lately I don't miss a change to have the filet or tuna a Mesa Grill in Ceasar's. I love what Flay does with spices. But my best overall meal was on my first trip to Vegas. As much for the memories as the food. I was staying in pre-implosion Aladdin and they had a diner right off the tables. There was a really good chili-cheese omlette there. The diner was gone when they rebuilt. I don't even know if I would like it if I had it now, but it sticks in my mind as the best meal. Vegas was new to me, I was winning, there as a gift, learning all the games, and they were open all hours. Good times.

Shrimp alfredo at Battista's hole in the wall, located behind Barbary coast. Throw in the free wine that comes with the meal, and the little man playing the accordian and you have a party.

The best meal since moving to Vegas at The Bootlegger Bistro on las Vegas Boulevard and Warm Springs. It's Italian and I had spaghetti with meat sauce and home made meatballs. They also have home made sausage. My date had something I couldn't spell or pronounce but he LOVED IT.

I'd have to say the steak dinner at Ellis Island. Believe it or not, I'd rate their Club Sandwich right up there, it was HUGE!! Their BBQ is awesome also... It's a no brainer!!!

Mon Ami Gabi's at the entrance to the Paris Hotel and overlooking the Bellagio fountains. Go there every year now for dinner at least once.
Battistas was good as well but get rid of the spinach for your veal platter as the 'house' vegetable for that dish. Not to everyone's liking. Not bad value and good atmosphere.
For the buffet love the Paris for lunch, Aladdin (don't mess with this when you change over) for dinner.
Coffee house is Cantors at TI.

My best meal in Las Vegas had to be at The Las Vegas Hilton Steakhouse. I had a 12oz bone-in Filet Mignon that had to be the best Steak I have ever had. The entire meal was outstanding.
Honorable Mentions:
The Sterling Brunch at Bally's
Circus, Circus Steakhouse..Humongus Portions

The Chateaubriand dinner for two at the Top of the World at the Stratosphere. Good food, great views, and excellent service.
We also had a lovely meal at William B's at the Stardust. Again, the food was good, but it was the excellent and friendly service that made it one of the best.

My wife and I stayed at the Bellagio for my 40th birthday and ate at Picasso for dinner on my birthday. We did the Prix Fixe meal that had wine pairings with each course. It was a relaxing, sophisticated and awe-inspiring meal. I do not eat here everytime I am in Las Vegas (unless I win big and can afford to throw my "profits" around!), but it cannot be beat for a special occasion or if you have something to celebrate.
If your tastes lean towards coupon-inspired specials or buffets under $10, this restaurant will probably not be for you, though I appreciate a good deal as much as the next guy/gal.

My best meal in Vegas, had to be Il Mulino at the Forum Shops. Service, food, atmosphere all wonderful. I plan on going back during my next trip. However it was a pricey meal, and worth every penny we spent. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an upscale Italian dinner. I am told the lamb is one of the best items on the menu, however, I am not a lamb eater so I didn't try it.

My girlfriend and I weren't starving so we stopped into Margaritaville for quick lunch. We ended up splitting a big plate of their Nachos, they were awesome, the best either of us ever had. Drinks included the whole lunch cost under $20.00, great bargain!

I am not big on meat, but I have to say the best meal and prime rib I have ever had was at Les Artistes Steakhouse off the casino area at the Paris Hotel. My husband, as well, who eats more meat than I, can attest to the quality of the prime rib there. The price, which is affordable and not out of reach at all, has gone up over the past few years, but if you stay at Paris or Bally's, there is always a $20 coupon for 2 dinners floating around. Sometimes, even if you are not staying there, you can go to those people doing promotions at those hotels and ask sweetly. They will usually give you one. I also think you can get that coupon in a coupon book you can purchase at Bill's www.vegasresource.com. There are lots of other coupons in those books, too. Not only is the food great, but the decor and ambience are lovely. We try to go there for my birthday every December.

Gee, I must be in a different dimension or plane, but I have tried the Grand Lux at the Venetian twice, and both times were a bust. Several relatives and friends said they have tried it as well, and they all had the same bad experience. The food and the service were awful! When they opened a Grand Lux here in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. my step-daughter said she went, and the food was awful. It is ironic, since this restaurant is owned by the same people who own Cheesecake Factory which happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. Go figure.

The best meals my husband and I ever ate was at the old Aladdin before it was torn down. We could get a large piece of prime rib, baked potato and vegetable for $4.95. It was always very good and we ate there every night while in Vegas. Their buffet was just okay but always more than I could eat. I don't remember the name of the restaurant but there was always a long waiting line. Now we walk over to Ellis Island and eat. We have never had a bad meal there.

When Tony Marnell built the RIO... put in the All American Bar and Grill
so he and his buddies would have a fun place to meet, eat, and talk shop,
he also built my favorite exrestaurant in Las Vegas.
In Masquerade Village, where the Tilted Kilt is now...he built a restaurant
for his Mother and her friends to get together...it was called MAMMA'S.
MAMMA'S had THE BEST 'Canteloni'. I'd look forward to that each trip
and have it several times a trip. Many times his Mom would be there
entertaining her friends...looked like a scene out of The Godfather!
These days, the 'Rustic Lasangia' at Grand Lux has to fill the bill.....

Bellagio buffet was one of my best meals. Also had a good dinner at Lawry's Prime Rib off the strip and I always have a great lunch meal each trip at California Pizza Kitchen at Mirage. The service at CPK is sometimes spotty but the lunch has always been way above expectation. Ususally have a Ceasar salad and a pizza----plus the bread and butter; I don't have to eat the rest of the night!!!!
I'll also remember the night we went into the Aladdin because their marquee said 'YOU CAN'T LOSE HERE' (this was in the 80's) and we walked in and the entire casino was totally stripped down to the outer bare walls---they were completely remodeling and rebuilding the casino. One of their restaurants was still open and they had a filet dinner for something like 6.95 and it was especially good too. I think the price was so low just to get people to come in.

