I've compiled a list of food for people who, like me, appreciate a bargain. I haven't tried all of these and can't speak for their quality, but at least you won't be paying a lot if you don't like something you try. While most of these specials have been in place for long periods of time (the prices were current in June), they are of course subject to change - either being eliminated or the price going up; both Fiesta casinos seem to change their specials quite often, as does the Cannery and Marilyn’s Café at the Tuscany. For many of these, at least one member of the party must have the casino’s slot card and many are available only to persons 21 years of age and older.

A few words on buffets - Most Las Vegas hotel/casinos have buffets. The prices vary greatly as does the quality. Most have champagne brunches on the week-ends (some on both Saturday and Sunday, some Sunday only). Six of the buffets are considered gourmet-quality (Aladdin, Bellagio, Paris, Wynn Las Vegas, Mirage, and Treasure Island) and are priced accordingly with lunch from about 15 to 20 dollars and dinner from the low 20's to about 30. The buffet at the Rio is almost as expensive and is probably the most popular in town (the Rio also has a separate seafood buffet that is only open for dinner and which is $34.99) . Possibly the best one for the money is Green Valley Ranch (pricier than most, but very good quality); it’s particularly good for week-end brunch. My favorite lower-priced buffet is probably the one at the Orleans, although it seems to have slipped a little recently. In general, if a casino has Station in its name its buffet will be pretty good (Palace Station and Boulder Station are a little behind the others). Buffets which are usually considered among the worst are the Boardwalk, Lady Luck, and Imperial Palace.

Great list. Might look into NYNY. I heard that there was a great bargain for a NY style Deli.

:) We eat at Harrahs and Rio since we get comped there, but occasionally we want to go somewhere else because we get tired of the same old thing.
Nice to know where some inexpensive places are. I'm going to print it out and take with me next time. :) :) :)

Although you have compiled one of the best lists I have ever read on Vegas' restaurants and prices, I would like to know just from your experiences what the one restaurant you would recommend downtown, not on the Strip, for the best and most reasonable priced food, not seafood as I am allergic? Thank you for working so hard on this.

When downtown you cannot go wrong with any of the restaurants in the Golden Nuggett. As for buffets, don't forget the Luxor which oftentimes will give you a 2 for 1 coupon if you just ask the front desk or casino host. Not the best buffet in Vegas, but it's not far off the list. Buffet at the Mirage is EXCELLENT.

Your list is a direct copy of one on Cheapovegas.com, vegas.com or some other vegas website . . . . I haven't taken time to look, but I recall the little comments made by the original author. Unless you're the original author, you probably shouldn't say "I have . . . . ."

As for cheap eats, nothing beats a meal of three 99 cent shrimp cocktails and a draft beer from the Golden Gate . . .

Good list for reference. Have to say that the $7.77 steak and shrimp special at the Hard Rock Lucky's was not good at all the last two times we tried it. We had it a few times in the early to mid-nineties (seems like it was about $5 back then) and it was great. Then about three or four years ago the steak was really tough and gristly. Gave the benefit of the doubt and tried once more a year later and it was just as bad. Hope they've improved but we won't give it a third chance.

Sorry to hear your $7.77 steak/shrimp special at Mr. Lucky's, Hard Rock Casino/Hotel was not good. It used to be a nice dinner for the price. Actually they discontinued a prime rib special, known as the Twilight Special, (before 7 p.m.), and had to ask for it which I thought was better than the steak/shrimp special. However done away with at least 2 years ago.

Have been reading many members positive remarks ablout Ellis Island $4.95 Steak dinner. We will try it the next time we're out, in two weeks. Love that we have this forum to get the latest information on the latest deals in Vegas.

Thanks Steve. Thanks Members. :)

P.S. Of course there is the Ham/Eggs, Steak/Eggs special, with hash browns and either toast or a biscuit w/gravy (not MY choice) all day at Arizona Charlies, Decatur in the Sourdough Cafe for $2.49, $2.99. Have to go there at least once on our trips, for some good 'ol taste of Vegas.

The buffet at Mandalay Bay is also excellent. It is not cheap, though.

I go to In `N `Out Burger on Tropicana. Double Double, with K&M repalcing sauce. Yum.

A good place to go when the gambling is not going well.

I ate at the Peppermill this last trip and liked it. The food was good and I liked the service. The lounge was really nice.
It didnt cost us a fortune for a nice evening.

I also like the Golden Nugget buffet but get there early there was always a line on the weekend I went.

Grif: thanks for the extensive list, I know it took you a lot of time an effort and I really appreciate it.

Even though it is not the cheapest place to eat in the a.m. I really enjoy the breakfast at the Luxor. We ususally get comped. but the chef makes fantastic omelets. Ans as someone said previously most of the time you can get a 2 for one coupon.

Question for ldf1616: Is that your dog? It looks like mine, so innocent.

Love the list Grif, I have made copies for others as well.

Buffets:
Rio seafood - not impressed - over processed - taste cooked out - too pricey
Sunday Bruch at Main Street Station - Great deal for the price $10. Good omellets too.
Mandalay Bay - yes, it is a little pricey fro breakfast but it was great and worth it
Bellagio: My favorite. A bit pricey but never had anything bad there.
Paris: Wonderful as well either before WWRY matinee or after.
Aladin: Used to be my favorite before going to The Bellagio. Have heard very mixed reports recently. And not too sure I'll even set foot on the property due to the new management (don't ask - it's a political thing - yeah, I know it might be small minded but I vote with my wallet).

Breakfast:
Terribles - three of a kind special in the Bougainvillea cafe until 8AM I think- three eggs, hash brown, and a huge ham steak for about $4
Station Casinos - Skillet breakfasts - again with the ham steaks - if this is still available was a great deal.
Unfortunately, the best breakfast in town is long gone. Binion's coffee shop used to have a special called the "Natural" - eggs, hash browns, and a ham steak that covered the whole plate for $2.99
The coffee shop at the Rio used to have a T-bone steak, eggs, has browns and all the toast or pancakes you could eat for $3.99 until 9am, but then it changed (wasn't available after 7am), and now I'm not sure if it is even available at all :D

thanks for the list!....but did you forget Sam's Town? Prime Rib dinner (very good) for $6.95 in the coffee shop...we eat there everytime!

with all of the buffet prices going through the roof, remember that you quite often have most of the same foods during lunchtime hours as during dinnertime hours and for way less price. this is good for places like bellagio, wynn, mandalay and all the "pricier" spots that are great venues with better than average food on the buffet tables.

for those interested in a quality steak or prime rib dinner, there's roberta's in the el cortez downtown. nice rennovations underway. bone-in prime rib dinner w/ soup or salad, potato and veg is $15.95 and the meat is excellent--on a par w/ lawry's, the prime rib place.
