I was happy to go exploring on my own as well.

I visited Liberace Museum, Titanic Exhibit, Shark Reef and that sort of thing.

I recommend you give them an overview, accompany them to a couple of places you'd like to visit or revisit. Plan some meals together to catch up as well as whatever shows you want to do. Make sure you have a designated meeting place/ltime easy for the newbies to get to.

This gives you a combination of structured and free time. They may want to see the sights, sit by the pool or hit the spa. Set them free the rest of the time.

If we were taking friends for the first time, we would be sure to have them see the "Fountains of Bellagio". They are awe-inspiring and the surrounding hotels have the most beautiful architecture (along with the Venetian) on the strip. The frescoes and floors of the Venetian are also stunning to see. Amazingly so much of the really great sights and activities in Las Vegas are free. Check out this website.

Probably wherever you take them,they are going to be pleased, so don't fret too much about it, just have fun.:)

I don't know how long you plan to stay but the very first night I would go to:

1. The Fountains of Bellagio
2. Mirage Volcano
3. Forum Shops @ Caesar's Palace
4. Treasure Island

It isn't too long a walk if you take your time and have a stroll. They will get to see the main sights of Vegas that first time visitors like to see.

In the days/nights after that I would do all the stuff that the other members have suggested, Freemont, Liberace, Shark Reef, Elvisarama, etc.

As you know, you don't have to do much to have a blast in Vegas! :D

Just walk the strip the first day. Show them as many hotel/casinos as you can. Walk around inside too. NYNY is so cool to see, and Bellagio's conservatory is too! Well, I can go on and on, but I would just take in the sights first day and night, then the other days and nights are for shows and restaurants. Hopefully you have shows and restaurants picked out already. Very hard to get tix for shows the night you want them! And don't forget at night you've got to show them the Bellagio water show, Mirage volcano, TI Sirens pirate ship show, and Freemont Street Experience (downtown's laser show)!

Just start walking from casino to casino taking in all the sights no matter how much you have seen you will still miss something.Every time you visit Vegas there is allways something new:D

Take them to Luxor, go up to second floor, near the ticket office where you can walk directly under the peak of the pyramid's atrium and simply say: "Look up!"
Then just a few yards farther in is the King Tut's Tomb exhibit, that was a lot better way to spend 5 bucks than some of the squeaky tight slot machines I continually chose to play...

Crikey! 'e's a bit grumpy! But no worries, the only way to make him bite you is to poke him with a sharp stick! Fortunately, I happen to have a sharp stick right 'ere! CRIKEY!

i always advise newbies to take in the fountains as many times as possible and the botanical gardens. the smell alone is worth it

after that...i can't imagine that they won't be wide-eyed at just about everything there is to see.

First I would drive the length of the strip. A little guided tour is always fascinating. Then I would start at Mandalay Bay to Luxor to Excalibur to NY,NY to MGM to Hooters To Tropicana to Madalay Bay. That kills a day.
At night hop on the I 15 and head for Fremont Street and catch a couple of shows and eat dinner at Main Street Station Buffet. Back on the I 15 and get off at Flaming turn right on L V B and watch the Fountains of Bellagio.
Day 2 is a walkabout again. Park at Bally's to Bellagio, to Ceasars to Venition to Harrahs to Imperial Palace to Flamingo to Barbary Coast then dinner at the Big Kitchen Buffet in Bally's. Catch the fountains one more time
Day 3 is moving day. Start at Mirage to TI to Frontier to Stardust to Circus Circus to Reviera to Sahara to Stratosphere and dinner (expensive) at Top of the Tower. Catch the volcano at Mirage at show at TI.
That should cover all the bases.