We really like the prime rib special for under $8.00 at the Market Street Cafe in the California in the downtown area. It's a great deal and one of the best prime ribs we have ever eaten. And if you are going for a buffet, we just tried the Rio for the first time on March 29th. It was the best and largest buffet we have ever been to. Highly recommend it.

LUNCH at "Olives" in the Bellagio. Delectable, mouth watering. Found out the chef is Todd English who owns a number of famous restaurants in NY.Great wine and great view overlooking the water. We go there every time we go to Vegas.

The best for me is the Sao Paulo at the Rio for breakfast. The pancakes are so fluffy and everything is cooked to perfection. The bacon is crisp and the fruit bowls are full of really fresh melons and berries.
Hubby likes the Sao Paulo breakfasts, too, but he would probably say it is a toss-up with the Range for dinner. Steaks are very tender and shrimp cocktail is superb according to him.

The dinner buffet at Green Valley Ranch is the best meal I've had in Vegas. I had shrimp scampi cooked individually and it was the best I've ever had along with the tasty prime rib rubbed with some great spices. All the food seemed to be very fresh and of good quality. I would defnitely go back for the $16/per person price we paid.

It has to be the steak in the Cheesecake Factory. Can't remember exactly which steak it was but it was deeeeelicious! My mum got chicken and I think they must have had 2 whole chickens on her plate! You should have seen her face, it was a picture! Even the girl at the next table couldn't move for laughing at my mum's reaction to these huge chickens that had been placed before her - she is only 4'8'' so there wasn't much space to store them! LOL
As I've posted before - Best nachos in the world are at the Hoover Dam and I loooove Quizno's and Dennys!

Not so easy to answer this one.
Best expensive meal - at Aureole
Best cheap meal - Steak Special at Ellis Island
Best buffet - Paris because of the fresh crepes but my new favorite is Wynn
Best breakfast - Peppermill omelette
Best all around meal for reasonable price points that I order every single time I go there - Mongolian Beef at Grand Lux.
Now I'm hungry.

We have enjoyed many great meals at Lilly Langtry's at the Nugget. While I am not a really huge Chinese food fan, the dinners, service and ambiance was always superb. We got to know Mr. Ching, the venerable maitre'd and he would always stop by our table to chat. I miss him since he retired a few years ago.

Lived in Vegas and go back once or twice a year, for the past seventeen years. Two years ago we went to Billy Bob's Steakhouse at Sam's Town. My husband had the Ribeye and I had the Sirloin with a Bourbon sauce. We both agree it was the best!

The best meal I have ever had in my entire life was at Joel Robuchon at the Mansion. It was also the most expensive. Some people go to Vegas and gamble, I go there and eat. Homard lobster with saffron butter and vegetable napoleons with white truffles are worth it.
Your mileage may vary. :)

I know my wife will say the steak dinner she had at Prime at Bellagio. I am torn. I loved the Cajun Ribeye I had at Morton's of Chicago, but for a more basic meal, the burger and a beer at the 777 Brew Pub at Main Street Station is awesome too.

Last Friday Night my daughter and myself had a steak dinner at Bradley Ogden's in Caesar's Palace. Everything was perfect from the salad to a steak that was so large we couldn't finish it. The service was impeccable.
Monday Night another great dinner at Mesa Grille also in Caesars. Hard to choose which was best as they were different and hard to compare.

I had the meal a few times at the old Aladdin also and I agree, good meal and you couldn't beat the price (ah the good 'ol days). Since then the best meal I've had in Vegas was our wedding reception meal at Fellini's in the Stratosphere. It had 4 courses: The antipasti with fresh bread, fresh homemade minestrone (or a salad), cheese ravioli with fresh vodka sauce then the entree (choice of NY Strip steak, salmon, veal picatta or chicken marsala), all for $28.95 per person. It was excellent and the service was top notch!

Emeril's at MGM had to be our best ever. My daughter and I had BBQ shrimp with the tiny rosemary biscuits and then finished up the meal with the wonderful banana cream pie. Yummy! Maybe it was so good because we hadn't eaten all day due to our flights being delayed and we were starved. Whatever the reason, this is the best meal in Vegas for us.

My wife and I just returned from eight days in Vegas and ate at the Grand Lux three times. All the meals were excellent. And the portions are more than you can eat. We eat there at least twice and sometimes more often during our semi-annual trips to Vegas. We love it. The service is usually excellent. An extra special treat is the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. You order them when you order your meal and they bake them while you eat. They take about thirty minutes and when they are handed to you warm and fresh from the oven they melt in your mouth. I can't pick a favorite meal there. We love several of them. We have also had excellent meals at Spago in Caesars Palace and both the Wynn and Paris Buffets.

Hands down the best and most consistent would have to be Delmonico's. I have dined there at least 20 times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. Most disappointing would be Restaurant RM $250.00 for 2 people no drinks or wine, the food was at best so so and after 3 courses we left very hungry

Last December when my wife and I were in Vegas, we used a $75 coupon which I obtained on ebay to eat at BINIONS Ranch Steak House Restaurant (downtown). We ordered each the lamb chops. Let me tell you that it was so good that I chewed on the bones. It was a great meal and a wonderful view from the 24th floor looking south toward the Strip from downtown. Try it! My best meal has been in The Steakhouse at Camelot in Excalibur. I have the Reef and Beef which is Main Lobster and Filet Mignon, the Pan Seared Maryland Crab Cakes, Lobster Bisque, and to finish it all off, the Creme Brulee. Is it cheap? No. Is it delicious? YES!!!!!. Friendly and good waitstaff. They come around just enough without being bothersome. I haven't had to wait too long either time I went there, maybe five min. the first time and seated right away the second. It's just fancy enough without having to get dressed up. They have linen tablecloths but they still admit people in jeans. Even though it's by the food court you don't hear the outside distractions. It's soft lighting but you don't go blind trying to read the menu. I'm going to Vegas in June and yes, I intend to eat at Camelot.

I can't say what my best Vegas meal was. If it's good - then I'm satisfied. I can only remember meals that are terrible.
I kind of have to rely on our friends with whom we go to Vegas with to point out things like that.
They will be going with us in June so they will help us pay more attention to the food and other things as well. :D :) :p ;)

My best Las Vegas meal is a rather inexpensive one. It is at the Mirage, at The California Pizza Kitchen. A chopped salad, with penne and sun dried tomato's, with an unsweetened iced tea!! A simple meal, but it always hits the spot!! I recommend it if you like a good meal, at a good price!!:)

We ususally eat at just the buffets when we go to Vegas as we are always on the go, but last year we met up with some family who treated us to a fine dinner at the 808 in Caesar's. I have to say that after 11 years of going to Vegas, that had to be the best meal we ever ate!

I confess I don't stop to eat a fine meal in Vegas, so Grand Lux is about as good as it gets for me. But once, at Mirage or TI, I was craving a pickle, and the guy at the deli gave me darn near the whole jar in a container, I took it back to the slots, and shared with the whole row. The best part was the conversation I had with these complete strangers, but our love of pickles and slots made it the "best".

One night in Dec I stopped in Peppermill and ordered a french dip sandwich and potato salad. It was, by far, the best french dip I had ever had. We're going back in May and have a few places to try so maybe I'll have a new 'best' meal to report on. Planning to go to Ellis Island for the steak special, Grand Lux, and maybe Mon Ami Gabi.

I can't choose between Bellagio Buffet and the Spice Market Buffet. Both have had great trips and years they were off a little. I tried the Wynn, and it's close to these two, but I'm not sold that it's better than them when they're at their best.
The best deal, by far, is the Ellis Island Steak dinner. My other two nominations for this category are now gone (Prime Rib dinner at the Maxim and Steak & Lobster at the old Aladdin).

My best meal is not necessarily the best "deal". Every time we visit we have to go to Billy Bob's Steakhouse in Sam's Town. Last time we went we ordered Filet Mignon and Lobster. The steaks were cooked to perfection (as always) and when we were almost through, the waiter brought TWO MORE lobster tails because he said he wasn't satisfied with the size of the first ones. Amazing!

I agree with many of the people who said the $5.00 or $6.00 prime rib dinners that they used to offer at many hotels were the best. I go to Vegas to gamble so my meals are usually in the reasonably priced coffee shops at the hotels, which are very good. I have also eaten once at the Bootlegger when it was in a different location and that was good. As far as buffets go, I don't usually go to them except for breakfast, however I did have the champagne brunch at the Fiesta Henderson which was excellent.

As mentioned we usually stay off strip at Sunset Station. Their gourment restautant, Sonoma Cellar, is by far the best meal we have every had in Vegas. When we do stay on the strip, Bradley Ogden is tops with the "Gristle Missle" (HO DOG) taking up the rear.

This week's "Topic Of The Week" question is:
What was your best Las Vegas meal?
Luxor Steak House Great but a little expensive. Orleans Prime Rib Loft, excellent prime rib and reasonable prices.
I like the Elis Island steak dinner as well. I go at least once a trip. But I had an amazing meal at an Italian restuant in the Alladin. I don't know the name of the resturant and couldn't find it again the next time I was in town but it was great.
Best club sandwitch I ever had was at the Tropical Breeze in the Flamingo. I make sure to get there too.

The crabcakes at Kokomos in the Mirage were awesome, followed by the king crab claws - wow - I was walking sideways after that meal. :)
I have to agree with this 100%. You don't even have to crack the crab legs, just peel out the meat! Huge crab legs:eek: Steaks and garlic mash potatoes are very good too.

For upscale dining I have lately been going to Andre's at Monte Carlo. The one downtown may be slightly better but the Monte Carlo is more convenient. Go early, sit at the bar and go through the wine list. You could be occupied for an hour. For more casual good food my daughter has fallen in love with Red 8 at the Wynn, especially the Udon Noodles. For those times when you want to low roll it nothing can beat the chili and cheeseburger at the lunch counter at the back of White Cross Drugs. Finally, for buffets I would currently say the Wynn but in years past the absolute best Sunday Brunch Buffet was in The Brown Derby at MGM (no longer there), even better than the Bally's Sterling Brunch.

My hubby and I love the Noodle Factory in the Monte Carlo, the Spice Buffet at
the Aladdin, and Pharoh's Feast at Luxor. Actually, in the eight or so years that
we have been going to Vegas, I don't remember any meal being truly bad..maybe we have just been lucky so far:) I will say that the most fun meal we ever had
was at the Caesar's Magical Empire....what a great show and dinner!!

The best meal I ever had in Vegas (or anywhere for that matter) was at the now long gone Ye Old Lobster House. The restaurant was across from T.I. on what is now the Venetian. They changed the name and moved down the road and is now known as the Rosewood Grill. Anybody that has been to Vegas has seen the ads on the bus stops with the humongous lobster. Well I think that one was mine. :o

Our first trip to Las Vegas we came upon All American Grill at the Rio. We did not have reservations, but were early for dinner and got seated quickly. I remember my meal very much, bone in rib eye, medium and the biggest baked potato I had ever seen in my life! All was cooked to perfection. I ate every bite of that steak and the server was shocked!

This is actually very difficult because we've had so many outstanding meals in Las Vegas. Its impossible to choose one over another as far as the quality of the food.
A few years ago we went to the Italian Ristorante at the Riviera on our 35th anniversary. The service and food were both excellent (spinach salad prepared tableside was superb) and we thanked our waiter near the end of the meal and told him about our anniversary. He came back from the kitchen in a few minutes carrying a huge slice of double chocolate cake with two plates and along with others from the staff congratulated us on our special day.
I'm sure there are better Italian restaurants out there but we'll never forget how great they made us feel that day.:)

Best hotel cafe I have ate at:
Grande Lux Cafe- Venetian
Any meal you order on the menu is good. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, all excellent. My favorite meal is the Chicken Parm. I go here atleast 2 times a visit.
Best expensive buffet I have ate at:
Dishes at TI
All the food is "ready made" that means the chefs buhind the buffet counter are constantly cooking fresh food and serve it to you fresh. They don't let ceratin foods sit out on the counter. At first I thought $20 was high for dinner, but after you fill your plate up 3 times you already have gotten $20 worth of food, and that's even before you get to the dessert. Don't let the price scare you. If you win $20 at the tables put it aside and try this place. You'll be bragging all over the place about it. You won't regret it.
Best cheap buffet I have ate at:
Paradise Buffet - Fremont Casino (Downtown)
Hey if your piss poor and are tight with your money but expect to get good food then this is the buffet to go to. For $5 and change you can go here and get a nice meal. I always eat breakfast here. They have a chef that makes fresh omlets for you, and he even makes fresh pancakes. That right there is worth alone $5. If you were to go to Denny's or a cafe they would charge you $5 for an omlet. This breakfast buffet has fresh fruit and pastries also. The waiters and waitress are super friendly! The first time I brought my friends here they wanted to go back again. Talk about value!

Best meal I've ever had was at Nobhill. My wife and I went there before going to see KA. Let me say that the food blew both of us away. We had the Classic Cheese Fondue as a starter. The fondue was wonderful nice variety of items to dip into the melted cheese. For the main course I had Michael’s Lobster Pot Pie. There truly is two pounds of lobster in it. Words can not be used to describe how good it was. My wife had the Seared Day Boat Diver Scallops. Again the Scallops were huge and very tasty. My wife was going on and one about them for some time. For dessert we both shared this lemon thing. It had several types of lemon desserts on one plate.
The service was outstanding. When my wife and I showed up and our hostess said that our table was not ready yet and offered to let us sit at the bar. Beyond that she answered a few questions about the palce. I found this to be important because my wife and I are on the young side and when your young service is hit or miss. We had nothing but praise for Nobhill.
As for buffett the Bellagio is the best by far. Great selection and people are nice.
[INDENT]For coffee shops I love Mr. Lucky's at the Hard Rock Hotel. It's fun they have great shakes, when it's busy the counter is a great place to sit. Another thing I like is that it's open so when you want to sit and people watch you can do that also. That's just my two cents. :) :D

By definition, it's impossible to have TWO 'best' meals, huh? Okay,,,
The best meal I've had in Las Vegas is the risotto at Jazzed. OMG, I only have to go back a dozen more times to try every variety! (and yes, DragonDoll, we used a gift certificate from restaurants.com :) )The best tapas 'meal' I've ever had is at Firefly on Paradise. The stuffed dates are to die for!
Last December when my wife and I were in Vegas, we used a $75 coupon which I obtained on ebay to eat at BINIONS Ranch Steak House Restaurant (downtown). What do you search for, or where do you look, on Ebay to find items like this? TIA!

Shrimp cocktail and Prime Rib at the top of the Horseshoe. The shrimp are so large that you have to cut them into pieces and eat them. They are really a meal in its self. It is GREAT!!! But you better save your appetite for the whole day to eat all of it.

My favorite overall was Mon Ami Gabi. We were sitting at a table for 2 right next to the strip. We didn't even have to wait for the table. I don't even remember what I ate. The atmosphere was just so nice.
We always go to the Brew Pub at MC for steamed clams at least once every trip. They are yummy, and I can't usually even find them where I live!
I could keep going on ... We've had some great meals in Vegas. I love the ones where you eat in a restaurant you didn't think you could afford, but splurged after a big hit! I think those are my very favorite!

Huge Alaskan crab legs already cracked and the best prime rib. It was not

For me, Nobu beats out Aureole by a hair. Kobe beef, abalone sashimi, and blackened miso cod with lots of sake. Yum. Oh yes. Worth every bit of the $150 I paid.
At Aureole, a friend and I got the prix fixe dinner with the wine pairings. I remember a French onion type soup (only creamy) topped with a puff pastry. (My own French onion tops it.) There was squab with foie gras. (Rich and gamy.) I had the flatiron and filet combo for the entree. The flatiron was superb, the filet was unremarkable. Our waiter brought us out an assload of desserts - I think I counted about 11 different things. What a hookup! That was a $250+ meal. Most I've ever spent but my god, what an experience. The sommelier was particularly enthusiastic.

I like Mon Ami Gabi the best, probably as much for the atmosphere sitting out on the terrace and watching the fountains on a warm evening. Although, we do enjoy the steaks there. Last Friday night had an awesome steak dinner and one of the best desserts we've had in Vegas (flourless chocolate cake). We love the place and always eat there for dinner at least once night on all of our trips.

this is tough - i've had a bunch of really great meals in vegas - some of the most memorable include:
Lowry's (Flamingo & Howard Hughes) - a little pricey but the service and food is excellent. They ask you "Ok, who DOESN'T want the Prime Rib?" Fresh veggies, a salad prepared at your table, etc.
The Steakhouse (Circus Circus) - again, a little pricey but this little gem is hidden in a pretty low budget place, you'll never believe it could be so good.
Michaels (Barberry Coast) - Ok, we were duped into this place by some friends who have lived in Vegas all their lives. My buddy and I took our girlfriends there, they were impressed by the place, very small and cozy, excellent service. We ordered dinner, had a few drinks, nothing to extravagant, and only I noticed that at least a half-a-dozen tables around us sat down, ordered drinks, and left.
We knew something was wrong - our girlfriends never mentioned that the place was so expensive. Dinner for 4 was something like $600. It turned out that THEIR menus didn't have prices...

WOW! Just spent my first evening in the Triple Sevens Brew Pub at Main Street Station! Last week I had another great meal at The Hilton Steakhouse. Excellent from start to finish. Prices have gone up since my last visit but so have prices in all gourmet restaurants. Jay is a very personable Maitre' D and takes personal interest in your dining experience. Mention my newsletter to him if you go there.
Also had another wonderful meal at Ming at the I.P. Food was awesome but my waitress gave me the check without asking if I wanted dessert, tea or coffee. I mentioned that to the gentleman who appeared to be the manager and he didn't seemed that concerned.

Smith & Wollensky's GREAT! My husband said it was the best steak he has ever had. The macaroni and cheese is to die for! We also, had a wonderful dinner at Delmonico's. Not much on the buffets as I think you can get much better table service meals for the same price.

It was a special birthday celebration, but my most memorable (and delicious) meal in Vegas was at the Top of the World in the Stratosphere.
I remember eating almond crusted salmon, and we shared a few "starters", all of it delicious and served very graciously. The whole atmosphere was terrific, and the night view of the Strip and beyond is incredible. (The only thing that I needed to get comfortable with was the slight vibration of the roller coaster above us!):o
We finished it off sharing a chocolate tower (which the waiter "built" at our table) that included ice cream, and was covered in chocolate sauce! I'm not sure how we got through that, but it was a fabulous time.

We've stayed at the Flamingo for years and on our last trip finally tried Ventuno's. It was great! They specialize in Italian food but also have seafood. The service was excellent! We stopped there for a light & quick lunch before meeting some friends and the waiter knew we were in a hurry & brought us our meals very quickly. Then we decided to try it for a casual dinner & were very impressed with the quality and service.

This is a tie between Wynn buffet and The Range inside harrahs. The Wynn because of the baby lamb chops and the fact that we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversery on June 28, and had 11 family members attend. The Range for the great food, atmosphere, wait staff and a surprise desert.
The bone-in ribeye at Delmonico's. Close second to Commander's Palace because everything tastes great after a couple quarter martinis.

One of the meals that stands out the most to me was when the Frontier had their Friday nite Prime Rib and Seafood Buffet, we are talking in the middle 1980's..it was over a 3 hr waiting line and it was the best thing I had ever tasted. We went back year after year..until it finally started to go down hill and then eventually it went away. I always remember that buffet and how good everything was. Now there are definitely much better buffets than that one, but back in the 80's it would probably compare in quality to the Bellagio or Wynn buffets of today!.

My fiance (harrop5783) and I REALLY enjoyed the following places/meals....(could not pick ONE favorite:) (our first visit was Dec. 2005)
Breakfast: The buffets at Bellagio and Paris....I'm a big breakfast person, so I was especially thrilled.....excellent quality, selection, and price (Bellagio only $13!) Both offered many, many of the usual favorites-delectable breakfast breads/pastries, creamy scrambled eggs, fresh cut fruit, MTO omlettes, superb coffee and juices, etc., plus surprises like Asian entrees, pizza, and roasted chicken. We'll be back this year in December!
Lunch: Hee hee, we were usually too full from breakfast buffets! I do recall a nice little "vanilla" midday meal though, at the Del Taco in the Showcase Mall food court We (fiance and I) were able to sit, eat, talk, (not to mention rest our poor screaming footsies, ha ha) and gaze at the lovely Vegas scene....mostly at NYNY, watching the roller coaster go by...
Dinner: The Paris buffet is also excellent for dinner, although it's a little pricey...but definitely worth it. I also LOVED the small but amazing buffet at Cafe Lago (Caesar's)....fiance was unimpressed, because he prefers a bigger selection, and is a whiny poop sometimes :), but I was blown over by the incredible dishes (white truffle risotto, creamed butternut squash, excellent Chinese dishes, desserts), despite the limited choices. Quality over quantity!
However, we did have a couple of bad experiences.....
Do NOT eat at Nosh at Bally's....it's a horribly overpriced "Snack Shop" with terrible sandwiches and not much else. I paid over $9 for an inedible turkey sub (meat was disgustingly salty and had a distinct "wet dog" flavor), and I will never be back.
Also at Bally's, the Big Kitchen Buffet was tasty, and the selection was decent (we ate there for dinner and breakfast, as we stay @ Bally's and it was "there"), but we experienced some rather poor customer service on one occasion. Basically, the hostess gave my fiance a hard time about paying for a $40 and change check (you pay before you enter) with $60 (we had just arrived in Vegas and had no smaller bills). I was aghast, and I doubt we'll be back because of her attitude. In retrospect, we should have complained to her manager. Ah well, plenty of other restaurants ready to be nice to us :)
We are going back this December, and we're getting married while we're there (wedding night meal at The Cheesecake Factory!)....we plan to hit the buffets Bellagio and Paris again, and want to have new experiences at the follwing recommended places: The Grand Lux (Venetian), The Burger Bar (Mandalay Bay), The Wynn Buffet, Sam's Town Firelight Buffet, and many more

We used to visit Spago (the restaurant, not the patio "cafe") every time we went to Vegas, but just about a year ago, I took my entire family out to Vegas for a week. We happened to fly in on father's day, so I took my family to Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay's new Vegas extension of his NY based restaurant. It really is one of the best meals I've ever had. And the service was bar none the best for a non-formal occasion. We had one head waiter, and at least 3 bussers throughout the night. For the 8 of us it ran me a bit over $1200, but we pulled out all the stops. A couple could easily keep it under $100.

Mine... Commander's Palace. The tasting menu did not appeal to me that night, so we ordered off the menu.
The hubbys? A Ho dog.
And yes....... those were on the same day.
Tried the new steakhouse at the Luxor and it was very good. Pricey, and everything in ala carte, including the salad and baked potato, but very worth it. Too bad they can't do something about the buffet.

This week's "Topic Of The Week" question is:
What was your best Las Vegas meal?
Wynn was very good but I still like Aladdin, also Wynn charged adult prices for my 5 year old (???)

pricy but you're worth every cent !
from the time you enter emeril's steak house you're catered too....table captians stand near the table ( no waiting here for a waiter to walk by ) "smiles ear to ear " you're even escorted to the restrooms so you won't get lost. this is the best steak on the planet , salads made fresh at the table, food is to die for. My last order was a T-Bone steak and i cut it with a fork thought it was kobe beef it was so tender and the flavor was unbelieveable forget the sauce.....It doesn't matter what you order it's all fantastic !!! down to dessert with esspresso.....appitizers are almost a meal in itself so be careful what you order.. there's no push to hurry and waiters are the best you'd think family was serving you GREAT PLACE... make reservations a month in advance to get your time slot maybe 2 months if you're a planner like me. ( who likes to eat and run to a show ) enjoy this experience it'll spoil you ........ by space

My most memorable meals have been the (4) 3-course lunches with 25 cent martinis that we have had at Commander's Palace. The best single entree, however, was the Teriyaki Halibut served over steamed rice and bok choy at Todd's Unique in Henderson. It was so good that we returned the week following and I ordered it again.
We go to the Voodoo Lounge at the Rio every trip. Love that place! Menu is not huge, but all the meals we have had have been delicious and impecable service. Glad to read a posting about the Top of the World has improved, we went there in 11/04 and it was the worst place I have ever been, and it was freezing! There were 9 of us and no one had a good meal and the bill was a little over $1400, enjoyed the view though!

I had to think about this for some time. We have had so many meals in Vegas and then it came to me. How could it have taken so long for me to think of it?
FIX at Bellagio. We ate here on our last trip to Vegas when we went to see O. Service is the best and food is unbelievable. The best thing was that a few weeks after we returned home we got a thank you card from our server and her assistant to say thanks.
How many places take the time to do that anymore ESPECIALLY in Vegas? We will defiantly spend out money there again.

The Gumbo Man

I will first admit to being a Foodie. I watch the Food Network, I try out a lot of the techniques and recipies, and, as The Gumbo Man, I am a fan of Chef Emeril Lagassee. For those of you who don't know (or even care) Chef Lagassee has several programs and specials on the Food Network. His main style is New New Orleans cooking, with liberal use of Creole spices, sea foods and pork products. He has (or had) several restaurants in New Orleans, and two great ones in Las Vegas.
The one in the MGM is called "Emeril's Fish House". It used to be great, with a raw bar out front for oystersmussles and clams, and inside felt like night time in the French Quarter. Now its all flamboyant wall hangings and indirect neon light are noveau yuppie BS, so I don;t go there any more. That'll learn him.
The GOOD one is at the Venetian and its called Delmonico. Why is a long story, go to Emeril.com and read it for yourself. Or don't. Point is that this is the fanciest, upper-crusty, high-falootin' place this poor country boy has ever been. When I went for the meal I'm about to describe, the waiter was wearing a suit that cost more than I make in two months. I had a tie on, and a heavy jacket because it was early March. And I was also weaaring a hat with a revolting statement on it, bought during my meanderings from a smutty section in one of the many kiosks and crapstores along the strip. I never felt so out of place in my life.
I made a reservation by pretending to be my own social secretary, saying who I was, that I was The Gumbo Man, that I'm a big fan of Chef Lagassee, and that I would be dining alone.
I show up two hours early, because the Venetian was at the end of the trail I had plotted for the day, and some of the stops did not pan out. It took me $12.95 to find outthe night before that I don't really care for French food. The Paris Buffet was not like any other, ok. Instead of foods from many popular parts of the globe, it was foods from many regions of France. When the best tasting thing in the place is a cup of hot mulled cider, it says little for flavor. On the other hand, the waiter was a snob, so it was just like being in Paris!
I was prepared for an expensive meal, but not so much as I could go nuts. I figured just an appetizer and a coffee and I'm outta there, just to say I been.
Well, I walked all over that Venetian, playing here and there and what not. Finally, I sat down at one of those monster slot machines. Its three stories tall, has lights and bells and whistles and its own built in big comfy chair. It takes 6 quarters to light up the whole thing (max play). When you hit the button, the machine plays a musical rendition of each coin going in. Then the reels on the bottom level start to spin. Bink Bink Bink they lock into place. as soon as the last wheel sets, the second level springs to life, making all sorts of wacky casino noises and stuff. and they snap into place bink bink bink! And then the third level commensces to spin, and it has lots of flashing lights, clanging bells and hooting whistles. And it clanks to a halt, bink bink bink. Then the machine totals up whatever you may have won from each level and spits out the winnings into a hollow metal tray, clangity clangity clank. The whole play takes almost a full minute to get through!
After about a half hourt I was up $40. I hit the max play button, it played up the scale of coin entry, which by now I am sick of hearing. The first three wheels stop at triple blazing 7s , one each. The next level wheels all three stopped at Triple JaAckpot, and when the top wheels stopped, all thre of them read "Triple Bonus!" I swear, the machine made a thunderclap. Scared the heck out of me and those pedestrians around me. I got $12,000 worth of quarters.
So I'm all happy asnd rich and suddenly famished. Once I filled out the required forms and had the cash in my wallet, I went to the nearest bar and had a single malt scotch, neat. Then it was off to Delmonico.
Right off the bat, and I still do not know how they did it, but I was a little frightened. They greeted me by name, like they knew me. "Good Evening Mr. Roshenko! So glad you could join us! Please allow us a moment to get things ready." Then this British dude comes up and gives me a properly snooty "May I take your hat and coat, sir?" People are coming out of the dining room, smiling, and dressed to the nines. I see at least three actual famous people in the cigar bar and lounge. "Right this way, sir!" and in we go.
All I can say is, fabulous. Jaw-droppingly spectacular. Like being in a movie. Table linnens are crisp and fresh, glassware polished and buffed, and the silverware ain't silver, its Gold.
My waiter hands me the menu, suggests a before-dinner drink, so its another Single Malt Scotch for me, only this time its top of the line. The really really goooood stuff. When he comes back to the table, I decide to play him. "Let me ask you, you work here, have you actually met Chef Lagassee?" Oh yes he has on many occasions! "And does he, himself, eat here on occasion?" Yes he does, not only as a means of management but also because he likes it! "OK so let me ax you dis (two scotches, remember) If Chef Lagassee came through that door right now, and he was mighty mighty hungry (the guy starts nodding) what would he order?" He's smiling now, because he gets asked this same question a lot. Leave everything to him, he says. And away he goes.
Fairly quick, hes back with a moist towlette, a small carafe of something wet, and a set of nutcrackers you could open a bank vault with. He pours a little of the beverage into a teensy little glass. And he leaves. I can't explain the color, the smell or the taste except it was like pommegranite nectar. sweet yet sour fruity yet not so much. He came back with French Onion Soup. I now know, I hate French food, but this was fan tastic! Wit hthe melty cheese and floating biscut, and the broth has some Bourbon in it, I can tell! Next was a fresh salad with roquefort dressing, warm butterd brown bread and a peppermill taller than my car. He gives me a little glass of some wine with the soup, I did not like it. And thats a fair statement. So I asked for iced tea instead. And he kept that filled for the rest of the meal. Or rather his assistant does. This guy not only dresses better than me, he's got a menial to do his bidding. Which ended up being my bidding.
Anyway, they give me another hit of that berry juice before the main course shows up. Its a baked potato, loaded with cheese, andouille sausage, bacon bits and a sour cream sauce. The next plate uncovered is asparagus spears (no relation to Brittney) and then they take the top off a piece of steak the size of Rhode Island. Its beautiful!. the crossed grill marks, the slight bit of juice, the glisten of the essence spices and the SMELL, oh my god, it was All Beef Nirvana. A bowl of carmelized onions and sauteed button mushrooms and then they were off. The steak knife they left for me looked like something Jim Bowie used out on the trail, it was huge and shiny and just razor sharp. The steak was done the exact way I would have ordered it, the meat was as tender as any I had ever eaten anywhere, and the little hand-made worchestershire reduction sauce bowl got frequent visits. The andouille sent that potato through the roof, and I could not for the life of me remember why it was my mother always had a hard time making me eat my asparagus! It was incredible!
I finish it all, stuffed to the rafters.
The waiter brings me a cup of the best dang coffee I ever tasted. It had that stuff "chicory" in it, but it complimented the meal in every way. Could not be better.
So then this tall guy with a beard walks up to the table. His suit is impeccable, and makes my waiter look like he's wearing rags. He calls me by name, introduces himself as the restaurant manager, and says to me "We're so sorry that Chef Lagassee was not here this evening, but he sends along his regards, and thanks you for coming by" Dude snaps his fingers and the waiter comes a running with a very large, and very incredible cannolli, his assistant carrying a small fancy looking tea cup. "Please enjoy this with our compliments".:p The assistant, on my side through ther whole adventure, says to me softly "drink the cocktail before you eat the dessert". He had been integral in fork selection decisions earlier so I trusted him.
The cocktail was dark, thick and sticky, with a licorice sort of flavor, maybe not. But I slugged it down, because I really liked it. Not 10 seconds later, I let out this burp, into my napkin, and suddenly, I have more room! Waiter told me it was a Sazarac Cocktail, an almost medicinal digestive, mixed with a light buzz and a feeling of peace and harmony with the universe. I demolished the cannolli, it was beyond fantastic. And I had more of that coffee too. The table got cleaned up. and the waiter and the assistant came back. "If you'll please come with me, sir" And the assistant takes my coffee. I follow them through the restaurant, where I can see the kitchen has seats around it, to watch the cooking as it happens. We pass through an archway and are now back in the lounge. I sit where I'm told. The assistant plants my coffee on the tiny table, the bartender is right there to freshen the cup, and he also delivers a snifter of what may be brandy, cognac or really good Rum. Can't tell.
Then, this spectacular blonde, looking slightly butch and all business, comes over and hooks me up with a nice fat panatella cigar, that she trims, and lights for me. She suggests I dip the mouth-tip into the snifter. I do. Its bourbon, but the smoothest I'd ever tasted. The waiter shows up, thanks me again for coming by, and leaves the check. My whole experience, with the food and the alcohol, all by myself, came to over $150. THE MANAGER HAD COMPED THE ENTIRE THING. I was flabbergasted.
I gave the waiter a 50, his assistant a 20 and me and the rest of the cigar staggered off into the rest of my vacation.
The next trip back, that giant slot machine was GONE!

A few years ago my wife and I were going to be in town on my birthday. So I was looking for a good steak place that was not very expensive. At the time there was not as much Vegas info on the Internet, but I did find a site that gave restaurant reviews. What caught my eye was the reviews for "The All-American Bar and Grill" at the Rio(It's now the New All-American Bar and Grill).
The reviews were all good and the fact that it was not very expensive was a big plus.
When we ordered we started off with an order of their hot wings. I love hot and spicy food and I'm use to getting hot wings that to me are not hot at all. You could smell the hot sauce on the wings from across the room. The wings were so hot my wife could only eat 1 before giving up. I was sweating and my mouth was on fire by the time I finished those wings.
For our entrees, my wife had ordered the Prime Rib and a loaded baked potato. I ordered the large Rib Eye and the loaded baked potato. My Rib Eye was 1 1/2" thick and covered my plate. I would say it was around 18-20oz. The potato was the size of a mini-football and loaded. When they sat my wife's Prime Rib down in front of her, her eyes almost popped out of her head. It was over 2" thick and almost as large as my Rib eye.
Both steaks were tender and juicy. Needless to say we both were stuffed and we couldn't finish our meals. Years later we still remember and talk about that meal.

I know it's been awhile, so forgive me. The best and most delicious food I ever ate was at Isis at Luxor. The lamb chops were mouth-watering as were the desserts. I don't eat seafood, nor do I eat many veggies. I love meat and carbs with a salad. It was many years ago when I went to Vegas to meet my mom on this particular trip. I flew in from Florida, and she and her boyfriend came by bus from San Diego. She hated staying on the Strip, but I had a room for $39 at Luxor and couldn't pass it up. I had never stayed there and wanted to try it, even if it meant being alone. I took the bus downtown to where my mom stayed at Horshoe. This was her hotspot and the place she "won big". I gambled and ate with her for the 4 days there mostly, but I went back to my hotel early and had some fun up there. One night I was in the casino playing black jack and our table got lucky. This guy next to me won big and asked me to dinner. Okay, why not, I thought. Well he took me to Isis, and wow, what a terrific meal. I have been to many of the fancy places in Vegas; maybe not as many new ones as all of you have been to, but enough to know good food. First of all it was very romantic, which made me a little uncomfortable but why not. He was a Hungarian businessman who came to our country to buy tractors and trucks and the like for his company in Budapest. We got on very well, enjoying every lip-smacking bite of our food and good wine. I can't remember the name of the desserts we had, but he said, " let's try a couple of different ones." Sure, I thought. Well, really, the best food and I was treated to dinner. Unfortunately, when dinner was over, he made some advances in the wrong direction and expected a little bit too much from me. Nevertheless, it was a one of a kind dinner for me in Vegas. Bon appetit!;)

My suggestion to you is DO NOT try the Firelight Buffet at Sam's Town...don't waste your money on that, but instead try Billy Bob's Steak House..you will be much more satisfied!!
Mr. Keno

A friend and I went to the Golden Steer on Sahara. It was the best food I have had since the Commanders Palace in New Orleans (not the one at the Aladdin.)
We stopped by there on a whim and it was late Friday night right before they closed, but they still took care of us like we were the first customer's of the night. This place is so good that when my family comes to town for my birthday next month, we are going again. I can't wait.
Yes it's off the strip (but not that far) and it is pricey, but it was one of my top meals EVER.

So many excellent meals, so short my memory.
Breakfast buffet - 15-20 times we have had the Paris buffet and its the best. Fresh berries, Belgian waffle with fresh berries, Lyonnaise potatoes, cheese, pears in wine, etc. etc. 4.5 Forks
Breakfast - Bouchon. The restaurant has a warm and elegant atmosphere including rich wood paneling, a handcrafted pewter bar, boldly patterned mosaic floor tiles and antique light fixtures. A table on the outdoor patio overlooking the gardens and fountains would have been perfect had the weather cooperated. We started off with fresh squeezed orange juice and were soon served a complimentary roll with cherry preserves. We ordered a specialty of the house, French toast - bread pudding style with warm layers of brioche, custard and fresh fruit (apples) with maple syrup. Since Ms. Westie completed her undergraduate studies in French toast and received an MBP, Masters of Bread Pudding , I was not about to argue with her when she assigned a 5.5 rating to this meal.
Lunch - we have had the now defunct 3-course $18.80 lunch at Commander's Palace 7-8 times and each was a memorable experience, but the best was our first visit. We each selected the turtle soup au sherry, blackened Mississippi catfish and banana praline white chocolate bread pudding. The garden room was gorgeous and the service second to none. We (I) also topped the meal off with (3) 25 cent martinis - 2 lemon drops and 1 Commander's Palace - we are talking as close to heaven as one can experience in dining room. 5 Forks
Dinner at Todd's Unique. Another restaurant where we have had many fine meals. One example from a recent TR - We usually pass on the bread in restaurants, but Todd serves a warm garlicky loaf that is almost worth the extra carbs. The shared crab cake with remoulade sauce and Asian salad appetizer was delicious. Ms. Westie settled on the Ahi tuna entrée with wasabi mashed potatoes and veggies. I went for the teriyaki halibut served over steamed rice and bok choy. We both feel these were the two best entrees of the trip.
